"Does the inauthenticity of the bourgeois life have you down? Want the dictatorship of the proletariat NOW? Then this is the synthesizer that you need. Lovingly crafted in Soviet Russia (ok, actually Buffalo, New York), this radical synthesizer will give you EVERYTHING you need to expose the hypocrisy of liberal freedom. In addition, it comes with the original instruction manual. How cool is that, comrade?!?

A monophonic analog synthesizer produced by the original Moog Music in the early 1980s, The Rogue featured a 32-note keyboard and two VCOs. VCO number 2 is tunable between a half-step below to an octave above VCO number 1. This allows the Rogue to play atonal sounds like the Moog Prodigy. The Rogue did not have features to allow the user full flexibility to program the patch settings, however the VCF and the VCA were simple in operation. The synthesizer is most commonly used for its powerful bass.

This synth is in perfect working condition. Don't pass up this opportunity to join THE STRUGGLE..."

New Intellijel OR - Passive Logical Gate Combiner

via Intellijel on Facebook

"Latest member of the 2hp family: Intellijel - OR passive logical gate combiner."

via Intellijel

"This module allows you to combine different logic source (triggers, gates etc.) into a one logical OR combined output.

The top section has 3 inputs and 1 output. This output is normalled into the bottom section input 1 (which also has 3 inputs and 1 output) to allow you to also use the module as a 5-IN 1-OUT

The OR is totally passive which means it consumes no power and requires no power cable.

*Note this module employs passive diode logic so there is a voltage drop of approximately 0.7V between the input and output."

Prototype DIY passive utilities panel

Published on Jan 7, 2014 wellurban·6 videos

"The first parts of my utilities panel are now working: an 8-way CV/audio bus and three passive attenuators...with giant knobs! I'm just using a cardboard panel while I experiment with different passive utilities, but once I've added a whole bunch more, I'll get one made in acrylic or aluminium.

This is just a very simple patch to check that everything's working. One channel of Maths works as a VCO, and goes through a Pittsburgh Filter into DelayLab. The other acts as an LFO, with its output going through the first passive attenuator before hitting the Both in of the VCO channel, thus controlling the amount of modulation. Two fixed voltage sources (mh01 channels) go into the other two attenuators, and thence to LFO frequency and Filter cutoff.

The large knobs make for wiggling heaven (even better when I have two hands free), and the bus keeps the wiggling area free of cables."

NodeBeat HD Free Today

iTunes: NodeBeat HD - AffinityBlue

This one in via cheater:

"'ve just noticed that Node Beat is available for free today. If you don't know it, it's a fun little sequencer/synthesizer, available for Android and iOS. It's really well made unlike most of them! The idea is you have a rectangular playing field where you put notes and generators. Basically, you have large dots (generators) that rhythmically send out pulses (when depends on when you last moved them) and then small dots (notes) that receive pulses and sound off notes. The small dots can receive pulses from both melodic generators and percussive generators at once. The harmony depends on what note dots you place; the rhythm and melody depend on the spatial relationship between the generators and notes; the timbre depends on what generators you place. One thing I like to do in Node Beat is to have a generator somewhere in a part where there are only a few notes, and then when I want it to get more involved i move it somewhere where there are many notes. You can also add gravity, and then the objects fly around, and the rhythm and melody are nice and random. On top of all of that, if you place your finger anywhere on the background, you get a pitch-quantized lead, kind of like a Minimoog, Stylophone, or Monotron. I'm having a lot of fun. To get it for free (rather than the ~ $1 you'd normally pay) you have to install AppGratis and get Node Beat today. This app has definitely made my day a lot more fun!"

Vintage MOOG Sonic Six Synthesizer & Service Manual

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Here is some Specs from Moog:
To start, it is duo-phonic, utilizing two analog oscillators with three basic waveforms each plus tuning, modulation and scaling controls. There are two independent LFO generators with advanced control options not seen on other Moog synths (for instance, an X/Y knob is used to mix and balance the LFO outputs). Also on-board is a Ring Modulator (that can modulate either Osc. B or external audio) and pink/white noise generators.

Moog synthesizers are known for their filters, and the Sonic Six strays from the usual Moog in this area as well. While it is known that ARP stole a filter design from Moog for use in some of their 2600 and Odyssey models, leading to lawsuits between Moog and ARP, according to Mark Vail in "Vintage Synthesizers," the Sonic Six actually used some circuitry in its filters which were stolen from an ARP design, although ARP never sued Moog over it. However, later models of the Sonic Six were eventually fitted with a more traditional Moog designed filter. In either case, the filter is a low-pass 24dB/oct which offers the usual controls and is capable of self-oscillation. The VCA, however, has a rather limited set of controls - attack and decay plus a sustain on/off switch."

According to the seller: "A great keyboard that I've used mostly for the strings; it sounds much like an ARP Solina. Great for 70's and 80's stuff. The condition is definitely above average. All keys work flawlessly, most sliders are noise free (the resonance on the brass has a dead spot and some noise, but still functions. That has never caused a problem for me.).."

"This handmade synthesizer is played by bridging the contact points. There are 15 contact points, each of which plays a higher pitch. It is monophonic and will sound the highest pitch being played and 2 effect points.

There is controllable LFO that is activated by pressing the far left contact point and is fed to the square-wave oscillator producing quick modulation, or an almost distorted throaty sound. In addition to LFO speed there is a low pass filter and volume control. Also the far right contact point will create some interesting effects, responding well to light touches that can zap the frequency well out of audible range..."

Instead I programmed a (slightly different from the original) 303 pattern on the Elektron Analog Four. The hookline is made with a sample from the "X-Static Goldmine" CD which has been used A LOT in the early 90s by the techno producers. It features basically ALL classic rave samples that we know from the early techno days. For further fun I added the Virus TI later.

midiSequencer for iPad Arrives

iTunes: midiSequencer - anthony saunders

"The midiSequencer iPad app is a 16 step sequencer with analog style sliders and a very special button called Cycle for delaying changes. Equipped with step or note duration timing and special effects (e.g. ratcheting ornamentation).

The design of midiSequencer was focused on being able to make changes for any of the 16 steps during play, for example it is possible to link all controls to move them as a group, or use increment/decrement buttons for small changes.

Flexible routing allows network sessions and midi devices to be sources of midi input to the sequencer. Additionally, the sequencer can be setup as a virtual source or destination to allow dedicated midi messaging externally to & from other apps.

With extremely high & low playback clock speeds (1 to 1020 BPM) it can accomplish special effects on your external midi equipment not even available on hardware sequencers. As a SLAVE, it can utilise incoming midi clock to synchronise your DAW or hardware synthesiser.

With the ability for each step to decide which step follows, this sequencer is capable of playing sub-sequences outside of the normal forward/reverse patterns.

Up to two midi controllers can be setup for the sequencer and each step can provide a value for the controller. All 127 controller values are possible, but most useful for the mod wheel & aftertouch controls. The effectiveness of this depends upon the receiving midi equipment, but it is not constrained.

Recording midi data as steps is also possible and can record midi note, velocity, channel, and up to two controller values. Recording for each of these parameters can be disabled in the Options. Additionally, you can select to record from only one midi channel, allowing you to use one midi source (e.g. a keyboard) to record from.

Snapshots allows the current settings (with or without the transport controls) to be stored in up to 20 locations. The can be loaded or saved even when the sequencer is playing. In Cycle mode, this loading will occur at the cycle reset, allowing for creative changes during play.

Stuck for a sequence idea? Let Random setup a completely new set of controls for you to experiment with!

Notes a little plain? Add note ornamentations : mordents, appoggiatura, triplet or even a ratcheting style triple or quad repeat.

SPECIAL NOTES :
1) iOS 6 or greater only, so iPad 1 not currently supported.
2) This app makes no sound (although it can send/receive midi to coreMidi apps you have installed on your iPad).
3) To communicate with external midi equipment you will need a suitable iPad midi interface unless you use the Midi Network sessions over wifi."

Creating Individual FX on the Ensoniq ASR-10

Published on Jan 8, 2014 TheDaydreamSound·92 videos

"A video describing how to add individual effects to each track on the Ensoinq ASR-10 & EPS 16+.

PLEASE BE ADVISED
The process described in this video is a handy way of storing your favorite effect settings with your saved samples. It is not possible to sequence effectively using this technique, as the effects engine will adopt the INSTRUMENT EFFECT for the current selected track making it the main effect for all active tracks in the ASR-10.

If you would like to have individual effects on each instrument in a sequence, you can use the alternative methods described in the latter part of this video. In addition to these alternatives, you can also use a global BANK EFFECT to assign variations of that global effect to the BUS OUPUTS of each instrument. Although using a global BANK EFFECT is limited to the parameters of the selected effect, it is still a useful way to add non-destructive diversity to your music.

Roland TR-77 speedcore (3600 BPM)

Published on Jan 8, 2014 acreil·72 videos

"The Roland TR-77 has internal trimpots to adjust the tempo range (low and high). The range is excessive to begin with, but adjusting these trimpots enables extremely fast rhythms. I estimate that this reaches about 3600 BPM. Even faster tempi are possible if the timing capacitors in the master oscillator are replaced with something smaller, but I think this is already sufficiently ridiculous. They should be replaced anyway; I've seen the tantalum capacitors fail, causing an unstable and wildly varying tempo. I replaced the 0.33 µF caps in mine with 0.47 µF film capacitors to get a more reasonable tempo range.

The original recording is mono. Overdubs (hard-panned left and right) are TR-77 with Marantz PMD-221 tape delay and Tapco 4400 spring reverb."
