"A little video for the title track from our second EP. Filmed in our lounge in about half an hour* and then edited and argued about for over 3 months.

I performed the song really slowly over a full 24 hours and then we sped up the footage, hence the fast moving clock-hand. OR MAYBE WE POSSIBLY DID IT ANOTHER WAY!

I hope you like it.

*Apart from the clock footage, obviously. That took 12 hours."

"This has been stored since the mid 1970's, it was used very little and never left the home, unfortunately, the owner nor I really knows how to operate it, It does power up, when putting the pins in we do get sound although some of the pots are dirty but did get cleaner when moving them back and forth as well as when using the pins, so I have to sell it with knowing that we could not fully test the unit and can not tell you that it is 100 percent, in which after sitting awhile it is going to need serviced and or repaired if necessary so no guarantee's but you are getting an investment as you know they are rare and desirable, the case looks great , couple of corner nicks, we did get both channels to work, and the speakers, joy stick etc, but thats as far as I can say, so SOLD AS IS, with no returns or Partial refunds comes with a manual and some extra pins and power cord, you can pick up or I can meet you within 100 miles of cleveland, shipping will be through fedex and I will double box with padding and bubble wrap with peanuts, USA only"

"This is a beautiful synthesizer. You need to look pretty hard to notice the couple of minute imperfections. It was re-capped and completely serviced at Portland Custom Shop here in PDX. It has the complete Kenton CV/Gate kit installed, giving you control of both upper and lower OSC, individually or together. It's also got sweet custom endcaps and cheeks :)
The keybed is bright and springy. All pots and sliders work well. This thing hasn't really seen a lot of use. I never thought I would see one of these, let alone own one... sad to see it go."

Peter Grenader • Je Suis Anonyme

Published on Feb 17, 2014 Peter Grenader·23 videos

"From the album Secret Life, available on iTunes or CD Baby through Coda Recordings (link below).

Je Suis Anonyme (I Am Anonymous) is an A-B-Aprime-Coda arranged as a canon in both a micro and macro sense, meaning the construction of each gesture and the relation of one gesture to another. The process parallels elasticity and soft focus - stretching phrases to maximum duration while keeping elements loosely synced. The entry phrase was recorded in the late Summer of 2009. The work was completed during a three week period in September of 2010. It is distantly familiar to a work I did many years ago entitled "The St. Mathew's Passion, Part 2" (a lot of nerve there)!.

I approached Je Suis Anonyme with a rather empty conceptual pallet. This was by intention. Instead I relied more on noesis, something I became aware of while an art director where the distinct impression was that much of the creation was coming from the unconscious. Allow the piece uncover itself, continue until it tells you it's completed. In print art this manifests as carving an image out of a blank white page. In sound art that relates to silence and attested to synesthesia [1] - the visualization of colors, in this instance cobalt blue hues. Eastern culture defines this as Svadhisthana or The Sacral Chakra. There are other accounts of this phenomena in relation to music by Bela Bartok, Pierre Henry, Oliver Messiaen, Hanspeter Kyburz, Judy Collins and Robert Fripp [2].

JSA didn't begin as a dedication though through it's process it became evident it was a release of sorts to my mother, Harriet Avra Grenader. A final goodbye - something that's been long brewing. By sheer coincidence it was completed in the late evening on September 12th, the eve of her birthday.

TECHNICAL NOTES:

Most of the timbres in JSA were built utilizing source material recorded from the Plan B Model 30 Digital VCO Subsystem prototype in the Spring of 2009. Additional base reinforcement was added using a standard Plan B Model 15 VCO.

While the motifs in JSA may appear to have been generated in a single pass, they are actually the result of many layers of soundfiles. While the melodic progressions were scored utilizing a polyphonic instrument as a reference, governed by the monophonic attributes of the Model 30 the translation of this information involved multitracking. In instances where the required tonal information was not available in the original source material, Amazing Slow Downer was incorporated to generate those frequencies.

REFERENCE:

[2] Robert Fripp - 'Creativity: Finding The Source' (quote used through permission of the author): "Most musicians have experienced those moments of inspiration when magic seems to flow, when every note seems effortlessly right - but such moments are rare and their fleeting existence seems governed by capricious forces beyond our control. Is there any way to bring us into more consistent and productive contact with our Muse?

[1] Color Synesthesia: a phenomena in which voice, music, or assorted environmental sounds can trigger color manifestations which fade when the sound stimulus ends [3]. Until recently, synesthesia was believed to be rather uncommon, effecting only 1 out of 2000 individuals. Later studies indicate this percentage more towards 100 out of 2000 individuals and in some cases paralled to psychic perception in those tested. Although perception is often personalized (composers Liszt and Rimsky-Korsakov famously disagreed on the colors of music keys) sonic variation often affect the perceived hue, brightness, scintillation, and directional movement. In relation to amplitude: loud tones appear brighter than softer tones; in relation to frequency: lower tones are darker than higher tones; in relaiton to timbre: complex timbres appear brighter than purer tones. For some, the stimulus type is limited (music only, or even just a specific musical key); for others, a wide variety of sounds triggers synesthesia.

Polivoks is the portable electronic musical synthesizer which is designed for playing different musical compositions of any genre. It is also intended for creating some musical effects in cinema and play scoring, in studio.

There are 4 octaves on the keyboard. The inclined desk is divided into the following functional sections: Modulator, Generator #1, Generator #2, Mixer and Amplifier. They give one a possibility to synthesize a broad spectrum of sounds and to change sounding at any time.

There are 3 internal audible signal sources in the instrument: to broad-ranged of the Generators with changed form of oscillations and a noise generator for creating a non-musical sounds such as wind, surf, whine, etc.
Possibility to connect an external audible signal sources to the synthesizer is provided for (e.g. guitars, electropianos and electroorgans). Sounds of different external sources are combined separatly in the mixer in any ratio. There is a filter in the synthesizer with cutoff frequency control and resonance to change colour of timbre of audilble signal over a wide range.

CV Toolkit receives the MIDI notes, convert them to control voltages (using the new 'MIDI to CV' virtual module) and send them to the Eurorack modular synth via the ES-3 module.

In the second part of this video, we add the iElectribe app to the formula, sync it via MIDI clock and route it back into Cubasis via Audiobus. In other words, Cubasis is acting as our DAW, iElectribe as our drum machine and CV Toolkit + Eurorack Synth as our synth."

Demo for STEOPING DIY Eurorack Module 'Deluxe Delay'

Published on Feb 17, 2014 stereoping·30 videos

"First prototype of my latest Eurorack module called 'Deluxe Delay'. The 'Deluxe Delay' is based on the PT2399-delaychip and offers 4 useful features: control voltage for delaytime, control voltage for feedback amount, send/return-jacks to use external filters, equalizers or effects to colorize the repeats for dub-delay-sound and - what i think is the coolest and as far as i see at the moment a still quite unique feature: a VCA between the input signal and delay input. This offers the temporary and punctual delay-isation of the signal going through the delay. For example you can put delay on just the snare of a loop by opening the vca via control voltage for just the short time when the snare is sounding. The rest of the loop keeps delayfree and the trails of the snare are warbling around and can be further tweeked by repeat and delaytime. The video shows all the features in examples with a TR9090, XoXboX, DW8000 and a CR78-clone. More information about the module on my page. Thanks for watching."

KORG to Release New ARP Odyssey

via KORG

"Tokyo, Japan - February 17, 2014 - KORG INC. is proud to announce that a faithful recreation of the legendary 1970s analog synthesiser, the ARP Odyssey, is being developed by Korg for release later in 2014.

The ARP Odyssey was released in 1972 by ARP Instruments, Inc. and quickly became famous for its unique rich sound and innovative performance controls. It was a staple for many recording and performing musicians worldwide and was used on countless hit records over many years. The Odyssey was one of the highlights of the ARP company and became a long selling product. With slight updates and improvements it was sold through to 1981.

Korg is also proud to welcome Mr David Friend as our chief advisor on the Odyssey. David Friend established ARP Instruments, Inc. along with Alan Robert Pearlman and is a past president of ARP Instruments, Inc. He was also the lead designer of the original Odyssey in addition to designing or co-designing many other products.

After ARP, Mr Friend became a successful technology entrepreneur. In 2010, he was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Emerging Technology category for the New England Region, he has been a lecturer at MIT's Sloan School of Management and is now Chairman & CEO of Carbonite, Inc. He has been a trustee of the New England Conservatory and Berklee College of Music.

In the last few years, KORG INC. has released several top selling analog synthesizers such as the monotrons series, the monotribe, the volca series and the hugely successful MS-20 mini, a faithful fully analog recreation of the 1978 MS-20. With Korg's technology capabilities and planning ability for analog synthesizers, and in collaboration with David Friend, we believe the legendary ARP Odyssey will become a "must have" for an all new generation of music makers.

The ARP Odyssey is scheduled for release in September 2014."
