"In this patch we are running the Cwejman D-LFO through the 4 channels of the Cwejman QMMF-4. A Cwejman CTG-VC is enveloping the QMMF-4 and clocking a 4ms Quad Clock Distributor, which is clocking the RG-6 providing further envelope modulation. The Melody Mill is synced to the Quad Clock Distributor which is driving the pitch of the D-LFO and triggering the Mutable Instruments tides which is enveloping the filtered D-LFO in the 4ms VCA Matrix. The animated D-LFO is running through the TipTop Z-DSP dragonfly delays program back into the 4ms VCA Matrix where it is being further stereo modulated via the Cwejman PH-4."

Doepfer A-101-1 vactrol multitype filter

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"this is the first vactrol based module in the a-100 system. a vactrol is a combination of a light depending resistor (ldr) and a led (light emitting diode) both put into a small light-proof case. increasing the led brightness causes a decrease of the ldr resistance (e.g. the light controlled voltage module a-179 is an application of a ldr). this effect can be used in circuits that require variable resistors to obtain the desired function (e.g. vcfs, vcas, vc phasers, vc trigger delays, vc slew limiters, vc envelope generators, vc lfos, vcos and many more). the advantage of vactrols compared with other solutions (e.g. otas, diodes, transistors or fets as variable resistors) is that they behave like a normal ohm resistor and can handle high voltages without causing distortion. this is probably the reason why the sound of vactrol-based circuits usually is described as soft or mellow. disadvantages are the expenditure and consequently the expenses and the not exactly defined coherence between led current and ldr resistance. for each vactrol the ldr resistance decreases when the led current increases but mechanical and electrical tolerances cause that each vactrol will behave a bit different (e.g. because of the differences in alignement and distance between led and ldr, different brightness of the leds at the same current).

module a-101-1 is a special multitype filter based on an idea by nyle a. steiner (published in electronic design, issue 25, december 1974, page 96 ff). the circuit uses the standard non-inverting amplifier filter design. different filter types (low pass / lp, band pass / bp, high pass / hp) are realized by injecting the audio signal into different points of the circuit and using a common output for all filter types. one may feed three different audio signals into the filter simultaneously. each signal is filtered correspondingly (lp resp. bp resp. hp) and the sum of the three filtered signals appears at the output. of course it is possible to feed the same signal to all three inputs. in this case one obtains different combinations of lp/bp/hp according to the settings of the three input attenuators for lp/bp/hp. even a notch filter is possible (not available in the original design). the filter inputs are normalled, i.e. the bp input is connected to the lp jack socket provided that no cable is plugged into the bp socket (same applies for hp/bp inputs).

in contrast to the original circuit vactrols are used instead of diodes as variable resistors for frequency control of the filter. due to the "crooked" response of vactrols the filter has not an exact frequency control standard (like v/oct). the inevitable tolerances between different vactrols will lead to an individual sound of each module and individual resonance behaviour. even the resonance control is realized with vactrols. consequently this parameter is voltage controlled, too. resonance can be increased up to self-oscillation. resonance and consequently self-oscillation may vary with the filter frequency because of vactrol tolerances.

Doepfer A-127 Voltage Controlled resonance filter

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"module a-127 is a triple resonance filter unit. it contains three separate voltage controlled band pass filters. each filter has it's own lfo (triangle waveform) with led display and adjustable frequency and amplitude. instead of the internal lfo an external control voltage may be used to control the filter frequency. in this case the external voltage is fed into the external cv jack (with integrated switch to turn off the lfo signal) and the amplitude control of the lfo affects the level of the external cv signal. each filter is equipped with the following controls: lfo frequency, lfo/external cv amplitude, filter frequency, filter resonance and filter amplitude. in addition to the mix output for all three filters each filter has a separate audio output. the original audio signal can be added to the triple filter mix signal with a separate control. all of the 3 filters share a common audio input with attenuator. the filter audio inputs are very sensitive so that distortion may intentionally be used to create new sounds - if desired.

the frequency control range of the bandpass filters is about 40hz...6khz, the frequency range of the lfo's is about 0.02hz...20hz (= 1 min ... 1/20 sec per cycle).

each of the three filters can used also as a 12db low pass (with resonance control) instead of band pass. for this a jumper has to be changed on the filter board in question. in this case the module can be called no longer "resonance filter" but "triple low pass filter". it is also possible to modify only one or two of the filters to low pass.

this module has a maximum current draw of 100ma. it requires 28 te/hp worth of space to fit in a eurorack frame."

First look at iPad app Deregulator - using Thumbjam

Published on Jun 9, 2014 phillwilson·178 videos

"This is my first go on deregulator the new iPad app by Ashshaosh Daa. The app is a delay/echo/reverb combo but with a twist...all components can be randomized to alter each/any setting over time.

the concept is very simple but in use it is a great way of creating mangled textures that recycle what you put in and spitit back out at you in new in interesting ways."

iTunes: deregulator - Savelii Kaliupanov | ThumbJam - Sonosaurus LLC

"Deregulator it’s a mini-processor of stereo effects with Echo, Delay and Reverberator. Input signal goes to echo and delay simultaneously. Then delayed and echoed signal lands into reverberator. All parameters of this effects may be randomised at once and some key parameters can be randomised dynamically all time. On output we have wide effects range from simple mono echo/delay/reverb and combinations to near granulation live when remains of sounds create nebula around original input and like morning mist its blurring and smudging sound into scape of something new, vibrant and beautiful (degree of beautifulness depends on what you feed in D).
Delay just repeat sound pieces and size of every piece can be randomised, this chop and remix original sound into sometimes very glitchy, something new. Echo behaves like a usual echo unless you start randomising delay and feedback parameters. Reverb have three parameters, room size, damping and wetness of output. Off course all of them are randomisible. Randomising its a root of conception in this little app.
How it sounds like? Lets walk together to the border that splits effects from synthesisers where only granular with live input lives and question this line, she is exist? You must play with it or go to soundcloud(tag deregulator) for examples.

Go to look at instruction and detailed description on ckek.ru

Feature list:
+ Three linked effect module (Echo, Delay and Reverb)
+ Randomisers for every parameters of this effects
+ Ability to randomise all parameters at once
+ Recording of affected audio to wav
+ Share files to iTunes, AudioCopy 2, AudioShare
+ Audiobus of course
+ 25 non-factory presets slots
+ Stereo/mono

Coming soon:
+ Universal app(Yeah, download once and run everywhere)
+ Audiobus 2 and all slots
+ IAA

Tested on iPhone 4s(iOS 6&7), iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPad 2, iPad New and iPod touch 4. And i don’t recommend run this app on something lower then 4s. On iPod4 lag is too big, Deregulator need ~100mb ram and more power in heart. iPhone 4s/iPod5 is recommended as low line to work comfortably.

Have fun and make some noise %)"

Befaco diy modular synth

"Having fun with my Befaco DIY modular synth (2010-2014, and growing)

Everything recorded in live, all sounds coming from the main output.

Patch 1 - Using MidiCV module ( Multi4 mode ), different sequences and filter functions.

Patch 2 - Using MidiCv module ( Poly mode ) trying some chords and pads. Don´t expect it to excel at this, it´s not what it is intended for. But with some tweaking you can still get some polyphonic goodness.

Path 3 - Random+rythmical pattern using internal functions (no midi here).

All sound recorded with the camera microphone, sorry for the poor quality

Kits are available at befaco.org."

eml polybox Uploaded on Aug 4, 2011 xamstradx·4 videos

"Got this eml poly-box for some years now, i decided to put up some quick demo due the lack of info, and sometimes curiosity, about it.
It´s is a cute, tiny, and exotic synth companion who basically turns a mono synth into a pseudo poly-synth (well not exactly, but more or less).
I bealive it was designed to work with EML electrocomp series. So to take the best of it you need a modular or semimodular device i´d say. Here it is with my diy modular synth.

'From the Peter Forrest guide to all things synth: 'A curious and rare product - only 130 ever were made. Designed to turn monosynths into pseudo-polyphonics. Twenty-six "note memories." Connect a monosynth audio out to the PolyBox input, play a note on the monosynth, hold down a chord on the PolyBox, and the PolyBox will fill out the chord from the original root note. Then you could route the PolyBox back into your synth (if it had an audio input) to use the synth's filter and envelope. The PolyBox's own sound was limited to pulse wave

Here is how EML describes it:
'Poly-Box is a pitch following variable chord generator controlled by your synthesizer and Poly-Box's own keyboard with built-in memory. Poly-Box takes a single pitch from your synthesizer and creates two banks of pitch sources. Each pitch bank contains 13 simultaneously available pitch sources at precise semitone intervals - covering an entire chromatic octave. The pitch banks may be in the same or different octaves, and can cover the range from one above to three octaves below the synthesizer oscillator.'"

ADDAC System Limited Edition Skateboard

via ADDAC Sys on Facebook

"ADDAC System limited edition skate decks just arrived!"

Update via Andre Goncalves:

"Some further info regarding the ADDAC System skate deck:

ADDAC System + Fall Skateboards joint venture supporting the local skate community

This project was personally driven and it’s my public admittance of being a skateboarding fan
I picked up skateboarding in the late 80’s, and while i was never that good at it i kept riding throughout all the 90’s, did a 10 year hiatus when i moved to Lisbon but picked it up again in 2010 (really needed some activity that would take me away from the laptop and the soldering iron) skateboarding was still in my heart and still felt challenged by it so, without being too crazy about it, i cleaned the dust of my old skateboard, which by then was almost an artefact from the past, and started frequenting a recently built nearby skatepark. At the skate park there was a few people that were there almost every time i'd go there and we started getting acquainted, after going through the phase of them calling me Sir (damn, i felt old when it happened, most of them were born in the late 90’s some in the early 2000’s!!) we’ve become friends and I started to know them better, and how they deal with the urge to skate and the money necessary to do it. Skating can shred your wallet especially if you practice daily, shoes and decks only last up to 2 months this hoping you don't break a deck on some unfortunate landing. So i watch them struggling with these money issues while riding 2nd and 3rd hand boards all soft and chipped out which greatly influence their progression in the sport, i remember how the exact same thing happened to me 20 years ago and i felt compelled of supporting these young guys. I started by helping them have access to cheaper prices being the ebay intermediary and buying stuff online whenever they asked me to and from there i started thinking on this project, making decks to support the local skate community.
After a small conversation with our good friends at Fall Skateboarding we immediately started preparing this joint venture!

So, in this context, we made 50 decks from which 25 are reserved for the local park kids, these will be sold at production price becoming the cheapest decks in Portugal!
The remaining 25 will be numbered and signed by me and sold at 45€ per deck.

These are good quality decks, made of canadian maple hardwood with mellow concave.

All the very best and keep shredding!

Pendulum Ratchet simple patch

Published on Jun 9, 2014 Todd Barton·166 videos

"Here is a very elementary patch for the Pendulum/Rachet. Hope this helps those just getting started with the P/R.

What I love about it is the ability to "generate a bunch of correlated pulses." These pulses can then, in turn, trigger a 281e or two and, a 266e and, of course, a 251e/250e. When trigging the 281e it, in turn, can create lots of different CVs to send all around your system.

Chris Muir's design is brilliant and an incredibly powerful addition to any Buchla system. Here's a link to the PR description of functions:

ReDominator Intro AU / VST - Roland Alpha Juno 1/2 Emulation

Published on Jun 9, 2014 audiorealism·6 videos

"ReDominator is an emulation of the classic Alpha Juno 1/2 (JU-1/2), a polyphonic DCO (digitally controlled oscillator) based synth from 1986. The JU-1/2 became popular in the early 90's techno and rave scene particularly by the classic Hoover sound (which ReDominator attempts to emulate accurately). But beyond those niche sounds there lays a versatile synthesizer that does bass, pads, leads, organs and a lot of other sounds waiting to be discovered!

EURORACK MODULE - Erica Fusion Series TEASER

Published on Jun 9, 2014 DivKidMusic·31 videos

"Here's a little teaser of the new Erica range of vacuum tube modules the 'Fusion' series. There's 5 modules with valves including a VCO mixer, VCA, Ring Modulator, Filter and Delay/Chorus. These will be released in July so watch http://www.ericasynths.lv for more info.

As always feel free to like/comment and ask questions.

PATCH NOTES

E350 XY output into Erica Fusion Ring Modular X input, E350 Z input into Ring Mod Y input. Both wavetables outputs then cross modulate each other. The Ring Modulator goes out into the Erica Fusion Analog Delay/Chorus with external CV modulation from a Pittsburgh Modular VILFO. The Chorus then goes out into the Erica Fusion series VCA with gain/bias offset and modulation from a WMD Multimode Envelope. This goes into a mixer before recording.

The E350 Y and X positions are morphed from a sample and hold which is the Frequency Central Ultra Wave. The Ultra Wave goes into a Manhattan Analog CVP for some slew to smooth the changes. This is clocked at x4 the clock speed on a 4ms SCM, the main pitch sequence is also the x4 clock going into a Turing Machine, then into a ADDAC 207 Quantizer feeding the E350's 1v/oct input. The quantizers trigger out gates the WMD envelope.

The x1 clock triggers a Doepfer Quad ADSR with envelopes going to the exponential FM on an Intellijel Dixie with the sine wave out going into a uVCA with a second envelope trigger the VCA. This creates the simple kick. The Turing Machine noise out going into the second VCA channel and is trigger by a third envelope running at x2 the clock speed. These are both mixed into the main riff before taking a single out to record.

Manual wiggling was of the E350 wave banks (switch), CVP level to bring in and out sample and hold wavetable modulation, Delay/Chorus rate, internal / external mod switch, delay time and feedback. And finally the input levels of the VCA and chorus.

MODULE SPECIFIC PATCH NOTES

VCO Mixer - AFG waveforms into the mixer

VCA - E350 with CV modulation on the VCA from WMD Multimode Envelope

Filter - Braids in supersaw mode with sample and hold modulation from Frequency Central Ultra Wavefilter cut off

Ring Mod - Two Intellijel Dixie sine waves, manually wiggling tuning of each.

Analog Delay/Chorus - mix of oscillators into the unit."

All the sounds you here come straight from the device."

KPS61 Analog Synthesizer Demo

Published on Jun 8, 2014 lofistudioz·9 videos

"A simple demo showing some modules and its sounds. The audio came directly from the synth with no FX added.

The KPS61 Analog Synthesizer is a DIY synth within an old electronic piano wooden cabinet.
KPS61 is the name of the original piano.
We named the synth after it keeping in mind that the original cabinet is now "possessed" by a synthesizer (have you ever heard about electronic possession?).
It is a funny idea and our synth is so caled 'Keyboard Possession Synthesizer'. We laught a lot about it and also this way it doesn't need a new silk screening for the cabinet.

KPS61:
3 VCO (Saw/Pulse)
3 LFO (Triangle/Square)
1 White Noise Generator
1 Ring Modulator (with selectable input)
1 VCF 24dB/Oct
1 VCA
2 ADSR generators (for VCF and VCA)"

The Electric Music Box - Sketches Vol. 2: With a Little Help

""The Electric Music Box - Sketches Volume 2: With a Little Help" is a project that uses the new Buchla Music Easel and just one (!) additional peace of gear for each track as only sound sources.

Like 'Volume 1' this release is in no way meant to be an Easel 'Demo'. It will take you to a lot of dark places where you can find everything from a bit of hope to loneliness and fear.

So close your eyes and enjoy the journey!

And if you enjoyed this at least a bit, please give 'The Electric Music Box - Sketches Volume 1: The Solo Parts' another Chance!"

Grayscale Algorhythm vs Nord Drum 2

Grayscale Algorhythm vs Nord Drum 2 from Grayscale on Vimeo.

"Short clip showing one Algorhythm and two Binary modules sequencing a Nord Drum 2.

Steps 1 and 3 of the Algorhythm are patched out to one Binary (off screen). The combined trigger output is sent to the first input of the ND, triggering the noisy low-frequency sound.

Steps 2, 4, and 6 are patched to another Binary and manipulated further during playback. The output of this Binary is patched to the second input of the ND, triggering a high-frequency FM sound.

Steps 5 and 7 are patched directly to the third and fourth trigger inputs of the ND.

Step 8 is patched through the first channel of the Triatt and then sent to the fifth trigger input of the ND. Using the Triatt provides a way to dampen the intensity of the trigger or mute it completely.

The Pattern output of the Algorhythm is patched through the second channel of the Triatt and then sent to the sixth trigger input of the ND. This triggers a short pitched blip that also chokes the other sounds, giving a choppy vibrato effect as the decay of the other five sounds is cut off abruptly (audible around 1:11).

The pattern switches between random and linear playback after every 16 clock pulses, creating a beat that bounces back and forth between a repetitive segment and a completely random segment. This is done by patching a 1/32 clock divider from the A160 to the Mode CV input of the Algorhythm. Turning steps 1-8 on and off during playback provides additional variation.

Apart from an oscillator to provide a clock source for the Algorhythm, no other modules were used. All sounds are being generated by the Nord Drum 2."
