Grove Audio GMS-634EU Programmable Processor Eurorack Module Kit

via Grove Audio

"The GMS-634EU Programmable Processor has a Teensy 3.1 processor board with a 32 bit ARM Cortex-M4 processor, USB interface, 96MHz clock, 512K of program memory and 65K of data memory. The supporting module includes two analog inputs with attenuators, two extra potentiometer-controlled voltage sources, 2 analog outputs supported by a two channel 12 bit DAC, two gate level inputs, two gate level outputs, a two channel in and out audio interface with a 24 bit 96 KHz sample rate CODEC, a standard 5 pin DIN MIDI input and output, and a 3.5mm stereo headphone output with level control.

By using the Arduino IDE with the Teensyduino add-in users of this module can download their own sketches to the module to utilize the processing power and substantially larger program space contained in this processor. A number of modular synthesizer specific sketches are available and can be downloaded and run in this module using the Teensy support libraries and some minor code modifications. In addition, libraries are provided to allow users to access the provided stereo CODEC as a high quality stereo audio input and output. The input and output jacks support -10dB line level signals.

The module can be purchased assembled or in kit form. The kit includes a Teensy 3.1 processor with pre-installed headers. The surface mount header that is used to access more of the processor I/O is also pre-installed. The CODEC board is supplied with pre-installed headers, too. The CODEC board has a socket for a mini-SD card, accessible from the rear of the module, and has been configured with SD card libraries in the Arduino environment."

Circuit bent Casio CTK-500 (SCI-FI2)

Published on Aug 21, 2014 ScrewedCircuitz

"This was recorded in a semi-abandoned cottage.

Exploring my circuit bent instrument and its many sound textures... A bit of a lengthy video but for those of you who enjoy ambient sound, this shouldn't be a problem.

Also, I would like to thank Alienjunkyard Circuit Bent Devices for giving me a hand on this build. This project was completed within a week's time. I desperately wanted this synth ready for the Montreal Mini Maker Faire and without his collaboration, this couldn't of been possible.

Much appreciated and... I know it wasn't easy working with me ;-)

So... Thanks wherever you are!

The build:

- 42 glitch points
- Pitch control
- Passive Ring Mod with selector for oscillator/input
- EXTREME delay
- 4 audio outputs

There will be more clips to come with Sebastian Trafalgar exploring the drum loops/glitch possibilities from this machine.

You can have a listen to some of his own work here:

"Hard to find or build LXR drum machine in very good condition. It’s a great drum machine, with a combination of subtractive and FM synthesis as well as sample support. Connectivity on standard 5-pin MIDI DIN as well as MIDI over USB. Two stereo outputs and full panning control means four independent outs, giving you lots of flexibility when mixing.

The sequencing is very simple, but if you want to go deeper it has pattern randomization functionality and it can even randomize patches. The operating system is very easy to update or you can install user tweaked operating system software from the Sonic Potions forum. Basically it’s a lot of fun and drum machine that will be a classic soon enough."

"SERIAL NUMBER: 783673
MANUFACTURED: May 1987 (Online Roland Serial Number Check - 2nd year of production!)
ROM VERSION: 1.04 (Important bugs fixed, needs only 1 chip not 3 if you wish to upgrade!)

This was one of the flagships of the Roland mid 80s synths, 24 DCOs total that can be used as either 2 (Dual) layers as a 6 note 4 osc synth or as a single layer (whole) 12 note polyphonic. In 12 note mode it's particularly useful for long release pads and strings as you won't run out of notes when you change chords (unlike the JX-8P which is restricted to 6 notes maximum). Layering it up in 6 note poly mode provides for some very rich sounds that can be output in various ways using the jacks on the back for expansive stereo.

You can play/audition the sounds on the synth by pressing 'enter' + 'shift' as this turns the number keys into a mini keyboard, octave can be changed with the arrow keys. Quite handy if you want to program it away from your keyboards.

Note: This unit has v 1.04 ROMS on both sound boards and assigner Board. This means it has many of the most important bug fixes and improvements already in place but you can upgrade further or even swap in custom chips that add some very cool new features (Details can be given if you are unaware of where/how). There is even a mod on the way that could possibly add PWM along with 2 extra (faster) envelopes, better MIDI spec and some other great additions. As it has 1.04 ROMS I believe if you wish to upgrade to the latest Firnware you'll only need to swap the Assigner board ROM not all 3 (Don't quote me on that though)."

"TGD DEMO! EURORACK! YES!"

"THE GREAT DESTROYER!

Eurorack edition!

I've been aching to make synth music and modules for years, and now it's finally time!

TGD:E is an adaptation of our flagship pedal, with a lot of added functionality for the modular world.

In addition to the Starve, Gain, Tone, and Volume controls we have CV in for gain and tone, and a CV output, blasting varied signals from audio rate square waves to bursts of LFO.

As you would expect, TGD:E will fuzz up your signal like there's no tomorrow, and the old "unplug the lead" trick works just as well on the module as it does on the pedal, always a crowd pleaser. "WOW THAT PERSON HAS MAGIC ELECTRIC SOUND HANDS!"

Only you and we will know the truth, you're a smart shopper with excellent taste in synthesizer modules."

Two potentiometers allow for setting levels and sensitivity of both optical resistors. The circuit is simple to build and powered by either a 9V battery or a 9V AC Adapter. Loads of fun and highly adaptable/modifiable, you'll see the light with the Synthrotek Evil Eye Optical Theremin!

Uses a 9VDC center negative power supply (not included) or 9V battery."

"The PT2399 Delay Dev Delay is a great way to get started experimenting with the PT2399 Echo Processor IC!

Features:

Get all of our mods pre-installed! The feedback "feedBLAST" mod momentarily injects feedback into the circuit gives you more control over rate, feedback, and mix. The Warp mod adds a tremolo effect. Check out the mods here!
Based off of Princeton's PT2399 Echo Application Circuit (straight off the datasheet), this PCB gives you the exact set-up recommended by the manufacturer. Engineers and hobbyists alike can use this basic design to modify it for their own purposes The PT2399 Echo Processor IC is a very versatile circuit with adjustable input/output filtering, delay length, wet/dry mix, and a lot of unexplored potential!
On-board 5V regulator allows for multiple powering options and interfacing with digital circuits. Use a 9V battery, 9-18V Center Negitive AC Adapter (not included).
2 potentiometer placement positions adhere to the datasheet schematic, allowing for direct control over how much delay is present in the output signal. Delay length is variable from fast slapback echo to long dub-style repeats to noisy long repeat madness! Mix allows you to set the wet/dry portions of the signal.
The PT2399 Echo IC was designed to mimic old-school analog BBD delay with modern digital sampling technology. Repeats degrade at higher delay lengths, resulting is a very natural well-filtered reproduction of your synth/guitar tone.
Enclosure Dimensions: 4.38' x 3.25' x 2'"

These have been out of production for a while and rarely come up for sale so grab it while you can. It can make speech-like sounds and synthetic robot voices as well as beeps, alarms, noise and retro-style sci-fi sounds. Can be played using the joysticks (which also transmit MIDI data so can be used as MIDI controllers) or by using an external keyboard or sequencer. Massive Update for ex-Waldorf Wolfram Franke's Stroke Machine

iTunes: Stroke Machine - Wolfram Franke

"What's New in Version 2.0.0
• Maximum settings of Bar, Beat and Step highly increased. Now a pattern can have up to 16 bars with 16 beats with 16 steps each. This amounts to up to 256 64th notes per bar and 4096 64th notes in total. Please don't blame us if you mess up your patterns, but send us audio links to interesting tracks you've created with it.
• AudioBus 2 support including saving and loading of the current Stroke Machine kit.
• Added Mix view with important mix parameters for the percussion and melody sounds like Mute, Solo, Volume, Pan, FX Bus and FX Send. To automate them, activate the respective Modulation Sequence.
• Added Pad view with big, velocity-sensitive pads for the 12 percussion sounds.
• Added MIDI channel selection for each melody sound and all percussion sounds to 1 to 16, Omni (all channels) and Off (no channel).
• Layer sounds by setting several parts to the same MIDI channel.
• Added Route button. When activated, incoming MIDI notes are routed to the currently selected sound independent of the received MIDI channel. Other sounds on the same MIDI channel are layered. When deactivated, the MIDI channel of the incoming notes is evaluated and the respective sounds are played (previous versions of Stroke Machine decided automatically if incoming MIDI notes should be routed to the selected part or not depending on the MIDI input port).
• Added Internal/External Sequencer button. When using Stroke Machine with Inter-App Audio or AudioBus, you can now select if you want to continue using the internal sequencer or the sequencer of the host app.
• Added MIDI Learn. Tap the CC button to show the MIDI Learn view. Tap on any of the lime green edit buttons to arm MIDI Learn and move a dial or slider that emits MIDI Control Change messages on your hardware controller. The MIDI Control Change message is immediately assigned to this particular parameter. The MIDI channel is learned as well, so you can assign a MIDI Control Change message on MIDI channel 5 to a sound receiving notes on MIDI channel 4. Assigning a particular MIDI Control Change message to a different parameter removes the previous assignment. To remove an assignment manually, double-tap the respective MIDI Learn button. The learned MIDI Control Change messages are saved with the Kit. Please note that some MIDI Control Change messages are excluded, those are Bank Select MSB (#0), Modulation Wheel (#1), Channel Volume (#7), Pan (#10), Expression (#11), Bank Select LSB (#32), Sustain Pedal (#64) and the Mode Switches (#120 to #127). They are reserved for future use.
• Added MIDI Program Change reception. Upon receiving a MIDI Program Change message, Stroke Machine loads the Quick Access Pattern with the respective number.
• Changed Master Volume to only control the volume of Stroke Machine rather than the overall iPad volume. This way it doesn't affect other IAA or AudioBus app.
• Added Clear Pattern button in Kit view. Tapping it clears the pattern notes while keeping the sounds and other settings.
• Added LFO phase beat sync. Activate Clock and Mono and set the Startphase to any value except random (leftmost slider position) to get an LFO cycling which is hard-synced to the beat rather than to the moment when a note is played. The former behaviour is still available when Mono is switched off.
• Fixed crash when tapping Next or Previous Kit while in topmost library folder.
• Fixed crash with Share Kit/Sound on iOS 6.
• Fixed crash when editing notes while recording.
• Fixed freeze when an interruption occured such as an incoming Skype call.
• Fixed an issue with soloed parts when loading a kit.
• Fixed possible double playback of notes on first step when syncing to MIDI Clock.
• Fixed LFO rate exceeding valid bounds."
