"THIS IS AN ITALIAN EKO SYNTH - CIRCA 1979. IT IS A VERY RARE PRE-SET SYNTH.
It is in full working order there is a little crackle to one or two of the pots, not all that noticeable and easily sorted with some contact cleaner.
Some tremendous sounds are to be had from this machine, huge fat basses, big whomping sounds, nice leads. The presets sound nothing like the I streets they are supposed to represent, who wants it to sound like a pan pipe anyway!
The P15 is monophonic and totally analog. Although it says "Digital System" on the front panel, this only refers to the underlying circuitry inside using some (at the time) modern integrated circuit chip technologies in place of traditional transistor based technology for a more stable result. The signal path is still entirely analog from start to finish, and the result is very warm sounding."

It is currently in production and will be out in Mid October 2014.

"Jacob Korn [pictured] on using the Zaquencer

With releases on Labels such as Uncanny Valley, Running Back, Skylax or Permanent Vacation, Jacob Korn now belongs to the spearheads of the German house scene with his tracks and remixes as well as his live sets much in demand.

Being involved in the development of the Zaquencer Firmware in the final stage, he now added it to his arsenal for creating his unique sound:

'I already use mostly hardware synths and sequencers, but the Zaquencer still brings something to the table.

It´s as fun and intuitive as an oldschool analog sequencer, but it goes much deeper with possibilities if you want it to.'"

Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 - Sequencer Applications

Published on Sep 26, 2014 experimentalsynth

"The Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 is the most useful synth I've ever played. I got to borrow one for a short while and it quickly became the central control and performance hub of my analog and digital gear. In addition to its great internal sounds, with four assignable CV Outputs (and four inputs!), it (much like the Moog Multi-Pedal) is able to lend new functionality to your older existing gear.

For example, a Moog Voyager sounds great but it has (for all practical purposes) no MIDI clock synced features. Pair it with a Pro 2 though and you can control things like the Voyager's filter cutoff, volume, pan, wave shape and more with the Pro 2's clock-synced LFOs, step sequencer tracks, envelopes and a variety of other elements.

I had a lot o fun connecting to multiple synths, starting the sequencer, and tweaking knobs. This video does not go into minute detail on showing how I did all this. It is meant as a quick look at some amazing possibilities. Think of it more as an "inspirational" than a "tutorial". I wish I had more time to explore applications of the the Pro 2 while I had it.

"Having just got a few new additions to the studio, I thought I'd test them out and make a classic. Always good to hear this song from the Grandfather of synths Jean Michel Jarre. Hope you like it."

via James Mcculloch on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge:

"Ok I made this quickly this morning as a demo of what the System 1 and Novation Mini Nova can do together. heres a breakdown of the track.
Track 1:- Arpeggio made on SH2 plug out, used a saw and a square and a tiniest bit of filter.
track 2:- Bass line , SH2 plug out, 2 squares, no pwm, little filter but mostly closed.
track 3:- Lead SH2 plug out, 2 saws, slight detune, midrange filtering with native delay and reverb
track 4:- drums straight tom ultra beat in logic
track 5:- Jarre drum sound, Mini nova using a saw at incredibly low pitch and then HPF frequency gaffing until I got there.
track 6:- bridge strings, Mini nova, 3 saws with the attack slackened off a lot, took 2 filters running in series to get the airy sound
tracks 7:- Strings, MiniNova, there's no phaser effect so I had to stack saws and slightly detune, you can hear the detune in the track, i don't like it but i was in a hurry.
tracks 8:- Chorus lead was a sync patch i found on the mini nova, not much manipulation needed, again in a hurry
track 9+10:- white noise 1 on slow lfo sweep on mini nova, white noise 2 was the system 1 with a tight attack and slowish decay throughout the filter EG .
That's about it."

Great Sounds. Very crisp and clear.
It's got the lot: A bunch of reverbs and distortions, gates, flangers, phaser, chorus, delays etc.

Has 30 presets, and room for 60 more presets to be programmed in. Dead simple to use.

The unit has 2x extra switches added to boost and enhance the on-board modulation (i.e. flangers, phaser, chorus). These switches are 2x directional so there are actually 4x settings."

Playing with a Waldorf Pulse Synthesizer [HD]

Published on Sep 26, 2014 Pixeltruppen

Note this is a playlist of Pixeltruppen's videos starting with the Pulse. Some synth spotting follows.

Walldorf Pulses on eBay

"The German company, which emerged from the wreckage of digital synthesis pioneers PPG, has produced numerous great products over the years, but for some inexplicable reason they’re rarely the first name on people’s minds when they think of classic synth bargains.

If you’re in the market for a fat, powerful analogue monosynth and you don’t consider the Pulse, you’re missing out. If this unassuming little 2U rack module had the a Moog, Roland or Korg logo on the front panel it’d be a bona fide legend.

With three fully analogue VCOs, two LFOs, two envelope generators, an awesome Moog-inspired resonant low-pass filter and a versatile arpeggiator, the Pulse can hold its own with just about any synth module you care to mention. Unlike some of the cheaper alternatives, the Pulse has memory slots for patch storage and every parameter can be controlled via MIDI. The design may be over 15 years old, but this is a synth which can slot into a modern studio setup with ease.

The Pulse+, which replaced the original model in 1997, is the one to go for. It’s virtually the same as its predecessor but features CV/gate sockets for interfacing with older analogue gear and an external audio input for processing signals through that excellent filter.
