"Live looping with synths, drum machines, and a little red keyboard I found in a thrift shop. All hardware instruments and effects. I'm using the Boomerang III Phrase Sampler to loop and reverse sounds from the Casio CZ-3000 and experimenting with reverb+delay. Backtrack recorded on Pro Tools and dumped to the reel tape.
For those curious, the droplet sound was synthesized on the JP8000. It is a noise that has to do with the filter resonance (and the JP's noise waveform ;)

"I wanted to hear how well the Wolf Bass sounded with some external analog processing. Decided to try doing some analog syncing while I was at it so the Moog Moogerfooger MuRF was the perfect choice. The Wolf sync out produces about 2x the pulses than the MuRF wants, making it go at 300BPM. The effect was cool though so I went with it. Hope you enjoy! More music below.

the rubberized sides have much wear as seen in pics but this is endemic to the Redbacks and Virus KC's

display is perfectly vibrant and defined. my camera just could'nt capture this in the lighting of the room (in reference to the 1st pic)

recently replaced RAM battery (date of the battery swap is recorded on the bottom of the synth)

auxiliary function labels on the synth can easily be removed if so desired without any residue left behind"

J4 is a custom instrument for Kontakt 5 (5.2.1 required), based on a legendary analogue polysynth from the late 1970s – an ever-present on every synth enthusiast’s ‘Best Ever’ list! J4 is a single oscillator, analogue-style synthesizer featuring 6 waveforms, a sub square wave and a noise generator.
We’ve included 2 sets of samples with J4 – a DI set with Neve-style valve pre-amp/EQ, and a second set, through the same pre-amp and EQ but then recorded to ‘old-stock’ tape on a Studer A807 quarter inch reel-to-reel. making 1GB of sample content in total, there’s plenty of varoety for your productions.
J4 can be set to function in 4-voice mode (just like the original) or switch to full poly and take advantage of the extensive synth conttrols to creat some truly epic sounds of your own!

The Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 08 has been a mainstay in both our live and studio rig for many years now. It is one of the very few truly analog, modern, polyphonic synths and its tone, compact size, and instant playability contribute to the reason why we've used it time and time again.

However, we've always been puzzled why in certain parts of the web, the 08 catches a bad rap. It is neither thin, nor harsh, unless of course you want it to be. It has a wonderful brassy tone characteristic that can instantly remind of the Oberheim OB8, but with the dynamics, tightness, and bravado innate to the best Sequential Circuits offered in their heyday.

These are all our custom INHALT patches we've programmed on the Prophet and recorded straight into Pro Tools HD in stereo. You'll notice on some sections that there is strong modulation on the panning and that comes courtesy of the "Pan Spread" parameter on the 08. Absolutely no external effects processors or MIDI was used. It's just what you can do on board the synth with either straight playing or employing the step sequencer and arpeggiator built into the Prophet!
