"Up for sale is a very nice Korg Polysix from 1982. The synthesizer is in full working order. All 6 oscillators and all other parts of the synth work perfectly. The synthesizer has been professionally calibrated by a synth repair technician, so all 6 voices are perfectly in tune. All the potentiometers and switches are scratch free. All of the keys are working and none are broken.
The memory storage battery has also been replaced with a new battery so it will work again for a few 10 years. There is no corrosion or damage to the circuit board from the previous battery.

Cosmetically it is good and clean but there is some corrosion on the left and right edges of the front panel (see pictures). The corners of the wooden cheeks are also worn (see pictures)."

All Electrolytic Capacitors that needed to be replaced have been carefully removed and replaced with a correct part

The entire key bed had been cleaned and disassembled, only if a key has to be realigned
(the triggering system works flawlessly and requires to wires to trigger a key, every key works perfectly)

The keyboard buss bars have been fully cleaned to insure a flawless triggering system

The high level jack was replaced with a fully functioning 1/4" switchcraft jack

All jacks have been cleaned through out to insure connectivity when inserting a plug

This Arp Odyssey is flawless and works as it should! It has been professionally calibrated and will be guaranteed for 30 days after receiving."

"Vintage ARP 2800 Odyssey MKI with CV and audio jacks. original 4023 filter. This is another one of the earliest blackface arp odysseys and it's only slightly newer than the other one i listed recently.

Recent service. This is a great example of a very original odyssey. It has a few cosmetic blemishes from normal use of a vintage instrument. This item is very clean. The main A B and C boards have never been removed. The faders do slide and function well. The Waveform select switch for the Sample and Hold mixer has broken off so that it is flat. It does work and move as it should, but has to be moved with something that can reach it. Fortunately, that switch is pretty rarely used; so, i chose to leave it alone. Recent service included the keybushings being replaced and the power supply was recapped. This is a great playing synthesizer. It scales, plays in tune well, and sounds great.

100% working as-described or it's returnable, as covered by ebay policy."

"Vintage ARP 2810 Odyssey MKII with 4035 "moog" filter and factory CV and audio jacks. 4035 filter. This is one of the earliest odyssey II synthesizers. This is truly rare. As-far-as collectible synthesizers go this is one of the big ones. It was produced in a time when ARP was changing the design of the odyssey rapidly. It is an early enough MKII model to have the 4035 filter but late enough to have factory CV jacks. I believe there to be only a few made in this configuration.

Odyssey 2810 mkii A-II B-I and C-I with 4035 filter module

The condition on this synthesizer is very good. It has a few minor cosmetic blemishes as is normal on a vintage instrument. Great vintage instrument ready for any serious collection.

This item has undergone a recent full restoration. This keyboard is a masterpiece. It scales and plays very well.

LFO free run option was added to the noise select switch. When that switch is up (on white noise) the lfo will not re-trigger with every key press. This nondestructive modification can be reversed. I'm happy to answer any and all questions about the service this odyssey has received.

The filter module is all original. It sounds great. Lots of character with that classic liquid transistor ladder filtered sound.

This item is warrantied. All work on this odyssey is covered for one year from date of purchase. This warranty doesn't cover work done by anyone else or any shipping cost to return the synthesizer for warranty service."

"ORIGINAL VINTAGE Moog Minimoog MODEL D Old OSC Analog Synth ,s/n 6XXX 1974

Very clean inside and out. 6xxx serial number. Production date labeled as: Dec 1974. This is an OLD oscillator board. Has a few scratches, dings, and some wear in the finish from normal use, overall the synthesizer looks very good for a vintage instrument that just turned 40. Recently serviced. Plays very well. It looks like it is all original on the inside with the exception of the key-bushings that were replaced during recent service."

This item has received a full restoration including: full recap, new keybusings, all i.c.'s are socketed; and the faders have been removed, cleaned and rebuilt. This item has been thoroughly calibrated. This odyssey is warrantied for one year including parts and labor against failure during normal operation.

This is a very solid odyssey iii. It scales and plays intune well. This is a stable analog keyboard. Expect some blemishes from normal use of a vintage instrument, but overall cosmetic condition is good. The leather sides have shrank a small amount, but still look good (see pictures.)"

The Wavetable Synthesizer by Seth Kranzler

The Wavetable Synthesizer from Seth Kranzler on Vimeo.

MATRIXSYNTH reader Seth Kranzler wrote in to share his latest project, The Wavetable Synthesizer. Seth is a student in the ITP program, an experimental New Media graduate program at NYU, and this was his term project. Be sure to see his site for some of his other creations. The following is some info on The Wavetable Synthesizer for the archives. Be sure to see the second video below. I also created a new Seth Kranzler channel as I do for all makers featured on the site.

"The Wavetable Synthesizer utilizes what I have dubbed 'creative synthesis'. Instead of indirectly affecting waveform shape with envelopes, LFO’s, and oscillators, the Wavetable Synthesizer allows the user to directly control the waveform shape using 12 sliders and two knobs. Eight of the sliders control the overall shape of the wave (acting much like 'attractors' on a line), while two knobs control how the points are interpolated (smooth, triangular, or square) and at what resolution (from fine to coarse). The four sliders labelled 'A', 'D', 'S', and 'R' are used for attack, decay, sustain, and release respectively (more information on that here). Users can access saved waveforms with a bank of buttons, and when selected, can watch the controller transform automatically to these settings. The rightmost knob allows for control of the transition speed between presets."

"The software for the Wavetable [see video below] is where all sound synthesis takes place. Due to familiarity and available resources, Processing (Java) was used. The first challenge in creating the software was to create a smooth waveform from only eight distinct points. In order to accomplish this, an interpolation function needed to be utilized. While the math to perform these interpolations is readily accessible, Java also has libraries available to aid in this. The image to the right shows comparisons of the Apache Lagrange (white), spline (green), and linear (red) interpolations. Ultimately, the spline and linear interpolations were used in conjunction with a "square wave" interpolation.

In order to then play the waveform, the minim wavetable function was implemented. The MidiBus library handled all midi communication."

On the future of The Wavetable Synthesizer

"I’d like to continue working on this project and rebuild the software side in MAX/MSP. Ultimately, it would be great to move away from processing as it is not ideal for sound synthesis. Since I would be programming this in MAX, I also plan to make it a Max for live device. It would be great to be able to distribute it for free and give back to the Max for Live community."

Analogue Solutions Europa Analog MIDI Sequencer RARE

Update: the item has been re-listed. Note, this one is US ONLY - there is no international shipping for this item.

"For sale, a near-mint Analogue Solutions Europa MIDI sequencer. Pattern-based sequencing styled after the Roland TB-303 and TR-606. 17 assignable channels (16 note + 1 drum) via MIDI, 8 trigger outs, and even external clock signals. (For you Juno 6 owners, this means you can sync the arpeggiator to the Europa or external source!) 16 steps with assignable notes available on side of unit (see pictures) - very easy and fun to input notes and change the patterns. Designed to have no sub-menus - so it's a really approachable unit for someone just starting off with sequencers. Solid metal chassis, styled in a white retro pattern."

"Jag vill ha en egen måne" - on Roland JV-35

Published on Dec 29, 2014 organfairy

"I got this keyboard very cheap because it was pretty obvious that it had been in the hands of teenagers (it came from a school).
I could off course try and contact the local Roland supplier to get some new keys if possible. But I decided that I would try and cut some pieces from an old worn out keyboard from an organ I scrapped many years ago.
The operation went relatively well so I will probably keep it like this.

At first sight the Roland JV-35 keyboard is just another general MIDI affair. But because it has a build-in signal processor and edit sliders for cut-off, resonance, attack, decay, release, and vibrato it is actually a quite nice little synthesizer. At least that is my impressions after using it for a short while.

The music is from Sweden this time. Ted Gärdestad was a very popular teenage star in the early 1970's. Backed up by Björn Ulveaus and Benny Anderson - who later formed ABBA - he had several hits in his home country. And one of them was this song called "Jag vill ha en egen måne" which I here play on the Roland JV-35."

DEXED - Open source DX7 librarian / emulator VSTi demo

Published on Nov 4, 2014 artofdreammusic

"An insight into the powers of DEXED v0.8, the open-source DX7 librarian / emulator VSTi.

This great VSTi can be used both as a DX7 librarian to edit patches and send them to your DX7 synth (if you own one) but also as an emulator as it's built in engine recreates quite faithfully I think the sound of the DX7 synth.

The sounds in this demo come from the DEXED engine, not from a hardware DX7... Sometimes reverb has been added in the daw (and in this case, it's noted).

DEXED was created by Digital Suburban and can be downloaded for free here : https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed

DEXED loads original DX7 sysex, so google them to find great presets to start working with it... but never forget that true synth lovers like to tweak their machines, and this has never been that easy for the DX as it is since DEXED exists :-)

Have fun with DEXED... and your DX7 if you are the lucky owner of one."
