"If you are reading this, you already know what you are looking at. What sets this synth apart is the fact that it has been kept in a clean, smoke-free, studio environment for the first 8 years of its life and then in a music room unused for the balance of the time.

It has never been taken to a live gig, had drinks spilled on it, or been dropped or sweated all over. I am mainly a guitarist and producer. It has been lightly used for bass lines or fill parts in music I was producing in New Orleans in the early 80s. Since then, it has been sadly unfulfilled... sitting on an acoustic piano in my music room. It works fine, and is a one owner piece. The serial # illustrates the classic nature of this vintage piece. It is original and unmolested... not hacked, or customized in any way."

Whimsical-Raps Mangrove - INSTRUMENTAL SPECTRUM SHAPING

Published on Jan 5, 2015 kuxaan sum

"Just plugged in the Whimsical-Raps Mangrove Formant Oscillator. Drums courtesy of Drum Dokta via Mutable Instruments Grids with some CV over Map X & Y & Chaos.

I didn't realize my ER-101 was not updated so I didn't get the ER-102 working in this patch tonight...soon...soon."

This is the first Whimsical-Raps post. Just spotted it via kuxaan sum's video above. Below are details and a couple of videos from Whimsical-Raps. The first video was from Dec 15, 2014, so technically they are new to 2014.

"Mangrove holds the essence of an instrument in the form of an oscillator. Sounds are defined not only by pitch but by spectra. As the earth shakes under foot, a whistle blows on the wind.

FORMANT represents the timbral structure of the instrument, defined independent of its pitch. Waves shift across the range, bringing to life a series of undertones. There is quicksand between these divisions – tiny moments of uncertainty – where multiphonics reside. These underbranches fold melodies onto themselves far down into microtones.

Frequency modulation feels altogether different, with a pair making the most corporeal of complex oscillators. With integral FM indexing, a cross-modulated duo will unleash a snarling Bunyip. With SYNChronicity they will sing the same tongue through their own voice. Self-patched tones open another box of uncertainty. Divided FORMANTS to control frequency; shapeless SQUARES modulating AIR pressure."

Axoloti - New Hardware Synthesizer with Modular Software Seeks Funding on Indiegogo

Published on Dec 25, 2014 Axoloti

Playlist:
2. Axoloti basic synthesis tutorial

3. H2SO4 - "Step sequencer, oscillators, filter, distortion acid. Screencast and audio straight recorded from Axoloti, no post-production. The screaming sound and detuning are 100% intentional. It's not a track, just demo'ing some sonic power. No samples used."

4. The hoover sound - "3 PWM oscillators, notch filter, chorus FX. Played via MIDI from the LMMS sequencer."

5. Tybett - "Three 'Feedback Delay Network' resonators played by filtered pulses in a polyrhythmic pattern. No processing done outside Axoloti."

6. Amon is broke - "A beatslicer in Axoloti!"

"Axoloti is a platform that blends sketching of digital audio algorithms with the musical playability of standalone hardware.

The Axoloti Patcher offers a “patcher” environment similar to Max/MSP, Pure Data or Reaktor.

The patches run on a standalone powerful microcontroller board : Axoloti Core.

Look at some examples of what it is up to.

Optionally, it can connect to the Axoloti Control, which allows to navigate through patches and adjust parameters away from the computer.

It is still ongoing development, current source code is on GitHub.

Axoloti Control allows you to navigate through patches and adjust parameters away from the computer, without having to assign parameters to MIDI controllers.

It has a graphical monochrome LCD, navigation buttons, 4 endless encoders and 4-by-4 pushbuttons with LEDs.

It’s designed to enable interactions like controlling a 16-step sequencer, or as a 4-track arrangement controller, or adjusting 4 different values of one selected object like an ADSR envelope."

The Roland TR-8

Published on Jan 5, 2015 Dylan Nau

"Melodic type performance using only the Roland TR-8. I was inspired by a similar performance by someone else here on youtube on the TR8 and thought it was brilliant so I tried my own style of that. If you know the person please send along his info so I can properly pay tribute. Anyhow, cheers and thanks for checking it out."

Yamaha TX816 SN 3493 with 8 TF1 Modules

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"The TX816 is a monster of DX and FM digital synthesis. It is a unique system in that it is a rack unit that could take up to eight TF1 modules. A TF1 module is basically a DX7 condensed down to a single circuit board with almost no front panel controls. Definitely designed for use with external hardware and software controllers the TX816 allows you to easily carry around up to eight DX7s! Software such as MOTU Unisyn, Emagic SounDiver, or even another DX7 can be used to program the sounds in each module via MIDI.

Each TF1 module consists of a 16-voice, 6-operator digital FM synth engine. So a complete TX816 with all eight TF1 modules would offer up to 128 voices and 48 operators! Each TF1 also features an indepednent audio out (XLR) and MIDI I/O for a total of eight audio outputs and MIDI I/O's. It also has one global MIDI in/out port with 8-part multitimbrality, but no common stereo or mix output."

"Very Rare Philips PMC100 Composer Synthesizer
In Absolutely Pristine condition for its age comes with Manual/Instructions, original Earphones
Would be a superb Christmas present for enthusiasts

Heres some info i found online

This Philips Personal Music Composer PMC100 is pretty awesome: Launched in 1986, it had a nine-channel FM synth with a 100 presets, a membrane keyboard, 8k of ram, a built in cassette recorder, MIDI and buttons for a strap. It's hard to imagine just how fly you'd look bouncing around a stage wearing one of these. It was designed by British PC music pioneer Lyndsay Williams, who claims to have designed the first ever PC soundcard, for an Olivetti in 1987"

Electribe & Gadget Transition Test

Korg Electribe2s on eBay

"Just trying out a combination of the new electribe and an iPad Air2 running Gadget as a possible future live set up for me. This is my first go at performing any sort of transition between songs using the two. The electribe was providing sync and transport control to the iPad via a CCK, audio from the iPad was run back into the electribe set to Audio Thru mode.

The audio was recorded straight from the output of the electribe, via Mogami cables to a Lynx Hilo A/D/A, and then recorded as 24bit/44.1kHz wav file in Ableton Live 9. Warping turned off.

Hopefully that gives you a sense of what the new electribe really sounds like."
