Synton Fenix 1 - Filter modulation

Published on Jan 11, 2015 DJjondent

"LOve this baby,
I'm very very lucky to find a Fenix I (esp in Australia) as these are no longer produced.
I'm hoping she will intergrate well with my Serge, Driscol & NLC synths.

In the video I'm using just three modules (excluding the mixer):
VCO 1 - sine,square,ramp (& sub-oscillator 1 (a square wave 1 oct down) and sub-oscillator 2 )
VCF 3 - A low-pass filter. It has both 12db & 24db slopes plus 3 audio inputs.
LFO 1 - +ve triangle & square.

Olegtron* 4060

Olegtron* 4060 from Samuel van Dijk on Vimeo.

"The Olegtron* 4060 is a compact oscillator/divider box capable of creating unique signals and sequences through a revolutionary programming method of sticking components to it’s patchboard. The device can be used as a standalone sound generator that connects with a 3.5mm stereo jack output or to control a wide variety of machines, such as toys or synths with control voltage, clock or gate input.

Here the 4060 is controlling the Anyware Tinysizer through clock and gate signals. The 4060's output is going through the Tinysizer's multimode filter. Thanks to Olli Suorlahti for donating this fun and very powerful machine!

Bleep Labs / Gieskes - 3TrinsRGBplus1c

Published on Jan 11, 2015 ISOTROPOSPHERE

"Analog Audio / Video Synthesizer - brief review

Just arrived to my door, unboxing shown before review. I of course unpackaged the power adapter, labeled it, and applied the Bleep Labs sticker (included) to the outside of the case prior to starting the camera.

Amendments to commentary: The source switches are to select video source of each oscillator- (Incoming video or self generating video). The big colored buttons at the bottom each have a corresponding colored led underneath and when lit are high range / off, low range for each oscillator. Red was also included in the audio mix with the green at the end versus what I said of being modulated by the blue channel.

This is a lengthy video yes, but, I am only scratching the surface of the capabilities of this device here and I apologize for my blathering.

This is the start of some serious video synthesis experimental exploration fun. Thank you Bleep Labs and Gieskes, it was quite a wait for this device but it was worth it.

I do believe this device may be available from Gieskes as a DIY kit as well as assembled from Bleep Labs.

Enjoy and get yours today!!!"

papernoise concertodrone mk3 (circuit-bent casio SK-)1 demo

Published on Jan 11, 2015 Hannes Pasqualini

"demo video of my circuit-bent SK-1.

INFO

0:30 mutlimode VCF, the concertodrone features a LP/HP synthacon-style filter with basic voltage control. The filter is pretty overdriven and has a nice nasty resonance

1:00 555-timer-based LFO. I've added a simple oscillator based around a 555-timer-IC. This one can be used as a modulator with the VCF or patched into any other jack for some unpredictable effects

2:00 lo-fi echo effect. I've added a PT2399-based echo/delay effect. I don't use it very often, because it's a bit too lo-fi and I should have extended the control over the parameters a bit more. Also I didn't include a proper dry/wet control

2:45 the paching! this is the interesting part. most of the patch points are taken from reed ghazalas famous guide. I've added a bunch of new ones and including a proper pitch control (using an LTC1799 from circuitbenders.co.uk)."

Update via papernoise in the comments:

"Improvising with the loopper and my new Concertodrone Mk3 (circuit bent Casio SK-1).
All sounds are coming from the Casio, no FX have been added (except for a subtle bit of reverb)."

Synth Pacifier?

Synth Rorschach #38

This one is a bit of a reverse synth rorschach. Usually it's a non synth item that reminds me of a particular synth or synths. When I saw the small thumbnail for this one, my first thought was what the heck is a pacifier doing in my synth feeds?! I guess it could be a little game piece or top as well. Steampunk eye piece? Synths are messing with my mind!.. That and it's a bit early for me. But no, don't use this as your pacifier, I'm guessing it's not food grade plastic.

YAMAHA DX7 SUPERMAX

Published on Jan 11, 2015 jerry dibella

"This is a little tutorial/demo of how I mount my SUPERMAX expansion board for the YAMAHA DX7 mk1.
The SUPERMAX card is fantastic, I bought it on the Ebay, from France, and it adds some great features to the DX7, you have 8 bank of memory allocation (256 user programs for save your patches), you have also a delay effect, stack function, detuting functions, midi functionality, a fantastic arpeggiator and a patch creator too! It has 64 preset on, that shows the new ability of your Supermax'd DX7...the first time it is a little strange, but then you start to know how it goes...it has balls! Yooooo!

Ciao!"
