Terratec Sine MB33 Mkii analog bass synth

via this auction

I don't believe I've ever seen this particular white model before. It has never been featured on the site before now. The following is some info from the listing:

"Up for sale is my MB33 Mk2, a rack-mountable true analog monophonic bass synthesizer with full MIDI implementation. It was originally developed in Bavaria by MAM (Music & More), but took the name of Terratec when the two companies joined forces in 2003.

The VCO is switchable between saw-tooth and square wave. Unlike on the earlier Mk1 version, there is also a sub-oscillator which can be mixed with either of the other two waveforms for ridiculously fat and punchy bass sounds. Also new on the Mk2 is an 18dB low pass filter (ie just like the TB303 - the Mk1 version's filter was 24dB) and a built-in distortion knob. Needless to say, there are also the usual controls for frequency cut-off, resonance, ENV mod, accent, decay, and autoslide, all of which can be sent/received via MIDI. Another feature, often overlooked for some reason, is a very useful VCF input for filtering external signals.

It really is a fantastic little synth. It can do the squealing growling 303 thing with ease, but the sub-oscillator and VCF input elevate it to another level of possibilities.

I've owned it from new and it's been very well looked after. Cosmetically it's in near-mint condition, and everything works exactly as it should. It comes complete with original box, Terratec PSU, and manual, which is also available online"

Altair Sequencer Project - How I did it - #00 hello world

How I did it - #00 hello world from Giorgio Sancristoforo on Vimeo.

"The altair says hello to Max!

The idea is simple: to make music with the Altair 8800
The first commercial Personal Computer made in 1975.
In the following episodes I will
• Interface the Altair with MaxMSP via serial port
- programming a drum machine in assembly
- program a generative orchestra in assembly and or MBASIC
- Explore OSC routing to other software (Processing), upd comms.
• Interface the Altair with an analog synthesizer: a Buchla Music Easel by using arduino and a breadboard.
The quest for controlling Max will be the first step, later I will dedicate the project to analog synths.
I'm going to post every episode here and on my website (giorgiosancristoforo.net)
I will explain every single byte and strategy of programming and share the Max patches for Windows and Mac OS.
so that 8080 enthusiasts could replicate the whole process.
It will be also a nice opportunity for electronic musicians to understand simple and fun microprocessors' programming techniques.
Any help, comments and critics from retrocomputing and assembly lovers, is more than welcome.

"Marcio McFly is an eclectic artist with interests ranging from analogue synthesizers for producing dancefloor-oriented techno acts, to guitar-based country music. Following the first machine-oriented experience withSpectacular Synthesizer, in 2009 Marcio founded "I CANI", later on "CANI GIGANTI", the well-acclaimed live-analog synthesizer project that rocked the dancefloors until 2013 with a real live-techno experience. The Marcio McFly "solo project" is really versatile, with music crossing different genres, and this lead to theNomination in the "Discovery" category at the QWARTZ New Electronic Music Awards (edition #6, Paris), with "Farsi le Foto", a masterpiece album also available in a super-ltd CD edition with unpublished rmxs. Marcio makes an intelligent use of his analogical synthesizers and drummachines, being a never-exhausted experimentalist of complex patterns, structures, and sounds. Marcio's recent focus has been directed in building-up a brand new techno-oriented live experience with modular synths and drum machines."

Cantor Digitalis on a Soundplane

Published on Feb 18, 2015 Mark Harris

"A short demo of cantor digitailis which Ive adapted to use with a Madrona Labs Soundplane.

Cantor Digitalis is an open source real time singing synthesiser, giving you control over many aspects of a vocal performance, including pitch, vocal effort, vowels etc.

The controls are pitch (X), larynx position (Y), vocal effort (pressure) on the right section of the soundplane, and the vowel space in X/Y on the left side.

Its a great piece of work, the Max code is really well written, and vocal synthesis engine is amazing... well beyond my understanding :)

Its hard to play well, but easy to get some fun sounds out of, and the voices can be eerily realistic when you get it right.

lots of fun, go check it out : http://cantordigitalis.limsi.fr
(the website has some fantastic examples of skilled players of it)"

"Cantor Digitalis is an open-source real-time singing synthesizer controlled by hand gestures. A wide variety of voices are available, from the classic vocal quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), to the extreme colors of childish, breathy, roaring, etc. voices. All the features of vocal sounds are entirely under control, as the synthesis method is based on a mathematic model of voice production, without prerecording segments.

The instrument is controlled using chironomy, i.e. hand gestures, with the help of interfaces like stylus or fingers on a graphic tablet or computer mouse. Vocal dimensions such as the melody, vocal effort, vowel, voice tension, vocal tract size, breathiness etc. can easily be controlled during performance, and special voices can be prepared in advance or using presets."

Make Noise RxMx & Cadavre Exquis

Published on Feb 18, 2015 MAKEN0ISE

"Vactrol-based 6-input, 3-output macro-lowpass gate and signal crossfader, based on Grant Richter’s circuit idea for applying “cadavre exquis” (aka exquisite corpse, a technique of serial blind composition) to modular synthesis. If modulated by a Wogglebug, one will achieve modular “cadavre exquis.” If patch programmed using a sequencer such as the Pressure Points/ BRAINS or RenĂ©, modular “mĂ©langer automatique” (automatic re-mixing) could be achieved. The Level and Strike parameters are similar to those of the Optomix where Level is controlling amplitude and frequency content simultaneously and Strike triggers the LPG (Low Pass Gate) circuit by “plucking” or “pinging” the vactrol, thus allowing it to impart its magically slow response time upon the amplitude of the signal being processed. The Channel parameter selects which of the 6 Low Pass Gate circuits is driven by the Level and Strike parameters and the Radiate parameter turns on channels adjacent to the selected channel. At maximum Radiate settings all six channels become active simultaneously. Radiate therefore allows for voltage control of the complexity of the mix ranging from 1 to 6 active sound sources, while Channel selects the focal point of the mix.

The GSi DMC-122 Dual Midi Console Keyboard Controller

GSi DMC-122 - Live Demo with Max Tempia

Published on Jan 23, 2015

"In this short video, Max Tempia uses the DMC-122 in what can be an example of a live situation where the USB port of the DMC-122 is connected to a small netbook running the Editor and playing the VB3-II sound, and MIDI OUT 2 is connected to a PC running Cubase that plays a sequence (drum and bass) and allows to play some virtual instruments. Max can switch between instruments by using drawbars and buttons on the DMC-122 control panel."

via GSi

"Your dream controller

Have you ever dreamed of the perfect MIDI controller for the studio,
the stage and every kind of instrument you wish to play?
Your dream has just come true.

More than just a MIDI controller

The GSi DMC-122 not only is a very solid yet portable dual manual MIDI controller with an organ-style interface.
It offers a full set of features that you won't find in no other controller.
It's a dual manual organ. It's a dual keyboard controller. It's a MIDI mixer, a control surface.

Your creativity's new home.

20 Drawbars, 6 Potentiometers.
1 Encoder, 22 buttons.
1 multiple button.
Pitch bender and modulation wheel.
Two 61-key "waterfall" keybeds
with Channel aftertouch.

Everything totally programmable.

4 individual MIDI outputs.
1 USB-MIDI connection.
2 inputs for continuous pedals.
Assignable sustain pedal input.
Power for your USB device.

Connects to your musical world.

Not only a mute keyboard

The GSi DMC-122 comes with a software editor application compatible with Windows and OS X. The editor allows to edit every single control and all global options, store and organize up to 32 complete setups, create and store three custom velocity curves, and much more.

At the simple press of a button, the editor program becomes the sound engine for the DMC-122 offering the sound of VB3 Version 2.

This means that the DMC-122 is not only a 'mute' MIDI controller. It can be your next full featured dual manual tonewheel organ simulator. And everything is based on the most realistic Hammond B3® simulation ever.

More voice to the choir

On the back of the DMC-122 there's an expansion slot. If no expansion is installed, the cover offers the fourth MIDI output. When filled with our powerful DSP engine the DMC-122 becomes a stand-alone keyboard bringing you the best of the most realistic physically modeled and sampled sounds from the decennial experience of GSi. We care for your future

The DMC-122 software can be easily updated at any time thanks to the Editor's built-in upgrade function."

"a new configuration for my Erthenvar / Pulp Logic lunchbox synth centered around the WMD Sequential Switch Matrix and Make Noise Phonogene. both are controlled by some custom layouts i made in touchOSC, and MIDI is being transmitted via the MIDI Implant tile.

this rig is really intented to function alongside the Korg Volcas and other similar instruments, with the SSM being very useful for routing clocks and audio between the boxes.

in this patch, a custom grid of touchOSC buttons selects presets from the SSM, which is routing audio inputs from the Volca, Monotribe and pre recorded guitar loop into the Phonogene. Monotribe provides master clock, and modulation of Phono is provided by a second CV out from touchOSC."
