Moog Sonic Six Analog Synthesizer (SN 1364) Vintage 1973 Keyboard Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"- Most functions of the synthesizer work, but it needs servicing and calibration to the specifications in the included service manual.

- The 4 octave keyboard has failed completely and does not work, it triggers the loudness contour (envelope generator), but does not track any pitch regardless of what key is pressed.

(I have read that this is a common problem, and that the keyboard bus bar contacts have failed and or a failure of a dual FET, N channel J-FET, NF510 )

- It doesn't have the original knobs, I have installed suitable replacements. Moog knobs are available from Moog Music USA.

The Sonic Six features
2 VCOs (Osc A / Osc B) each with saw, triangle and pulse waveforms (with manually adjustable pulse width)
1 VCF
1 VCA
1 ENV
2 LFOs each with four waveforms (sawtooth, ramp, triangle and square)
2 Mixers
Pink & white noise sources
Ring modulator for internal and external signals
Portamento,
Horizontally mounted pitch-bender wheel
EXT audio-in, CV-in for OSC, VCF and VCA
4-octave keyboard, mono - or duophonic
Keyboard tracking from 0% to 100%, allowing for micro-tonal steps
S-trigger multi-pin Cinch-Jones connection for Gate and CV control or a MIDI to CV converter
Built-in speaker
Portable eye catching synthesizer design in a suitcase
The Sonic Six has the classic Moog diode ladder filter.

Few units were made, so it has high collectability value.

The Moog Sonic Six is a very special, unique instrument, it is an analog monster, capable of many spectacular, weird sounds and often out of this world, self-generating rhythms and soundscapes, (even without the keyboard working!)

Included is:

- printed copy of the service manual
- printed copy of operations manual
- 12 x 18 inch photocopy enlargements of the 10 schematic diagrams from the service manual
- a CD ROM of the service manual
- the original grey power cable"

Moog Prodigy Vintage Synthesizer SN 9358 with Original Warrantee Card

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

via the seller: "I am the original owner and this unit is in excellent condition. It has never required servicing and is completely unmodified. I purchased this Moog Prodigy in 1980 from Naperville Music in the Chicago suburbs. The original Owner’s Manual, Technical Service Information manual and warranty card shown are included. I never noticed until just now but I think the music store guy wrote down the serial number as 9358 on the warranty card but the sticker on the back looks like 3358 to me (I doubt they sold anywhere close to 10,000 of these!). I have owned probably a dozen keyboards/organs/synthesizers over the years but nothing I have ever touched creates the unbelievably wide range of sounds that this little guy does. I am with some reluctance letting this friend of 34 years go to a better home.

I remember being told that the circuitry of this synthesizer was the same as the Taurus pedals used by Geddy Lee of Rush. While I cannot confirm this, I will say that I have generated to my satisfaction all the sounds on Rush albums from this unit..."

BASS PEDALS Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

Anyone know the brand of this one?

" This set of Pedals is really fun and unique! Customized and moded in a way that could open up a wide range of possibilities for the right musician. A list of the generous assortment of features includes:
Onboard Stereo Speakers (including a volume control with decent room volume for “unplugged” type practicing. For example: Would stand up to the volume of acoustic guitars strumming loudly, with singing).
Separate Left and Right 1/4” Line Outputs
Headphone Jack (1/8”)
Sustain Jack (for hooking up a Sustain Pedal). Note: This jack can also be routed as a start/stop for the Accompaniment Section*
Midi In and Out Jacks (selectable, Channels 1-16)
128 General Midi Onboard Sounds

Tone Groups:(8 tones in each)
• Pianos
• Chromatic Percussion
• Organs
• Guitars
• Bass
• Strings/Orchestra
• Ensemble
• Brass
• Reeds
• Pipe
• Synth-Lead
• Synth-Pad
• Synth-SFX
• Ethnic
• Perc
• SFX
10 Onboard Effects
3 Reverbs
Chorus
Tremolo
Phase Shifter
Organ SP
Enhancer
Flanger
EQ Loudness
Layer / Split Function (32 voices, 16 part multitimbral)
Internal Transpose (up or down 6 steps)...
… and in addition ... an “external” 2 Octave Jump Switch (flip the switch and it takes the range of the Pedals up two octaves, or back down two octaves if you switch it back).
Tuning (for fine tuning)
*Accompaniment and Rhythm Sections:
These sections can output on *separate midi channels*, so you can even run the drums and backing tracks to high quality outboard samplers etc..
Also, if you hit a note while the accompaniment is set to play a chord... you can switch the mode button while it's playing and then you can use any of the sounds to solo over the accompaniment. And the accompaniment works such that if you hit one note, and it's a Major chord. Hit two notes and it's Minor. Hit three, it's a 7th. Hit four, it's a Minor 7th. There is a separate volume adjustment for the accompaniment section to boot. And if that wasn't enough,... whatever you are playing over the accompaniment on the Pedals is also going out of the midi output. Note: I have noticed that the midi output sends volume information that is kind of on the low side,.. so if you use a midi sound source, you will want to turn it up a bit (or switch off velocity sensitivity). This only applies to what you play on the Pedals themselves (not the Rhythm and Accompaniment sections - they output on separate midi channels, and at full volume).
Onboard Drum Rhythms (128 patterns with full Tempo Control)
Song Memory - 1 Song, real-time recording, up to 1,300 notes.
4 Set Up Memories - you can memorize a few of your special setups, and recall them later (things like layers, effect choice etc).
128 Pedal Playable Backing Track Phrases (various styles - these sound real nice).
This is a very solid piece of equipment with a black speaker type carpet covering and a carry handle on the side. A couple of additional details: You may see one speaker to the left on top... the other is mounted inside the pedal case on the right side. That is why you see a slot in the carpeted border near the sound source on the right side– to let the sound through.
These pedals are not made to be velocity sensitive. I personally do not find that useful when it comes to Pedals. A modification is possible to bring that function about, but it would add about $100 to the price. There are a few usable bass sounds in the module... one of which is a fairly decent sounding upright bass patch. These can be layered as well, so there are a lot of possibilities.
Another cool thing worth mentioning is that the pedal shafts themselves are the same type and shape as those used in the infamous Moog Taurus Pedals. They have a nice classic look to them."

MAM Warp 9 Wasp VCF filter effect rack with MIDI

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"From Music and More (MAM) in Germany comes the highly sought Warp9 Wasp Filter rack unit! These units are incredibly rare and have been praised for their unique sonic character.

The filter is based on that of the classic EDP Wasp from 1978, utilizing a 12dB/oct (2-pole) resonant filter with switchable lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and notch modes. There is a built-in ADSR envelope with Delay and an LFO with 9 waveforms for modulating the filter's effect. The LFO can also be MIDI clock synced for tempo matched modulation of the filter's cutoff, resonance, etc.

Other common analog filter effects such as Distortion, Velocity and Key tracking are also on-board. The LFO and VCA alone can lead to some creative modulated filter effects! The Warp 9 has full MIDI implementation which can send/receive all of its parameters. Every single knob and function has its own Continuous Controller assigned and it's also possible to send information with note pitch and velocity.

There is a mono audio in/out, MIDI in/out/thru, power jack, and CV trigger input on the unit. You can use an external MIDI controller to program the unit which makes it a breeze to use.

This unit is in excellent working condition and sounds FANTASTIC. It's been a difficult decision to part with this filter, I've never seen one come up on eBay before.

Comes with US power supply and shipped with the utmost care.

You can hear some demos of the unit on MAM's website.

Mode Machines Sid Synthesizer Sequencer Drum Machine with Gig Bag

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Excellent condition. Very powerful synthesizer and drum machine. Rare and sadly discontinued.
The power is with the editor and midi synced patches with sequence like modulation routings! I have used it with an original SID MOS chip and enjoyed the quieter emulation of the swinsid. So if you wish, you can install a 6851 chip and move a jumper and have a SID only version.
Sequencer is a 2 track sequencer with track 1 reserved for bass or lead synth sounds and track 2 for a drum pattern drum machine.
There is also a poly mode which lets you play the Sid as if it were a 3 voice polysynth.
Note: there is a bit of bright noise at volume setting zero and and loudest setting. But none in between. (With swinsid or with sid chip)
It has the latest eprom firmware V2.3b3 from mode machines installed.
SID comes with ac adapter, manual and cd with latest editor.

midimux for iOS - Direct MIDI for Your Mac & iOS Device

iTunes: midimux - AppBC

"midimux talks MIDI to your Mac - using the standard usb to lightning or 30 pin cable.

Finally.

With midimux, you are no longer forced to rely on wifi-packets or external hardware to communicate MIDI data between a Mac and an iOS Device.

It seamlessly integrates your iPad/iPhone into your studio. worry-free, reliable and at an ultra low-latency.

And it works with all apps that speak MIDI.

midimux lets you..

- control iOS apps with hardware controllers that are connected to your Mac.
- sequence and play iOS apps using a DAW running on your Mac.
- control Mac applications or hardware connected to it, using Lemur, TouchOSC or any other app that uses MIDI.
- use iOS apps to play and sequence hardware instruments that are connected to your Mac.
- create virtual MIDI ports on the iPad/iPhone that can be mirrored to the Mac or other iDevices.
- connect more than one iOS device to the Mac - and send MIDI data between them.

all this wired - via the simple usb to lightning/30 pin cable.

In short: midimux creates virtual copies of MIDI devices connected to the other si.

In long: If you have a MIDI device connected to your Mac, midimux will create a copy of it on the iDevice - and thus allowing other apps to talk to it directly. Any byte of MIDI received by the MIDI device on the Mac will be piped to and received on the virtual copy of that device on the iOS device - and is then usable by its apps.
Data sent out by apps to the virtual copy on the iOS device will be piped back via usb, and then sent to the real device on the Mac.

The same is true the other way around. If an app creates a virtual MIDI port (e.G. Animoog), midimux will create a copy of that port on the Mac, naming it 'Animoog @ iPad'.

If an app does not create a virtual MIDI port, midimux always gives the possibility to create virtual ports manually. these can then be used by any apps on any of the iOS devices to pipe data to the Mac. or other iDevices. or both. and back. at the same time ;)

Features:
- Creates Mirrors of all MIDI devices that are connected to the computer on the connected iOS devices.
- Creates Mirrors of all MIDI devices that are connected to the iOS devices on the Mac.
- Lets you create custom virtual Ports that can be used by both sides of the connection to communicate.
- does it all via a wired usb connection - using the standard charge & sync cable.
- works on all iDevices from iOS 5.

*** midimux currently only works with Mac ***

To work, a lightweight server app has to be installed on the Mac.
Download it from here: http://www.midimux.com -
Or find it in this apps documents folder via iTunes file sharing."

Glenn playing PIANATRON on the Pi

Published on Feb 28, 2015 Pi Synth

"We had dozens of hideous technical issues last night, mainly around trying to convince those awful $5 MIDI / USB adapters to do the right thing. Plus the odd audio crackle due to the ridiculous amounts of audio interconnect plumbing down on the ground.

Eventually we gave up on the MIDI side and Glenn was forced to play my plastic, unweighted, cheap and cheerful Miditech 37, a mere 3 octaves, balanced on a stool at a difficult height, rather than his lovely weighted 61-key (or is it 88?) Nord on an optimal stand, with a CME XKey precariously perched atop an amp off to one side. Despite all those handicaps he did great.

Some 'Caitlin ooh' plus piano, some brassy stringy mix via the 2 keys on an old Korgis number (must look it up ... ) and a God Speed the Plough on piano layered with strings.

Nice."
