Sequential Switch Fun!

Published on Jun 23, 2015 littlem4tt

"Here is a demo where I send the gates from the sequencer through the ken stone sequential switch to the vca's of 4 independent synth patches. I used the Yusynth Clock divider to change the speed of the sequential switch.
The pitch cv from the sequencer passes through the Penrose quantizer before being distributed by an RNA REPLICATOR."

"This is a one owner (me) unit. It has been used sparingly in a smoke free studio and meticulously kept for.

It comes with the original power supply and manuals.

It has never been used with batteries (see photo)

It runs perfectly and has been tested as of June 22, 2015"

Note the serial number is the same as the one listed here by a different seller. According to this post regarding two different TB-303s with the same SNs, they are actually batch numbers, which seems odd. How do you identify an individual unit?

MQ1 custom synthesizer for MENG QI

Published on Jun 23, 2015 noystoise

more info at www.noystoise.com

The following is just a small portion of the full post on noystoise and a couple of pics to give you an idea of what went into this custom synth for Meng Qi, know for his own designs, including modifications of Ciat-Lonbarde creations.  Be sure to see the full post for full specs, build details and more pics.

via noystoise:

"After some back and forth, we came up with a general formula for the synth-to-be. it would be comprised of two sequencers with capacitive-touch sensors, two voices with analog filters, frequency modulation, reverb, a few modular inputs and outputs, and a Meng Qi logo. knowing that this would likely turn in to a pretty large and time consuming project, i quickly got to work designing synth. the project did end up taking almost two months to design and build, but actually, it could have taken much longer and i am actually kind of impressed with how quickly this one came together, considering the complexity of the build...

The signal path of this synth is pretty straight forward, but extremely fun to play. basically the circuit starts out with two square wave voltage-controlled oscillators. the oscillators have a pretty wide range, from high to low. I probably should have measured.. the oscillators' pitch is controlled by its own respective 8-step sequencer. each step can be manually tuned with a pretty decent amount of stability, considering the range. the sequencers are driven by a single clock signal, or they can be triggered individually by an external gate input via the respective input jack. each clock input signal, whether internal or external, is sent through a frequency multiplier, and then a divider, before being sent to the sequencer clock input. the multiplier has four settings; X1, X3, X4, and X5. the frequency multiplication is achieved through the use of a CD4046 phase-locked-loop circuit. at lower frequencies, the PLL takes longer to latch on to the multiple, but eventually it ramps up or down until it is in sync. it is actually kind of a neat affect because the sequencer will sound kind of glitch for a while, and then gradually falls into sync, and then totally syncs up. this made it tricky for the external input though, because the PLL is looking for regular intervals, so if you were manually triggering the sequencer or you had a pattern sequencer running to the input, the multiple would be all kinds of crazy.."

M-Audio Venom Synthesizer Factory Demo Song

"Factory demo song from the M-Audio Venom recorded direct with no additional effects.

In addition to being a standalone virtual analog synth, the Venom also has an external audio interface and can be used as a MIDI controller.

The demo song for this synthesizer does not give a very good indication of the range of its audio capabilities. It sounds better and can do more than you hear in this song."

Crumar Stratus Vintage Analogue Synthesiser

"This synthesiser is a rarity. There can only be a handful left. It has a classic CEM chip sound from the old analogue synths of the eighties. It is 6 note polyphonic with an adorable multi trigger oscillator glide as well as the usual analogue polysynth features. It also has an octave modulation facility which I have not seen any place else. It has a built in organ feature with separate outs for it and the polysynth section. As well as other sockets such as release etc... It is just out the the workshop where it had a service and all its keys were balanced. It is sounding huge!"

Super Rare PPG EVU with MIDI, latest 8.3 OS For Sale

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Ever wanted a PPG in a box?

Now is your chance and it may be your one and only chance!

The EVU is basically a PPG 2.2 with the 2.3 voice boards in a rack format. You have all of that glorious PPG sound, lose the bulk and mushy keyboard, and gain pan and level controls for all 8 voices.

This EVU has been well cared for, has the Virtual Music 8.3 OS upgrade, which gives it a much more responsive MIDI capability along with a host of additional features. If you're not familiar with the OS update, check out a summary here.

The EVU has a switch for 115/230 so it can be used easily in most countries by simply flipping the switch. A compact rack format with all the controls on the front gives you a lot of creative control. You can use the stereo outs, individual voice outs, or a mix and pan the voices around the stereo field as needed.

These units in any condition are rare, and to find one with MIDI and the updated OS is ultra rare. Don't sleep on this opportunity."

Yamaha Classic CS80

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The Yamaha CS80 synthesizer hardly needs introduction.
If you're viewing this listing you'll already know why it's such a beautiful instrument; arguably the pinnacle of analogue polysynth design, which has never been bettered by any manufacturer in the last 40 years.

Its polyphonic aftertouch, combined with its easy user-interface makes it something musically unique to this day.

Anyone buying a CS80 knows its reputation. It's a serious investment and it's also increasing in value as the years roll by. I am pricing this to reflect the considerable work and expense I've put into this particular instrument to make it one of the best CS80s around. Everyone has a price where letting something go makes sense. I love this instrument and have decided I simply wouldn't part with my CS80 for less, so am avoiding the 'Make Offer' option. Here are the reasons:

1. My one was serviced by Dusty Miller (Yamaha, Vangelis' technician) in the 90s and he put in the last, most stable VCO chips into every voice card, so it is - for a CS80 analogue polysynth - pretty stable.

2. It has extra modulation controls by the ribbon controller to add even more timbral variation to the sound if desired. (I didn't add these by the way: I bought it in 1995 with them already fitted.)

3. I have just had it serviced at great length by Andy a.k.a. Synth Prof in Suffolk UK who knows the CS80 very well, has checked it over and calibrated the key touch and also fixed the ring modulator circuit. He also replaced the ribbon controller spring with a brand new one hand-wound to minute tolerance, and generally given the instrument a full service.

4. Whilst it was at his workshop I also had it fitted with a Kenton MIDI kit which is seriously cool.

So, I've done all the TLC: it is good to go and do serious future studio work.

If you're looking for a mint CS80 in extremely good condition for its age, with its original chrome legs and case, then in all modesty this is probably one of the nicest examples that is going to be around anywhere."

Doepfer A-180-3 Dual Buffered Multiple Announced

via PatchPierre.Net

"Following the many requests in the Doepfer Yahoo-group, Doepfer announced today that an A-180-3 Dual Buffered Multiple will soon be released.

Module A-180-3 is a dual buffered 1-in-3 multiple.
The signal applied to the input socker appears as a buffered signal at the three output sockets.
Each output has it's own buffer, i.e. the three output sockets are not simply connected to each other. The lower output of the upper unit is normalled to the input of the lower unit.
That way the module works as a single 1-in-6 buffered multiple provided that no signal is applied to the input of the lower unit.

Application: copying/buffering of control and audio signals.

Update by Dieter: "the prototype pcb of the dual buffered multiple (A-180-3) arrived and has been tested. As expected no problems occured. The
module will be released about September 2015. The price will be the same as the A-138u because it very similar (i.e. Euro 50)"

"Video demonstration of the very rare Anatek Wind Machine. This cool box converts the control voltages from a Yamaha BC1 or BC2 directly into MIDI. Otherwise, you need a compatible Yamaha product, such as a Breath Controller input keyboard, or the VL1m to use the Breath Controller. The Beethoven music played at the beginning was made with Synful, but I did not create this version, I do not know who did the introductory music."
