Another video featuring the upcoming Frobe synth modular.

"This is an art film.
Actually it's a soundtrack for an art film.
Or perhaps even an art film about the soundtrack for an art film.

Either way, it's a piece entitled 'Nom Personus'
which is Latin for
'I solder wires; thus they spake to me.'
Don't bother Googling it.

Enjoy!
Peace out"

"The module has been used in my smoke free studio, and shows some minor cosmetic wear(see pics). The SEM has been recently serviced by a qualified synthesizer technician and is fully functional. For such a small box, the sound is enourmous, and absolutely unparalleled in modern synthesizers. Included in the listing is the Oberheim CPS-1 SEM module as pictured..."

Synthor Preview: Percussa's digital modular synthesizer for the AudioCubes

via the Percussa news letter:

"Hi everyone, it’s Bert here from Percussa AudioCubes :-)

We’ve been working hard on Synthor, the digital modular synthesizer for the AudioCubes, and I thought I’d send you an update :-)

As you know, the AudioCubes started as an advanced object based MIDI controller for professional artists, such as live performers, sound designers, composers, teachers, …

With Synthor we are taking AudioCubes to the next level. We’re adding audio input and output to our MIDIBridge software, and building a synthesizer into the software, which is called Synthor.

Synthor allows you to assign sound processors and generators to the AudioCubes, and lets you patch them together using the AudioCubes. You do this by placing the AudioCubes next to each other. The power of patching in Synthor comes from its ability to make multiple patch connections as you build a network of cubes. In a normal modular synthesizer, you make one connection at a time. With Synthor, you can make multiple connections by placing cubes together. Synthor takes modular synthesizer patching to the next level!

Synthor also gives you real time high speed parameter control: when you move cubes further or closer to each other, the software will control and scale synthesizer parameters such as modulation depth. Imagine two oscillator cubes, placed together. One oscillator modulates the other one, in amplitude, or frequency, as soon as the cube detect each other. As you move the cubes closer or further away, the distance between the cubes will change the modulation depth!

So in summary, with Synthor, you can patch multiple cables, and change modulation depth for these multiple connections, all at the same time, using only two hands :-) Synthor pushes the concept of a modular synthesizer to the next level.

Last but not least, you can save and load module assignments to/from preset files. Let’s say you have 8 cubes. You could have a group of oscillator and step sequencer cubes in one setup, but if you load a different settings file, which you might have saved at another time, you can recall a totally different setup, for example consisting of a group of filters and noise generators! This way you can play a live set with a modular synthesizer, and recall a totally different setup for every song. You can even switch presets using program changes (a feature that has been in MIDIBridge for several versions, by the way).

We’ve already got a wavetable oscillator, waveshaper, state-variable filter, noise generators, step sequencer, envelope generator, DC level generator and LFOs built into Synthor."

See the first video on the Percussa site here.  Below are two additional videos from Percussa's YouTube channel.

Abstract Data - ADE-32 Octocontroller - First Patch

Published on Aug 11, 2015 DivKidMusic

http://www.abstractdata.biz/

"This was the first patch I put together with the new Octocontroller from Abstract Data. It's a massively useful and fun module. 8 outputs offering pulses, gates, LFOs, sample and hold gates (random in time rhythms which you can lock to tempo), sample and hold CV (your usual random CV), arpeggios (plenty of useful musical patterns) and more. It's quick to use and it made putting this patch together controlling my full system really easy.

In this patch I have CV controlling FX and timbre modulation over percussion parts, basic drum trigger, arpeggios for the bass with sample and hold modulation for the filter shaping the bass. From there I was just playing around with mixers bringing sounds in and out while the ADE-32 did it's thing. If you watch the outputs LEDs on the Octocontroller you can figure out which output is doing what.

Abstract Data - ADE-32 Octocontroller - Arpeggios

"My second patch playing around with the ADE-32 Octocontroller from Abstract Data. Check out the first patch here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyAJV... [posted here] - which is running a full techno style patch with drums, bass, random modulation, LFOs etc. In this second patch I was just playing around with a few oscillators and layering up arpeggios from the ADE-32 running at different speeds. It's a much more simple and slow moving drone style piece but shows a simpler way of using the Octocontroller for basic slow moving parts.

TR-909 Deals of a Lifetime

It turns out the TR-909 used in the factory preset demo post was picked up for quite the steal. See the update in the post for the story, and be sure to check out the link to my story as well. I once picked up a Sequential Circuits Pro-One for $130 at a Guitar Center because it had stuck note and their techs couldn't figure out how to fix it. I took it home, opened it up, bent the j-wire straight and the problem was solved. :)

Have you had any crazy synth deals?

"Note that the OSCar originally has internally soldered rechargeable NiCad batteries to retain patch data but these ALWAYS suffer with lost data and leaking batteries causing circuit damage when left switched off for any significant length of time. Note here the external box (at the end) housing batteries that may be readily changed by the user without causing the loss of patch data."

Oxford Synth Company OSCar with Roland TR808 - unedited improvised noodling

Published on Aug 11, 2015 -CALC-

"Here is a completely unprepared improv, the first time I played on the OSCar synth. This was just played from the keyboard but I also had some fun advancing the OSCar's built-in sequencer with a trigger from the 808 afterwards too.
Its a bit long and some of it's crap... though you gotta remember this was my first time with both devices! That said the beginning and the end sound alright :o)
The OSCar itself is one of the finest instruments I've played on! it's filter is really very special indeed."
