The Confines - original instrumental electro-prog lounge-shred - Parallax

Published on Nov 11, 2015 hamsterdunce

"Here's an old unreleased Parallax song played on a Korg SV-1 RV. The sequence is naturally from a floppy-disk-fueled Korg O1/W from 1990-something, so the drums are primitive, to say the least. The lobsters are just there to keep us company.

Parallax CDs, artifacts of a synthesizer Utopia that is both fun and treacherous to visit, are available at umop.com/parallax.htm"

"It is the much rarer version with the CV control inputs which is huge as far as making it a lot more controllable with CV. It is in very good condition with just a bit of wear on the wood paneling but nothing major. It also has been serviced and calibrated by Control Voltage in Portland OR so it runs like a charm, stays in tune and sounds AMAZING!"

"The Pro 2 is Dave Smith’s flagship mono synth, and as Dave himself puts it, his 'most powerful mono synth ever.' The Pro 2 shares the same exceptional ergonomics and playability as its 12-voice sibling, the Prophet 12, but carves out distinctly different sonic territory with an all-new dual analog filter architecture, a monster step sequencer, superwaves, digital bucket-brigade delay, and a lot more. Nothing else sounds like it and nothing else performs like it. It raises the bar for monosynths and redefines the word 'fat.'"

MUTABLE INSTRUMENTS WARPS Vocoder Mode Testing

Published on Nov 11, 2015 SYNTH GURU

"Overview

Twists and warps two signals into one.

With a powerful digital core, Warps provides a collection of 6 modulation methods that can be continuously blended into one another: crossfading, cross-wavefolding, diode ring-modulation, balanced modulation (multiplication), XOR modulation, and waveform comparison/doubling. Each of these algorithms has a voltage-controlled timbre parameter, providing a variable level of tone coloration - from slight and sweet to harsh.

In addition, Warps provides a 20-band vocoder, with control over the envelope followers' decay time and the "warping" of the formants.

Before being processed, the two input audio signals are gain-controlled - with a linear and clean curve degenerating into analog-like saturation at the far end of the CV input range.

Warps can replace its first channel (carrier signal) by an internal oscillator, with sine, triangle, sawtooth, vocal buzz or noise waveforms.

Features

Continuous morphing between 7 cross-modulation algorithms: crossfade, cross-folding, digital model of analog diode ring-modulation, digital ring-modulation, bitwise XOR modulation, octaver/comparator, 20-band vocoder.
Control of timbre richness/brightness.
Each audio input has a built-in digital VCA with emulation of analog soft-clipping.
Audio input 1 can be replaced by an internal digital oscillator with through-zero FM. Available waveforms: sine, triangle, sawtooth, pulse, filtered noise.
Controls

Modulation algorithm morphing.
Timbre richness.
Input gain/distortion for audio inputs 1 and 2.

"The new digital STRONG-ZERO Voltage Controlled Oscillator Core expands the frequency modulation possibilities for any Furthrrrr Generator to an entirely new level.

I'm your Furthrrrr!
not this shit again

• Instant thru-zero linear FM for your Furthrrrr Generator

• 16-pin DIP IC chip – VCO сore replacement that works with any Furthrrrr Generator

• Expands Furthrrrr Generators FM capabilities for obtaining new timbres – deeper, metallic timbres, entirely new sphere of sounds from light whistles to weird noises.

• Band-limited 12 bit resolution 80 kHz samplerate triangle and square waves generation. The waveshaper and folder remains analog.

• Together with Terminal, the Furthrrrr creates a powerful 2-operator modular FM-synth.

• 16 bit pitch CV and linear FM acquisition for proper microtuning and modulation operations.

• Hard and soft sync without aliasing as may be expected from stock Furthrrrr oscillators

• Hits the stores this fall in love."

"The PROTEAN Motion Texture Source is a compact device that incorporates three independent sound generators for the production of a wide variety of sonic environments with a ever changing expressive vitality.

All sound parameters can be modified through direct manipulation of the knobs allowing a direct, fast and intuitive performance.

The sound generators have complementary timbral characteristic covering all the frequency spectrum and may also be modulated by the two low frequency oscillators implemented in the circuit, generating hypnotic sounds which evolve over time.

Protean has three independent outputs, each with its own output level to allow further manipulation using external effects and may also be used in mono mode when in the needs of a reduced setup."

Audulus Breakthrough - The Interlacer & The Audonome Grid Sequencer From Bimini Road

Bimini Road - Audulus Patch - The Interlacer (Preview)

Published on Nov 10, 2015 Bimini Road

http://audulus.com/

Music: 'Greenish Blue' by Jody Golick - made entirely in Audulus"

Some additional info in via Mark Boyd of Bimini Road:

"This is the interlacer I built for Audulus - it will allow you to stitch tens of thousands of control signals into one monophonic signal, and then unpack them elsewhere in any number of sub-patches. You can control multiple fields of lights, function selections with knobs, and midi key input, all through the same monophonic connection. The result is a very low overhead and a vast simplification of signal flow.

This needed to be developed for a project I'm working on called the Audonome, which will be a grid sequencer with user-programmable functions. You can think of it as a developing platform - a blank canvas. It will be able to parse a momentary press, a double press, a held press - all to activate different functions. It will have layers like a Tenori-On does as well. (Pictures of the Audonome with another patch called the binary gear below).

Audulus 3.0 is really going to take off as far as what people realize is possible in Audulus. It's not just a modular synthesizer program - it's an environment for invention and exploration. It strikes a beautiful balance between programming and hardware electronics design."

You can find more of Mark's creations for Audulus here.

Paul Hartnoll, Orbital on the ARP ODYSSEY

Published on Nov 11, 2015 ARP

"Paul Hartnoll was one half of electronic dance act Orbital who had huge success both critically and commercially.
Orbital owned the 90’s dance scene but it was their headline appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on 25 June 1994 that brought them most attention. Q magazine classed it as one of the top 50 gigs of all time, and in 2002 included Orbital in their list of "50 Bands to See Before You Die". In this video we visit Paul at his Brighton studio where he is busy working on some solo projects with the ARP ODYSSEY."
