Ensoniq EPS SN EPS-17571-F with EPS Signature Series Manual by Nile Rodgers
via this auction
Thought it was kind of interesting that Nile's picture is on the cover of the manual rather than the EPS. For those not familiar with Nile, via Wikipedia:
"Nile Gregory Rodgers (born September 19, 1952) is an American record producer, songwriter, musician, composer, arranger and guitarist. He is the lead guitarist and co-founding member with Bernard Edwards of the band Chic, which has been active since 1976 and was one of the most successful groups of the disco era."
And via the auction description:
• 2x memory expander installed
• sold with 8x output Expander
• Boot disk and 9 instrument sample disks
• Ensoniq foot switch
'EPS means 'Ensoniq Performance Sampler'. The EPS is just that with clever features that make it not just a professional studio music production tool, but also a powerful live performance instrument. Its biggest feature is its ability to load new samples while playing the instrument. The EPS is somewhat multitimbral in that you can have 8 instruments on-line one at a time or stacked and switching between them is as easy as pushing one of the 8 instrument buttons. The 'Patch Select' buttons over the Mod-Wheel allow for on-the-fly patch switching from a spot where your hand is likely to be while performing!
Its unique 13-bit sampler is highly versatile with multiple sample rates to choose from (6.25 to 52kHz). Sample memory with 2x expander is 896 Kb. Some of the EPS's goodies include an 8 to 16 track sequencer with quantizing, digital filters that seem like analog and preset template envelope options.'"
