Cacophony- Moog Mother 32-Korg Minilogue & EMX1-Roland Juno 106 & JP-08-MXR Distortion +

Published on Feb 5, 2016 Earmonkey Music

"I was in the mood for making noise tonight. Minologue is running a sequence that controls itself and the Mother 32. Minilogue patch is heavily ring modulated for bell-like tones. Mother 32 is getting some additional LFO from a Werkstatt, and it's just doing its awesome "I'm a beast from space" thing. Juno 106 in Poly 2 mode with Portamento, and running through an MXR Distortion +. Roland JP-08 is doing some funky crap with lots of Random LFO wave modulation. EMX on drums, and of course the STELLAR Roland RE-301 that plays more like another instrument than just an FX unit. This is loud. And obnoxious. Just the way I hoped it would. be."

"If you're looking, I'm sure you know just how special this synth is. It has nearly all the functionality of the legendary & gigantic CS-80, which now go for $15-20k (if you can find one). Double track sounds on this manageably-sized CS-60 and you're basically there, sonically speaking. In any case, the CS-60 truly sounds phenomenal on it's own and is a secret go-to in the synth collections of many producers and artists. This is analog at it's best!"

The CS80 is essentially two CS-60s stacked with polyphonic aftertouch.

"Awesome analog TB-303 emulator!

It's a monophonic TB-style analog synthesizer tied to a step-based pattern and song based sequencer, designed for the techno, trance, acid, and electro-blip-beep-bop musicians. There are also on-board analog and DSP effects processing, and various interfacing options for controlling MIDI, CV/Gate, and Din Sync devices."

Vintage Korg PS-3200 For Sale

"Here we have something special! The famous Korg PS3200. Known for its super sounds and for being one of the first programmable synths in the 70-ties. It is full polyphonic and features 2 OSCs per voice (!). This is a nice synth. Bigger brother to the PS3100 (only 1 OSC per voice, no memory). Versatile machine with lots of routing possibilities and patchable too. Famous monster synth as used by great bands and artists! 'That' sound..! Good condition, some signs of age, original wood.

Included is the PS-3010 Polyphonic Keyboard (which has some nice features and tricks!), original Honda multi pin connection cable and new mains cable.

This synth was recently serviced and is ok. A lot of work has been done like all new caps and many logic IC's replaced. Everything works and it is ready to play...♫♫

Please have a look at the pictures and see for yourself. Please check my 100% positive, music/synth/studio related feedback. I'm a serious and professional seller AND packer."

"Transforming a pulse stream into a variety of rainfall sounds: 'Hurricane Under a Tarp' (starting at 0:02), 'Rain On a Tin Shack' (starting at 0:40), 'Carwash' (starting at 0:54), 'Gutter Dripping on a Metal Plate' (starting at 1:12), 'Rapidly Heating Pipes' (starting at 1:27) and finally 'Storm At Sea' (starting at 2:03).

The tone source in this patch is the Telharmonic's Noise output, fed into a QMMG VCA, opened by Maths Ch. 4 and sent through a band pass filter (QMMG Ch. 3 and 4 in high and low pass filter modes respectively). This is then passed into Clouds (in Clocked Delay mode) and from there to the Erbe-Verb, which does most of the heavy lifting.

The DPO (in LFO mode), Wogglebug, Pressure Points and Maths (Ch. 1) all provide modulation, and TEMPI supplies the timing information.

I particularly liked 'Gutter Dripping on a Metal Plate' (starting at 1:12), 'Rapidly Heating Pipes' (starting at 1:27).

Update: link fixed.

"Metal beat! The Roland CR-78, is it the best drum machine of all time? It is definitely a distinctive and revered instrument, notably providing the backing for countless electronic innovators. This one is very clean, with very good looking tolex for its age, only a little scratch on the logo on the panel, and a little oxidation on the jacks. This machine is fully functional and sounds tremendous. This classic rhythm box includes the Future Retro Swynx (with TRS to stereo TS cable), a Midi/Din Sync converter box which also adds time divisions, swing, and write switch capability for user programming."

"Analog Filter, VCF

width:6hp
current: 9mA, -9mA
depth: 1.5 inches

What does this do?

This is an analog filter based on the polivoks vcf. This particular design uses the programmable LM4250 IC op amp to do it's filtering. There are some additional circuits not found on the classic original. The brite and dark switch is one of them. It allows for some decimator sounding timbres. There is also a diode limiter to allow the user to explore very high resonance settings. This is selected by switch also.

Controls: Cutoff, Rez, Bi-polar FM modulation, and Audio Input level.

Jack inputs: (2) CV direct jacks, FM input, and Audio input.
Jack Ouputs: Low pass filter, band Pass filter.

Price: $150.00"

Moog Mother 32 Patch Tip

"Patch 'Gate out' into VCO LIN FM for the illusion of a 2nd Osc playing 1 octave and a tone higher. Useful for high and fast sequences.

EDIT: I just discovered it's almost ientical to the patch 'Octave Bounce Back' in the manual. However, if you patch into Mix1 rather than mix2, you can get a semitone higher."

Thought this one was interesting. I've never seen one before. A little bit of synthesizer accessory history. Curious if these were made specifically for synths or just as a SCSI compact flash drive in general.

"Used to pair with a sampler for compact flash card storage. I'm used this successfully with a Roland s760, Akai s1000 & s5000, and a Yamaha a3000 & a5000. Plenty to read up on the net about these.

240V - will include a SCSI cable, power cable and nine 512MB compact flash cards."

"This is the Rev 4 version, which is the one you want if you're looking for the classic 'Jupiter' sound as it shares the same chip set as the other Jupiter synths, whereas the Rev 5 has the same chip set as the later Roland JX series. Included in the listing is the Roland MKS-80 Super Jupiter Rev. 4, M-64C Memory Cartridge, and power cable."

via wikipedia: "In 1985 out came another revision of MKS-80, known as 'Rev 5', that had no ties with any previous Jupiter's hardware, as it used a new generation of both Roland VCO's, VCA's and filter. The Rev 5 filter was also used in JX-8P, JX-10 and MKS-70 synthesizers."

"Here's an awesome Akai AX80, in fully functional condition and sounds amazing. All key contacts were cleaned as well as the battery replaced within the past year. It's a pleasure to play with a great feeling keybed and offers many usable sounds. The worst part about it are the blemished end caps which look much worse in the pictures accented by the flash. These could be restored or covered by someone if they have the urge, I never really cared since it looks great in the studio and is a sonically amazing!"

Great condition. Very clean. Recent restoration. All original except for the keybushings that have been replaced during service. Early old osc minimoog model d with RA MOOG boards inside. September of 1972 production, 1xxx serial. Sounds fantastic! Cosmetically, this item is very nice for such an old synthesizer. The walnut case is in good shape. It's got some normal wear for an early minimoog model D but overall is in great shape. This minimoog has a vintage roadcase paired with it. The case is in good functional condition and has had the interior foam replaced. It show wear from use and has vintage stickers on the outside..."

Programming State Variable Filter Behavior on the Oberheim Matrix-12 and Xpander

Published on Feb 5, 2016 gstormelectro

"All video and audio content by G-Storm Electro c.2016
http://gstormelectronica.blogspot.com/
http://soundcloud.com/gstormelectro

This is NOT a step-by-step tutorial. This DOES show how I set up a couple of patches to get STATE VARIABLE filter behavior on FIXED filter synthesizers like the Oberheim Matrix-12 and Xpander. To be clear, I leave out all the programming steps where I save and rename the patches as you must.

This method works on most any programmable, multi-timbral, polysynth where different filter modes are configurable. The downside to this method is the overall polyphony will be cut in half. On the Xpander this means 3 voices. But hey, on the SEM it uses only one voice.

0:10 Intro, what is a State Variable Filter
0:55 How the State Variable filter works
1:22 My settings for two Single patches
1:58 My setings for the Multi patch
3:12 So you want to sweep the filter cutoff, too....don't you?

Some modern synthesizers allow you to do this within one patch, but they MUST have TWO configurable filters PER PATCH. Waldorf Blofeld, Novation Ultranova, Elektron Analog 4 and Analog Keys, Dave Smith Prophet-12, Access Virus and TI Snow, and more."

Korg DW8000 and Novation Zero SLMkII

Published on Feb 5, 2016 Sergio Brunetti

"The Korg DW-8000 is a powerful synth. It is hard to program as almost every synth of its era due to just a parameter assignable at once. To solve this problem, I have programmed almost all the parameters of the Korg DW-8000 in the Novation Zero SLMkII. In this way I have direct access to all the parameters and I can change the values of more than a parameter at once. I can create sounds and tones that I hardly could create using just the Korg control panel. The video shows the Novation displaying the names I have assigned to each parameter. In this way I can easily find the sliders, buttons, encoders and pots to be used for every single DW-8000 parameter. The tones are just an example to show how it works and not how it can sound. For details on the Korg DW-8000 parameter list you can see a manual on line. The hand written labels on the Novation are for using in Sibelius Notation Software and are not relative to the Korg synth."

Black Market Modular - Colour Palette

01:35 Tweet High Pass Filter
03:43 Woof Low Pass Filter

09:05 Controlling multiple cards with one CV
11:47 Installing ColourCV cards
12:32 Assigning CV inputs
13:03 ColourADPTR
14:31 DIY Prototype Boards

First off, I'm really into this module! I love the idea of a 3 VCAs with channel summing (mixing) and then have custom options to create whatever you want around that. Be it filtering, sound generation (self oscillating filters), FX, or CV processing.

In this video I go through the module, what it does, how it works and the two cards that Black Market Modular make. Both the Tweet high pass filter and Woof low pass filter. Videos will follow to show off other companies cards such as the three cards from WMD and the Fuzzolo card from ZVEX. The platform is all open source and you can buy prototype DIY boards, which encourages making up your own circuits for the module too.

NOTE - to show off the textured panel I added a spotlight above the module for the filming of the video. It doesn't actually have any sort of "glow". It often looks all black and then occasionally catches light and you can see the design.
