"The serial number is #282955. Starting at serial #282880 the JP-8 came standard with a DCB port, as does this unit. These newer JP-8's are also referred to as JP-8A's.
Beginning with serial number #171700, the 12-bit DAC was upgraded to a 14-bit DAC.
This increased the resolution of the controls. Lucky for you, this unit is the superior 14 bit version.
The soldered-in battery typically lasts ten years or more, ranking these boards among the lowest-maintenance of their generation.
The battery on this unit was replaced last year, when serviced."

Gorgon Hat by Atomic Shadow

Gorgon Hat from Atomic Shadow on Vimeo.

"This piece features the RCA tone burst generator, played live through effects pedals (including Strymon El Capistan). The EMW-200 is playing through a Lexicon Vortex unit. The modular synth is being controlled by the SynthCube 266 SOU and clocked with a Krisp 1 LFO. The other modules in the patch are the STG Soundlabs Sea Devils filtering a DotCom Q106, Analog Crafstman Gristlier filtering the SSL DDVCO. Both Oscillators are routed through the Krisp 1 Ring Mod. The modular patch is mixed through the STG mixer on it's way to the Yamaha AW-1600 recorder. PSP Audioware plugs used in the mixing stage included the Spring Box and their excellent new EMT 244/245 reverbs.

No Gorgons were harmed in the making of this picture."

"SoundBow is a drawing based music instrument with a clean and simple visual interface.

Create music by drawing curves over the screen. Your gesture will be remembered and played back continuously. Each time your ever-looping gesture hits a string, a sound is produced. Apart from drawing, you can experiment by moving the strings around freely to rescale your instrument. Record any sound through the microphone and start creating melodies, soundscapes with your own voice. If you wish, you can also export your composition as an audio file.

SoundBow is made with free and open source tools. The interface is built with OpenFrameworks, for accurate polyphonic sound sample playback, the sound engine is made with SodaLib, a free Data Sonification Library built on top of libPd (Pure Data)."

Prelude in C Major - Bach Played on MinorThirds MIDI Controller for iPad

Published on Feb 28, 2016 VinĆcius Mello

"I listened Gulda and Schiff a lot for inspiration. I wanted to play the notes evenly like them, but this is very difficult! So I put the filter to open gently and a small delay and voilĆ”!"

VinĆcius is the developer of the MinorThirds MIDI Controller, a small app for iPad that is an isomorphic keyboard based on the interval of minor third. In this video, he's playing Bach's Prelude, using the Thor synth to achive an analog like sound.

"MinorThirds is a MIDI Controller that uses a layout based on minor thirds. Most chords can be easily played with one finger on left hand and three fingers on right hand."

Rare Ruby Red Waldorf Q+ Synthesizer SN 2310150000255 with Wood Side Panels

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Where to start? Calling the Q+ a “VA” would e doing it a disservice; it’s more akin to a digital modular then just another VA.

100 voices, 16 part mutlitimbrality, 3 oscillators per voice, including wavetables taken from the PPG Wave and a noise generator, 3 LFOs, 16 analog filters, 2 digital filters per voice, 12/24dB Filters (Low pass, band pass, hi pass, notch, comb, ring mod and more), vocoding capability, 4 envelopes, arpreggiator and a sequencer per voice.

16 analog filters make a massive difference to the sound of the oscillator section. They are noticeably different than the digital filters (which are very good anyways, if you've never played with a Q you'd be surprised).

In addition to the 16 analog filters, the Q+ gives you 100 voices (the standard Q is 16 voices, or 32 voices with the rare expansion)

Add onto that an arpeggiators and a sequencer per voice.

And wait till you check out the Xphorm function that allows the morphing between two completely different patches, assignable to things like key velocity and the mod wheel.

The Waldorf Q+ is topped off with 8 effects processors (2 per sound that include Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Overdrive, AM, Delay, Reverb, etc.), oh, and add on a very nifty random function, plus drum mapping for dedicated percussion sounds and you have one of the most powerful synthesizers ever made.

From a physical perspective, there’s 58 knobs (all send/receive MIDI), lovely keyboard and pitch/mod wheels, 2 analog audio inputs, 6 outputs and 1 S/PDIF output (44.1kHz / 48kHz switchable), CV control, and of course Midi In/Out/Thru

The power supply is universal, so wil work anywhere in the world. with no need to worry about step up/down transformers."

MF-104M & Minimoog - video #3

Published on Feb 28, 2016 noddyspuncture

"Here the Minimoog is being sequenced by the Q960 and other CV and gate modules whilst also being processed by the MF-104M. 'Playing' the knobs and switches gives the variation, and you can almost make a 'piece' out of a sequence. I quite like cutting the echo for a while and then sticking back in...!"

Zaquencer Jam #1 (Feb 28 2016)

Published on Feb 28, 2016 stereofect

"The idea here was to make a Dark Ambient type drone track using the standalone sequencer program ZAQuencer.

ZAQuencer is sequencing a Blofeld and TX7 while I transpose the sequence with a Launchkey49 and play with the controls on the Bass StationII. LoopyHD (running some pre-made loops) is slaved to the ZAQ clock. I mix it all real-time on the BX8. I use an Alesis Wedge and TC Electronic Hall of Fame for FX. The whole setup is standalone. Single take, no overdubs.

Cheers!!"
