Roland JD-800 Digital Synthesizer (1991) - soundtrack sounds

"(c) 2016 vintage synthesizer demo by RetroSound

Roland JD-800 Digital Synthesizer from the year 1991

For me one of the best Digital Synthesizers ever. The sound is different to the later JV series.

Vangelis used this synth a lot on the album 'Conquest Of Paradise'

The demo video shows different sounds for filmscoring and for soundtracks. Some patches are self-programmed and some are from the JD library.

"This is a very rare Rev 2 version with the sought after SSM chips (serial number 800). It's in great shape and fully functional. Huge warm analog tone, maybe the most classic of all the polysynths, the Rev 2 is THE Prophet 5 to get as it has a warmer tone than the Rev 3 versions with the Curtis Chips..."

Seventh Wave of Electronic Music Festival comes to Birmingham

"In November of 2016 the inaugural ‘The Seventh Wave Festival of Electronic Music’ takes place across four days and across three venues in Birmingham.

The stellar ‘live’ line-up includes highly influential ambient industrialists :zoviet*france:, revered ‘Kraut-rock’ and electronica collective Gnod, Ex-Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flur (responsible for inventing the group's electric drums used throughout the 1970s), DJ Rusty Egan of Visage fame (put simply, with-out Rusty Egan there would be no Steve Strange) and Richard Barbieri (currently of Porcupine Tree but he cut his teeth as the highly respected synth player for new wave pioneers Japan in the 1980’s).

One of the high-lights of the festival will be an all-day conference with key note speeches from Wolfgang Flur (Ex-Kraftwerk), Andy McCluskey (of multi-million selling synth pop exponents OMD) and DJ Rusty Egan (whose Blitz Club started the New Romantic movement).

Tickets can be purchased for individual events from both theticketsellers and Skiddle from:

Live Korg Volca Jam 33 : Microkorg, Korg Volca & Monotron Delay

Published on Apr 13, 2016 Todd Smith

"Korg only jam !!! In this Korg only live jam I used the Korg Monotron Delay to grab live radio waves from a local Christian radio show and use them as "samples". I used the Korg Volca Beats with tempo set to 56 while playing with my favorite stutter setting ( 3 o'clock time while slightly bringing in depth for effect ). The Korg Volca Bass is set in 3 VCO mode ( M1 ) . 2 sequences are layered for the Bass while the 3rd VCO sequence is used for the high end pitch bend synth lead. The Korg Volca Keys is used for lead synth sequence and is in Unison mode. I played with filter / detune live. The Microkorg supplies the pad and is played live.
