"For sale is this vintage incredibly rare and absolutely fantastic sounding 1980s PPG Wave 2.2 digital/analog hybrid synth. This extremely rare synth, serial number 01322, was made in Germany by Palm Products GmbH and is regarded as being one of the finest synths to incorporate digital samples controlled by an analog interface. The Wave 2.2 is considerably more rare than its Wave 2.3 successor, and though they appear to be similar, are actually quite different. Synth enthusiasts and keyboard connoisseurs alike will both recognize just how rare this synth is, as very few of these units were manufactured. Recently serviced by the tech whom originally serviced and imported these in the ’80s, Ed Miller, this synth works perfectly and is studio ready!
This PPG Wave 2.2 incorporates digital samples of wavetables while utilizing analog VCA, as well as analog VCF sections. The Wave 2.2 also features; an oscillator capable of generating over 2,000 single-cycle 8-bit analog waveforms, a digital control panel with a more complex editor than previous versions, MIDI implementation, and an 8-track sequencer utilizing pitch automation, loudness, filter cutoff, waveforms and much more.

Originally inspected by PPG authorized service technician Ed Miller of syntheisizerrepair.com when first imported, this synth includes a complementary service and clean bill of health from Miller himself. Used by David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Stevie Wonder, and an ever-expanding list comprised of the best recording artists of all time, this is a magnificent instrument is worthy of the best studios, as well as, the ownership of even the most accomplished synth collectors."

"This particular example, serial number 100-4125, is in very excellent condition, is completely serviced and studio ready. The Pro One was Sequential's attempt at taking their legendary Prophet 5 poly-synth and packing it into a compact, inexpensive, monophonic analog synth. It has two VCOs, a great 4-pole lowpass filter, two ADSR envelopes, and a compact three-octave keyboard. Very excellent, this is perfect for any studio, collector or synth enthusiast."

Angular Distance Amplifier - Mutable Instruments Elements

Published on Apr 22, 2016 A Box In The Sea

"All sounds are made via the Mutable Instruments Elements and parallel processed through Twin MI Clouds, Mannequins Sisters, guitar pedals - Echo Degrader, Take 5, El Capistan, Big sky and Afterneath . The gates and all modulation are self generating. The Octatrack is sending clock to Tempi to control all modulation including the Tempi itself. I'm sampling into the Octatrack all throughout the piece and jumping back and forth between the modular and the OT to constantly mix in and out all parallel streams."

Knifonium Joystick Manipulations

Published on Apr 22, 2016 darkenergymedia

"stripped the knifonium down to two slightly detuned saw waves. manipulating filter cutoff with the y-axis of the joystick, and 12 semitones of pitchbend with the x-axis. very little resonance on the filter. output amp set to pentode, VCA boost disengaged.

there is NO POSTPROCESSING on the knifonium with the exception of mild limiting which was applied to the output of the track as a whole. other than that, no compression, EQ, or other effects have been used.

this is pure, unadulterated tube madness. utterly satisfying. other than the unfortunate wubby dubstep feel to the whole affair."

Synth in 60: Moog Mother-32s and a Sub Phatty

Published on Apr 21, 2016 Patrick OBrien

Unfortunately this one abruptly cuts off.

"Opened up the manual to deep dive into the Mother-32, but that analog spirit just took over the controls. Throwing the Moog Sub Phatty and two Moog Mother-32s together to come up with this patch, with background tracks from my modular synth.

The focus is how the two Mother-32s tempos are synced with each other. I'm also sending a clock to the modular synths (off camera) where I'm using Hexinverter drum modules, the Make Noise telHARMONIC, and Make Noise Pressure Points to carry the bass line.

The Moog Sub Phatty's unique driving sound creates melody halfway through, with pitch wheel modulation using a high LFO rate.

-------------------------------

I recorded audio and video with an iPhone 6+

This patch is 60 seconds long, which is why I named it "Synth in 60"

No computers were used in the performance of this piece. All synths recorded live in a single take."

SonicLAB: Korg Volca FM

Published on Apr 22, 2016 sonicstate

"The Volca FM is the latest addition to the Korg Volca family, this little guy gives you 3 voices of classic 6 operator FM sounds - with patch compatibility for the DX-7"

Update: at 15:14 Nick notes that the Volca FM does not respond to realtime editing via Dexed, a DX7 software emulator that transmits realtime parameter edits. I'm guessing this is not just a problem with Dexed but all external editors including those for the iPad. If this is indeed the case, this is unfortunate. I was looking forward to using the iPad to edit the Volca FM. Another question is whether you can chain two units for a six voice synth.  That would equate to a six voice DX7 for roughly $300 in a compact size with sequencer.  It is my understanding that you cannot chain them yet.  If anyone knows otherwise, please chime in.

"The moog six is in good condition with light signs of wear from normal use. The sonic six is a rather durable device. This one was well taken care and is in good working order. It was originally designed for educational and home use so it is light and portable and even has a built-in amplifier and speaker. This is kind of a rare bird and is seldom seen but in the right environment can be extremely useful and a much welcomed sonic edition to your sound. Comes with manual & power supply.

new nonlinear circuits squid axon

Published on Apr 22, 2016 cirtcele

"Just some examples of the signals from the Squid Axon when fed a tri-wave and clocks at various rates. Adjusting the feedback pots gives various chaotic bursts. More info - http://nonlinearcircuits.blogspot.com..."

"Just the module everybody has been waiting for! A squid brain cell simulator!

The Squid Axon is a circuit based on the Hodgkin-Huxley equation describing the chaotic behaviour observed in giant squid axons. The inspiration for the module came from a 2003 paper by T. Matsuzaki & M. Nakagawa, titled 'A Bipolar Logistic Chaos Neuron and Its Hardware Implementation'.

Basically it is a four stage analog shift register with two feedback paths, one nonlinear and one linear (I do try to walk the line). If you turn the feedback paths down to zero, you get a regular ASR. Turn up the feedback to get more complex and staggered patterns from the 4 CV outputs. It will happily run at audio rates as well."
