Knobcon 5 Synthrotek ASTRONOISE Eurorack or Console DIY workshop

Published on Aug 23, 2016 synthrotek

http://store.synthrotek.com/AstroNois...

"Knobcon 2016 bonus! The AstroNoise at KC can be built as a Eurorack module OR as a standalone circuit that you can wire into a case later. In the past it has just been a standalone circuit, but the lofi wizards of Synthrotek have modded the board to fit in a 10HP DIY Blank Panel. All kits will come with the parts needed for both the standalone circuit or Eurorack mod, no extra charge. The PCB will be cut ahead of time as needed for the mod, and the DIY Panel will be pre-drilled. The jacks provided will be 3.5mm.

The workshop will be taught by Scott Rise of Division 6 fame. Soldering irons, solder, and other necessary tools will be provided. You can check out the assembly instructions ahead of time here (the Eurorack mod is at the bottom of the page).

This circuit requires a medium-ish skill level. Have you soldered something successfully before? Then you're good to go.

Please purchase this workshop ahead of time so we know how many kits to bring!"

"For sale in this incredible example of a mid-1960s Teisco Teischord GS electric keyboard. It includes the pink wire sheet music stand, the original expression/volume pedal, the corresponding lid, and the original legs. This is a very rare incarnation of the famous Teisco combo organ line. Similar to both the C and G models, the GS is more deluxe, and features an additional 'accompaniment' section (gray keys) next to the bass keys. The original list price was somewhere near $700 in the mid-60's! Don't miss out on this absolutely incredible collector's keyboard in near mint condition."

Ruismaker FM for iOS Released

Published on Aug 15, 2016 Synth Anatomy

Update: Synth Anatomy video added above.

iTunes: Ruismaker FM - Bram Bos

"Following up on the success of Ruismaker, here's her crazy twin-sister, designed for people who want to design their own percussion sounds from scratch.

Ruismaker FM's flexible synthesis engine lets you create anything from snaredrums, kickdrums and spacy toms to weird and unconventional percussive sounds and effects.

Works conveniently inside your sequencer and Audio Unit Instrument hosts so you can focus on making electronic music without app switching and screen juggling like before.

*IMPORTANT* Audio Units are plug-ins that need a compatible host app to work. Ruismaker FM has been tested to work beautifully with Steinberg Cubasis, Apple Garageband, Modstep and AUM.

- Audio Unit Instrument (AUv3): making music on iOS doesn't get more convenient
- Use Ruismaker FM's flexible FM synth engine to create thousands of sounds
- Comes with loads of factory preset sounds as examples
- Does not use any samples; all sounds are synthesized in realtime, on the fly
- Light on the CPU, so you can run lots of instances simultaneously
- Has an extra compact 4" UI mode; especially for iPhone SE and iPhone 5S
- Fully automatable parameters (requires host support)
- Fully MIDI controllable using MIDI CC
- Download the advanced guide on ruismaker.com for more details about parameter automation, available instruments and MIDI implementation

iOS Audio Units are supported on iPads (iPad 4, iPad Mini 2 and up) and iPhones (iPhone 5S and up) with iOS 9 and higher."

Bob Moog Foundation Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary with New Moog Catalog Timeline & New R.A. Moog, Co. T-Shirt

via The Bob Moog Foundation

"We are thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of the Bob Moog Foundation! Over the life of the Foundation, we have educated thousands of students and trained hundreds of teachers through Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, preserved over 5,000 historic documents of all kinds through our work with the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, and inspired people of all ages through various exhibits and public interactive experiences.

Thanks to all of you who have continuously supported us along the way! We simply couldn't do it without you. Together we have made a significant impact in many, many lives.

Today we are celebrating by releasing a massive, historical timeline of Moog catalogs from Bob's earliest company, R.A. Moog, Co., founded in 1954, up through his introduction of Big Briar's Minimoog Voyager in 2001.

Check out the interactive timeline here.

The timeline is an testament of our ongoing commitment to both preserve and share the materials in our archives. We hope that you'll find the timeline a valuable resource to discover the history and evolution of Moog products and companies.

We would love to hear your feedback about the timeline. Please email us at info@moogfoundation.org with any comments."

"Bringing Back an Iconic Logo

As part of our 10 year celebration, we are offering a very special t-shirt with the original, iconic R.A. Moog logo, from Bob's very first company, R.A. Moog, Co., which he founded in his parent's basement in 1954.

Featuring waveforms emanating from a musical staff into a vacuum tube, the logo is indicative of Bob's early dedication to science, music, and technology. Under the logo is the original tag line, "Devoted to the Development and Manufacture of Electronic Instruments for Musicians."

You can order your R.A. Moog shirt here!

Proceeds from all items from our online benefit our education and archival projects. Show some BMF love and help us inspire the future at the same time.

Thank you again for your ongoing support of the Bob Moog Foundation! We are honored to be carrying on Bob's indelible legacy, and to be inspiring so many people. We simply couldn't do it without you!"

New Detroit Underground DU-SEQ Eurorack Module

DU-SEQ TEASER from detroit underground on Vimeo.

"Video by Anon at Darkplace Mfg. Datamosh via LVSTVCRV."

via Detroit Underground

"DU-SEQ is an analog pulsing sequencer with a highly intuitive interface. The 1V/octave pitch signal path is fully analog, and the gate signal is generated entirely from discrete 7400-series logic (no microcontroller) clocked directly from a built-in clock with tempo and gate width settings, or an external clock/gate signal.

Each of the up to eight steps has a two-octave pitch range and can be assigned to pulse or count up to eight times using one of six gating patterns -- including two external gate pattern inputs -- allowing for a huge diversity of musical possibilities.

Other features include CV control of step direction, CV selection of the next step, slew rate limiter assignable per step, and a half-clock button and CV input. Fuzz the direction input with noise to generate a glitch in the sequence on tempo."

New Octopus Eurorack Module From Twisted Electrons

Published on Aug 23, 2016 Twisted Electrons

via twisted-electrons.com/octopus

"SWITCH 8 POTS, 8 SIGNALS
photoOctopus is a dual 8 way multiplexer/switch allowing to sequence up to 8 signals or potentiometers .

Sequence pitch with pots, switch audio signals with the cv inputs, so many possibilities!

The horizontal axis sets the channel, the vertical axis stores 8 channel positions.

The fun begins when you start sequencing or modulating the channel selector either:

Manually by use of the two large potentiometers
by overriding the potentiometers with CV (0-5V DC)
by moving up and down the vertical axis via Triggers (5v DC pulse)
NOTE: The CV inputs are not limited to Control Voltages. You can use octopus to “switch” audio too, like multiple waveforms of an oscillator, or audio tracks of a song!"

Fizzy pics for a fizzy synth. Baha... I'm so funny I don't know why I refrain from commenting in mosts posts.

via the listing: "This is Serial # 11543 which was at the end of the production run which means it didn't need the voltage regulator changed out. I have used it with a RS 1300ma power adapter [included] and it has made it 16 years so far so it should be all good! :) If you decide to upgrade the regulator there are a few sites online walking you through it - pretty easy upgrade if you want the additional piece of mind."

I've heard both, that all Fizmo's need the fix including later models, and that later models were fixed. If anyone has definitive insight, feel free to share.

FM Synthesizer Programming Tips Tricks Video Yamaha TX81Z

Published on Aug 23, 2016 gstormelectro

"Audio and Video by G-Storm Electro c.2016

This demo shows many cool, EASY, and fun tips and tricks for programming FM Synthesizers. I'm using a Yamaha TX81Z but these tips will work on ANY digital FM synthesizer or FM plugin instrument. I cover setting up a Blank Patch as a starting point. Then I show how to make Organ, Bass, Digital Pads and Choir sounds. Be sure to stay for the end of the video where I summarize the 5 Most Important Things to Edit on an FM Synthesizer.

If you're just getting started in programming you may want to check out my primer video first at https://youtu.be/2HP0U6VB2bg

Also look into getting a Sysex controller or computer editor for editing sounds on your FM Synthesizer. This makes editing a lot faster. I'm using a Stereoping controller as shown in my other video at https://youtu.be/vvLUyA4A5kg"
