3TrinsRGB - ARP2500 - speed of life

Published on Sep 4, 2016 DJjondent

Audio is all ARP 2500.

"Initial trials of the 3TrinsRGB + 1c - It's a analog audio/video synth.
I just finished building this from a kit & I'm loving it so much.
You can find more info on the 3Trins here:
http://djjondent.blogspot.com.au/2016...
The video is so-so as it was recorded using a mobile phone. I'll use some higher resolution video capture devices in future recordings.

The original video is a recording of an ARP 2500."

"The Kawai K5000S Adititive Synthesizer has a rather unique keyboard. I have not seen this keybed on any other synth or keyboard, its very playable as the black notes are long and thinner then normal, and have a nice textured feeling to them. I know people that use these synths as nothing more then MIDI master keyboards as the feeling is so nice - however, the white keys do yellow with age - as you can see in the photos!"

Patch Notes #18 - Reaktor Blocks w/ DU-SEQ & Make Noise 0-Coast

Published on Sep 4, 2016 Voltage Control Lab

"Patch Notes #18 goes Techno, using user created modules in Reaktor Blocks to sequence and randomize drum triggers and notes through the Traktor Audio 10 to a Eurorack system.

Reaktor is running a couple of downloaded modules from the Reaktor User Library, including the Maschine Sequencer Block (an altered version of it, built to operate with the Traktor F1 controller) and the Turing Machine 1.0. These are both clocked by an internal clock module. The first 4 channels on the Maschine Sequencer are routed to a Gates & Trigs module, where the gates are converted to triggers, and then out to physical outputs 3-6 on the Audio 10.

The F1 acts as an 8 channel 16 step sequencer (only using 4 channels) with Euclidean Rhythm generating functions assigned to 3 of the knobs on one control page. The 4th knob is assigned to control the swing amount of the clock module. On the second page, the knobs are assigned to control the Turing Machine functions, so randomized sequences can be looped and lengthened.

The first channel is routed to the Scooper kick drum, the 4th to the Scooper hihat (as seen in our Roland Aira Modular Drum Machine video). The 3rd channel is routed to the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas for snare-ish business, and the 4th is clock the DU-SEQ sequencer, which is sending CV and Gate to the Make Noise 0-Coast.

The Turing Machine in Blocks is routed directly out into the pitch input of the MIDI Out module. The randomized sequence is converted to MIDI notes, and sent through Mutable Instruments Yarns and then out via CV and Gate to the Make Noise DPO, and the Intellijel Dual ADSR. The DPO Final output is routed to the Optomix, which is being opened and closed by the Dual ADSR.

The Ornament & Crime is in Quadraturia mode, generating 3 LFOs. Two of these are routed to the morph and fold functions on the BI, another routed to the Shape function on the DPO. The Korg SQ-1 is in random mode, altering the hihat decay length.

The DU-SEQ is playing a complex pattern with 2 steps assigned to external gate 1, rather than the clocked signal from Blocks. The clock out is routed to the Malekko Varigate 4. Channel 1 on the Varigate is routed to the external gate 1 on the DU-SEQ, with an 8 step sequence (acting like a clock) and randomized repeats for interesting gating on that channel. Another channel is clocking the 0-Coast tempo in, with a third Varigate channel triggering the slope section (which is modulating the multiply amount). The stepped random section is routed to the voltage math section, then split and on to contour decay and overtone amount.

Voxarray 61 - DIY modular synthesizer

Published on Sep 4, 2016 Love Hultén

"For more info: lovehulten.com"

"Voxarray 61 is a modular music environment, and a tribute to iconic synthesizers from the 70’s. It’s main body, crafted from ash, is divided into two segments. This clamshell construction rests on a weighty 4-legged stand handmade from steel. A ball handle applied to fold/open the lid doubles as pitch and modulation when detached and inserted next to the semi-weighted MIDI keyboard. The top lid stores an array of analog and digital audio modules, and like most module synthesizers, they all connect using a variety of patch cords, creating a matrix patching system. To use external devices, just patch them through the matrix. Add the custom-made dynamic microphone on top to complete the setup."

"Here is a video describing the design of the Dintree D102 Output Mixer. You can download schematics and learn more at: www.dintree.com

Note in the section describing the meter circuit I state that the output of the rectifier is positive... it's actually negative and gets inverted by the integrator, but the overall effect is the same."

The Human Sized Synthesizer [Giant KORG MS20 w/ iDS10 Style Controls]

Published on Sep 3, 2016 PsyKispup

via Red Bull Academy

"The Human Sized Synthesizer was developed by Daito Manabe and Rhizomatiks in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy and KORG. It is a social experiment, embodying the Academy ethos of encouraging creative collaboration. The below schematics help to explain how it was constructed. The Synthesizer is a large format workstation that allows for interaction: There is a step sequencer drum machine with four sound sets, and a keyboard with an arpeggiator and other functions, as well as an X-Y effects unit. The large format synthesizer controls are based on KORG’s MS10/20 classic synthesizers, with MPC-style touch-sensitive trigger pads."

Bode 735 Frequency Shifter & Electronic Specifications

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"For auction is an extremely rare Bode 735 Frequency Shifter. This is a device designed by Harold Bode in the 60’s which was produced until the early 80s by his company Bode Sound Co.
This instrument is most well known for being repackaged and included as the Moog 1630 Frequency Shifter of the 1970s Moog Modular systems.

The Bode up for sale has been dated to 1972 and appears to use the same PCBs as the Moog 1630. These were hand assembled by Bode and are extremely uncommon outside university electronics studios.
I acquired this one in 2002 and was told at the time it once belonged to Vladimir Ussachevsky who started the Columbia Princeton Electronic Music Studio in the 1960’s.

CONDITION:

I have been collecting and repairing vintage electronics since the 1990’s, I have over 18 years experience as a restoration technician of high end and rare instruments and this is from my personal collection.
There has been no work performed on this historic device besides replacing the frayed power cable for safety reasons, the old cable will be included in the sale if the winner wants it. I found the identical vintage
style cable at an electronics supplier to keep this as authentic as possible.

There are no unexpected surprises here."

Some interesting pics of the inside and underneath the front panel.

"TWO CR78 drum machines both with battery acid burns on the main board, this burns the circuit traces under the battery and prevents the machine from working. Let this be a lesson to change the rechargeable battery in your CR78!!!!!

One machine is totally complete and assembled with acid burns on the main board where the battery would have been (the leaky battery has since been removed) but other than that looks sharp with minor wear. The face and back are REALLY clean looking and the black tolex has minor wear. IF you have the skills to replace burnt traces and replace a few bad caps or chips (just speculating) you will have a really nice CR-78. I do not know what caps or chips are good NO attempt has been made to repair this by me. The previous owner took it to a lame organ/accordion store in the 90s for repair without success. They removed the leaky battery and handed it back to him with a shoulder shrug."

"Since YouTube is chock full of guitar-based demos, I thought I'd contribute a quick little demo to show how you can use a looper pedal with a synthesizer / keyboard. Typically I use the pedal for drones and ambient loops but sometimes its fun to jam too.
Synthesizer used in demo is the Formanta Polivoks."

Casio FZ1 v Korg MS20 (Rev 1)

Published on Sep 4, 2016 punkdiscoUK

"The Casio FZ1 (FZ10M and FZ20M) have a wonderfully dirty analogue filter that sounds very similar to the Korg MS20. Quick demo comparing the two, firstly using one of the FZ preset waves then, sampling the MS20 wave using its Osc1 direct out. The MS20 is a modern MS20M with all the extra patch points hooked up, including the Osc1 direct out."

MiniBrute & MicroBrute Outtakes

Googlish:

"Here are some tests, some jams, some unfinished pieces that never really emerged as I could do with my two synthesizers and MiniBrute MicroBrute Arturia. I book you towards the decoration of January 2013 to September 2016. Please note some music is not really mixed, others are a little more. Some songs have a single musical line to offer, others a little more. Some music is rather experiments on the stamp or envelope, others were not far from comprehensive music. In short, for seasoned fans only! lol"
