Zetaohm FLXS1 Eurorack Modular Sequencer

FLXS1 Demo 1 Published on Mar 11, 2016 - Demo 2 here.

"Here we see the FLXS1 sequencing multiple modules simultaneously: the Macbeth Micromac, Intellijel Atlantis, Mutable Instruments Rings and a Ladik D-333 with the Korg ROM Chip installed. UAD Apollo was used for reverb and recording. Everything is recorded in one take. Levels are the only thing that were modified after recording. FLXS1 is running in quantized mode to keep all notes in tune. The FLXS1 was reset before this take, all melodies were programmed live during recording."

Sigabort - LaunchControl X Control Surface Script for Ableton Live - Walkthrough

Sigabort - LaunchControl X Control Surface Script for Ableton Live - Walkthrough from Isotonik Studios on Vimeo.

"Sigaborts latest creation is an extended Control Surface script for the Novation LaunchControl that adds additional functionality for its use with Ableton Live...

In this video we walkthrough the new User 6 mode that allows you control 16 parameters at once with Ableton Lives BlueHand AutoMapping functionality...

And we show how it can be combined with our PrEditor Mapping Utility and the LaunchSync Series to define which parameters are AutoMapped to and sync the Red Box we've added to the like of the AKAI APC40, the Ableton PUSH 1 & 2 and the Novation LaunchPad family..."

And the press release:

"We here at Isotonik Studios have a fascination with small form MIDI controllers, they maybe diminuitive in size but with a little Sigabort magic they can pack a ton of functionality within them. The next in our series of Control Surface Scripts for Ableton Live is for Novations LaunchControl, an 8 button 16 Encoder mini beast...
USER 6 MODE - 16 PARAMETER CONTROL

Given the number of Factory and User Pages of settings we decided to add our trademark AutoMapping Upgrade. Switch to User 6 Mode and whatever is being controlled by the BlueHand Automapping feature of Live will now give over 16 parameters of control to the encoders for each bank!

PrEDITOR COMPATIBLE

Of course working in banks of 16 is a different concept to the standard 8's, as such you may find that you want to tweak how Devices, Instruments, VST's, AU's and MaxforLive devices are AutoMapped. Good job we've made this budget script PrEditor compatible, as you can build up the maps in the assigned 16's and even map parameters previously hidden to all but the Ableton Push & Push TWO!

LAUNCHSYNC COMPATIBLE

And not only that, with our LaunchSync Series you can additionally sync the on screen Ring Focus Box to other supported controllers, adding two rows of encoders to a Novation LaunchPad or AKAI APC40 amongst others...
CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

In line with our other Control Surface Scripts you can define a set of options to personalise your controller even further.

Choose between different modes for displaying return tracks
Set a maximum number of return tracks to display
Set how many tracks are moved left and right when moving around the set
Choose whether the master track is displayed, allowing master volume to be controlled

Introducing THE CMS 2607 - An ARP 2600 on Steroids

As you know, CMS (Cirocco Music Systems) is Phil Cirocco's synth company. He is not only the world's most renown ARP tech (BTW, see my CMS Lumina upgraded Odyssey here!), but also a manufacturer. THE CMS 2607 is his latest creation. Knowing it comes from him, you know this is going to be one great synth.

The following are some details via CMS:

"THE CMS 2607 6U RACK MOUNT INTEGRATED SYNTHESIZER

CMS is proud to unveil for the first time, our new synthesizer, the CMS 2607. We took all the features of the original ARP 2600, combined them with our world famous upgrades, added more cool stuff and then squeezed it all into a 6 space rack mount heavy duty enclosure. This particular incarnation is the '2500 version' that features a beautiful heavy duty brushed aluminum front panel. We are also currently making standard versions using grey and blue paint similar to the original ARP 2600 factory color schemes.

Initially, a very small quantity of special issue handmade 2607s will be made available to the general public until the factory produced models are available. These will be priced higher than the factory made mass produced units.

Price for one of the hand-made limited edition $8699.00. (9,499.00 for units with early type VCOs) plus packing and shipping charges.

Target price for the standard version 2607 will be 4999.00 USD . The standard version is not available at this time but we will soon be taking orders on the standard version. This price is subject to change. Check back with this page if you are interested in the standard version and can wait.

If you are interested in ordering one of the special issue limited edition 2607s now, send a paypal deposit of $3000.00 USD to filter@discretesynthesizers.com to register your order or mail us a personal check. Delivery guaranteed to be no longer than 4 months from the date of deposit. There is a limit on how many of these special order units that will be available for 2016, so contact us now if you are seriously interested.."

Ondomo / New Ondes Martenot Pics

You might recall the Ondomo Ondes Martenot by Asaden previously posted here.

Josh Semans wrote in to let me know he put some pics of his up on his Instagram page. He had the following to say:

"I saw your post about the Ondomo and thought I would drop you an email.

I own one of only two Ondomo in England, the other is owned by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. I met the craftsman in Paris in July and have met with him again in Manchester since. We keep in touch and he is very interested in what I am doing with it. He is such a nice man.

The Ondomo truly is beautiful, and I thought you may like to post some more photographs of it."

I definitely would! Beautiful instrument. Also, I new that Jonny Greenwood used an Analogue Systems French Connection (as seen here). It would make sense that he also has the Ondomo.

Thank you Josh!

Introducing the SYNTH-WERK SW 6401M Bode Ring Modulator 5U Module

via SYNTH-WERK

"It was probably electronic music pioneer Karlheinz Stockhausen’s use of the ring modulator that inspired an entire generation of rock musicians. Stockhausen’s Mixture (1964) for example, was written for a ring modulated symphony orchestra.

Ring modulation is often used to simulate the sounds of tuned percussion instruments that produce inharmonic frequency spectra, such as bells and chimes. It can also produce timbres that are difficult to achieve by any other method of synthesis.

Among all signal processors the multiplier-type ring modulator takes a unique position, since it is capable of converting existing sounds into new sounds with entirely different overtone spectra.

The SW 6401M is based on the original design of Harald Bode from 1967. The design is a circuit involving a ring of diodes and transformers forming a four quadrant multiplier. To accomplish a one unit module, the transformers UTC-A20 have been replaced by smaller vintage UTC SO 15P transformers"

Roland VP-03 Boutique - VP-330 Vocoder Plus Clone - demo

Published on Sep 23, 2016 RetroSound

"(c) 2016 vintage synthesizer demo by RetroSound

Roland VP-03 Vocoder (2016) is the digital clone of the Roland VP-330 Vocoder Plus from the year 1979

- ACB synthesis = virtual analog synthesis like the AIRA/Boutique series
- polyphony: 6 voices
- USB Bus & Midi In Out
- strings, human voices, vocoder, chord memory, step sequencer.

This demo video shows the possibilities and the sound character. The sound is a bit different to the VP-330. More clean and less the lushness but not bad.

The comparision video with the old VP-330 follow next week."

So I decided to make an tuned analog pack for the Analog Rytm. Here's a demonstration of 64 sounds, 11 kits, 11 patterns that come with the pack. As an Analog Rytm user, it might be fun to poke around in my patterns, and see how I'm doing it. (Most of the time, it's pretty straight forward :)
