Division 6 Business Card Sequencer

via Division 6.

How cool is that? A business card that is actually functional. I love it when manufactures do this. Analogue Solutions had a circuit board business card as well. If you know of others, feel free to leave a comment.

Details, including how to get your own, via Division 6:

"Boards for this fun little sequencer, which can also be used as a tiny keyboard, were handed out to everybody who attended Knobcon 2016. If you're wondering what to do with your board, or want to get one of your very own, you've come to the right place.

Connections, From Left to Right

Power In: 7-15VDC, tip positive (Don't reverse it or it will get mad). Just find a voltage source on your synth somewhere. If the notes being played by the sequencer seem flat, the power supply you have chosen may be dropping too much under load. If you can't or don't want to use your synth to power the sequencer, you can use a 9V Battery or AC power supply.
Clock In: 0-5V is ideal, but going outside that range won't hurt it. Step will advance on rising edge.

CV Out: 1 volt/octave, C=1V/2V/3V. Connect to the CV in on your oscillator (or filter or whatever)

Gate Out: On=+5V. Plug this into your VCA, EG, etc. Gate timing follows the clock when the sequencer is running, buttons when in Ready mode, and stays on while programming.

Operation

Push Run to start playing a sequence. The true green Run LED will light to tell you that you are in Run mode. Push it again to Pause. The sequencer steps can be programmed while paused.

Push reset to stop the sequence, go to step 1, and enter Ready mode. The blue step LED will blink to let you know that you are in Ready mode. This means that when you press Run again, the sequencer will play step 1 on the next clock pulse instead of skipping it and going to step 2.

Eurorack Modules by Cavisynth

Published on Apr 20, 2016 Cavi Master

Note, this is the first Cavisynth post on the site. They have modules listed on their site as follows:

The Arudurack

"Ardurack is a multifunction eurorack module based on Arduino.
It has 8 functions all centered around pulse/square signal:

Trigger by the push of a button (2 to 100ms per impulse).
Tap-Tempo trigger (2 to 100ms per impulse).
Modulator, a voltage controlled square wave LFO. Frenquency range is fixed between 0,5Hz (2000ms) and 15Hz (65ms).
Simple square wave VCO (gated or continuous mode).
Complex square wave VCO 1 (gated or continuous mode).
Complex square wave VCO 2 (gated or continuous mode).
Noise (gated or continuous mode).
440Hz Tuner
The conception and functiunalities of the Ardurack make it differ from other modules in it’s own unique way.
Every single mode has it’s own particularity. They may seem simple at first but with well-thought and clever addons, they transform the module in a complex utility workload machine! For instance things like having a hold option on the trigger when it is high, the doubling of the modulator period by the simple push of a button or the gated mode on the VCO’s which avoids the need of an external VCA.

The developing philosopy of the module started from one constraint: The Arduino ProMini board based on the Atmega328p microcontroller. The idea is to extract all good working signal from this chip for the eurorack world. This chip only provides digital signal or square waves. Therefore every output mode is based on square wave / pulse / triggers.
Eventhough it is deliverd fully assembled, functional and equipped with the different modes explained, it is up to you to make this module yur own. You may upgrade or downgrade it’s hardware or firmware! It is possible to re-programm it with the Arduino environement and an FTDI adapter. You may also want to add more inputs and/or outputs out of the non-exploited I/O on the ProMini board. You buy the hardware, the assembly and the developping, the rest is up to you!
As to say, it is also the first official module from Cavisynth Labs.
First of a long list to come!"

The SEQ-UFD

"SEQ-UFD is a fuly & small ( 18HP ) 8 step sequencer based on Arduino.

To begin with, why this name: SEQ-UFD ?

Ok, I think “SEQ” it’s obvious, but “UFD” ? no idea?
This means absolutely nothing! Maybe you can found something but the only way is a pun in French.
In French, SEQ-UFD is pronounced the same way as C.Q.F.D (cé. cu. èf. dé )
C.Q.F.D: “Ce qu’il fallait démontrer” -> This was to be demonstrated. Voilà!

Number of steps selector controled by knob
Multimode controlled by knob or CV
Internal or external clock ( internal: 20 to 2500 ms )
Trigger output: ideal for EG (70 ms)
External clock input + reset steps input
8 separated gated output ( like Doepfer A-161 clock sequencer )
8 steps with voltage controled by knob
CV outpout with range controled by knob
List of available modes:

Step selector (hold step) (1 to 8)
Forward routine ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)
Backward routine ( 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 )
Forward-backward routine ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
Crab routine based on the first step ( 1->2, 1->3, 1->4, 1,->5, 1->6, 1->7, 1->8 )
Z (zed) routine ( 1->5, 2->6, 3->7, 4->8 )
Random

Like the Ardurack, the developing philosopy of the SEQ-UFD started from one constraint: The Arduino ProMini board based on the Atmega328p microcontroller. The idea is to extract all good working signal from this chip for the eurorack world. This chip only provides digital signal or square waves. Therefore every output mode is based on square wave / pulse / triggers / gates.
An ideal context for making a sequencer!

Always like the Ardurack, you may upgrade or downgrade it’s hardware or firmware! It is possible to re-programm it with the Arduino environement and an FTDI adapter. You buy the hardware, the assembly and the developping, the rest is up to you!"

Note the wood is actually engraved.

"This is one phenomenal instrument. It lives and breathes a beautiful sound of its own. Out of everything I have to sell to go to Vet school this is the one piece I still want to hang on to.

I had this plugged into a Strymon Timeline and Bluesky and the results are literally awesome. There's some patch sheets on Muffwiggler that got me started and then I just got into it from there.

I got this brand new earlier in the year and it still smells like fresh cut wood - awesome!

It comes complete with a stereo output jack, power supply and 26 PVC stacking banana plugs (various lengths) from Test Path so you'll have everything you need to plug and play right away.

This is the ticket to unique one-of-a-kind sounds, atmospheres and drones in your music and film scores.

Enjoy her!"

"This thing has undoubtedly seen it's share of action over the years. It has quite a few nicks, scratches and dents. Just by looking at it you can almost hear the countless attempts to play Frankenstein that have been tried on it. This is literally one that is going to be tough to see leave.

This Minimoog is definitely not a museum piece. It is not all original and has it's share of issues, but it is a great instrument. It is what we would call player's grade, and I would love it to go to a home where it will get the crap played out of it.

Let's get down to the details.

- First the serial number and completion signatures would indicate that it was created in 1974.
- Everything is in working order and sounds great, as I literally had put $500 into it getting it up and running less than 1 month ago. I had it serviced by Mike Borish over at Borish Electronics who is one of the best here in Chicago for old synths.
- Mike was able to replace any grommets on the keyboard so there are no clacking keys that plague these boards.
- Several pots have been changed out as well as a new power cord.
- There is a scratchy switch, but only one and it is the 440 signal for tuning. Only make a scratching noise when switched on or off.
- The keyboard is not perfectly level, as seen in the photos. It is very playable however.
- It is missing screws for one bracket on the actual wooden frame, you can see that in photo #21. The frame is rock solid however.
- Has a strange flaw in the finish on the top front panels that can only be seen in certain light, shown in photo #13
- Keep in mind that things have been changed out on this, so it can not be considered all original.

There are just a few pots that are still a little scratchy, but nothing major. I also have not had the chance to try the external controller connections so cannot say if those work or not. There does seem to be a little static from the high output jack, but the low output jack works just fine."

Kilpatrick Audio Introduces the K3021 Master VCO Eurorack Module

K3021 Master VCO Module Demo Published on Sep 27, 2016 KilpatrickAudio

"Check out the K3021 Master VCO module from Kilpatrick Audio. This module offers the same amazing sound and features as half of the K3020 Dual VCO in a compact and affordable module."

via Kilpatrick Audio

"Eurorack Triangle Core VCO with Waveshapers - 18HP

Built on the success of the K3020 Dual VCO, the K3021 Master VCO offers a single channel oscillator based on this famous design. Completely redesigned to replace now hard to find parts, the K3021 uses a complete new triangle core design based around discrete transistors for an amazing tone excellent stability. Useful as both your main pitch oscillator and as a complex low-frequency signal source (LFO) the K3021 Master VCO is a workhorse module great for any system.

One of the features that makes the K3021 extra special is its use of complex waveshapers and pulse width modulation circuits to create unique timbres. You can select between sine, triangle and ramp waveforms for the WAVE section. These waves then feed into the triple pulse width modulator to create very rich pulse waves that have a much more lively character than a simple single-channel PWM. Choose from one of three PULSE output combinations for unique variations.

The BLEND and PULSE outputs can be used independently, or can be combined through the use of the ultra-low distortion blend section. Smoothly fade between the WAVE and PULSE waveforms either manually or with voltage control. By using the blend circuit especially with the LFO mode engaged, very complex modulation waveforms can be easily created.

Features and Specs

Eurorack (3U) form factor - 18HP width

Adventures in Synthesis: Backyard Fall Afternoon Modular

Published on Sep 27, 2016 Chris Beckstrom

"I'm on a mission to challenge some ideas about modular synthesis:

That is has to be expensive, or that you can't build it yourself, or that it has to look pretty, that it's too complicated, that you need an electrical engineering degree to play it, or that you can't take it outside.

After all, it's a musical instrument not totally unlike a guitar. Now that I've reconfigured it a bit, why not bring it out to the back yard and play a bit?

This simple patch was inspired by the work of Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. If you haven't heard her magnificent music, check it out!

Patch Notes

There are 4 voices in this patch: The bassline, a 3-note repeated figure by saw waves, the delay of that figure, and another saw oscillator.
