Final Run of Flight of Harmony Quad Plague Bearer

via Flight of Harmony

"Flight of Harmony is taking pre-orders for the last ten Quad Plague Bearer stand-alone units. These units are based on the v3.3 circuit boards and will feature inverted graphics (aluminum on black, like the Sound of Shadows module)."

USD$350.00+ Shipping & Handling

For those not familiar with the Quad Plague Bearer:

"What is the Quad Plague Bearer Desktop Unit?

It is four independent Plague Bearers housed together to infect, corrupt and pervert a signal beyond recognition.

It contains four Voltage-Controlled Resonant Bandpass filters that were designed with the goals of maximum signal alteration and maximum parameter control. Each filter has controls for varying the high and low corner frequencies of the pass band, as well as variable gain and an input attenuator. Each section of the Plague Bearer can be used as a filter, an oscillator, a noise generator, or even as a resonance oscillator!

Depending on the settings, the filter can be a lowpass, highpass, single-bandpass, or multiple-bandpass. Adjusting the resonance point can cause the filter to self-oscillate in many ways: By adjusting the controls to just below the point of oscillation, and then applying a pulse, square, or other abrupt-edged input signal waveform will “ring” the filter. A simple “click” on the input can give a percussive output sound – from bass drum to bell to a harsh metallic clang; Crank the controls up and this beast will scream like a banshee! The oscillation can be damped or continuous. Chain a couple in series and get accumulating feedback – the build-up can be slow, fast or instantaneous. White Noise is easy to do – you don’t even need an input signal! Turn the input all the way down, and then slowly turn the gain up. You can adjust the “color” of the noise with the frequency controls. Daisy-chaining multiple filters can give a “comb” or multi-phase noise. About phase-shift characteristics: A single filter can give a STRONG chorus effect if so desired, useful as a sub-oscillator or just to 'fatten' a sound."

1982 HOHNER STRING PREFORMER SN 818150

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"The Hohner String Performer is a fully electronical string machine made in Germany. It has strings in 3 footages (CELLO, VIOLA, VIOLIN), which are mixable via volume faders. Also CLAVICHORD and PIANO presets, all free mixable. Each half of the keyboard has these features. A bass preset can be added to the left half of the keyboard.

On the right, there is a simple monophonic preset synthesizer with 4 presets: BRASS, STRING, CLARINET and PLANET. The String Performer is fully polyphonic and has a decent analog string tone.
This german early eighties string keyboard was one of the last variations on building a string ensemble keyboard with or without some extras added.

This one features:

PIANO
CLAVINET
CELLO
VIOLA
VIOLIN
as full polyphonic sound sources. Additionally a bass sound can be activated for the lower two octaves. The keyboard is split in two plus three octaves. And each half can get a unique combinations of the above named sounds.

At the right hand of the keyboard you can switch on one of the five available monophonic synth sound presets:

BASS
STRING
CLARINET
PLANET
OCTAVE (transposes all the sounds named before one octave down) The volume of the mono synth section is usually way higher then the rest of the keyboard.

In the back there are the following sockets (left to right):
GENERAL out (= main out)
BASS out
STRINGS out
PIANO/CLAVINET/ SOLO (= mono synth) out
SUSTAIN PEDAL in
FOOTSWELL pedal in
MAINS in (the 110V versions appear to have an external power supply)"

This keyboard works perfectly. It's condition is very near mint. All keys and knobs are tight and beautiful. The ribbon controller is in perfect shape, which is usually the first part to age/be damaged. It has had one slight modification, which you can see in the photos - the fine tuning knob has been moved from the back of the chassis to the front, directly to the right of the keyboard. It holds it's pitch excellently, but it's nice to be able to tune to someone else without thinking about it too much. This is a beautiful piece."

"The original juno 6 is known to many as the best of the Juno series. There's something different about the oscillators and filter i believe. We, at one point, compared it to a Juno 60 and a Juno 106. The original 6 had a slightly bigger and beefier sound than that of the 60 (although the 60 offered patch recall). The 106 was the smoothest but lacked the "attitude" of the 6. For these reasons we have kept and used this Juno 6 for years and used it on many recordings. It has always deliver the BEST of the juno sound."

Anyone confirm the difference between the 6 and 60? The 106 is definitely different, but the 6 and 60 are supposed to be sonically identical.

Original composition by Hirokazu 'Hip' Tanaka - any credit goes to him for writing such an immersive soundtrack in the first place. Happy 30 years of Metroid!!"

"I am the original owner of this Sequential Circuits Pro One vintage synthesizer, serial number 2064. I purchased it from Guitar Center Hollywood in August, 1981. The power transformer is case-mounted and the keyboard is the J-wire type. It has spent its entire life in my home recording studio and is in excellent condition as you can see in the photos.

If you're not familiar with the Pro One, its sound generation is 100% analog. The keyboard inputs are digital as are its onboard sequencer and arpeggiator. It has versatile modulation routing and is outrageously fun to play with.

I did the following to prepare it for sale:

1. Cleaned it thoroughly inside and out.

"The right end cap and key cap are detached. Right now I have them taped on. (See photos.) Should be a fairly easy fix, I think you can just screw them in, but I haven't figured out how to do that. This doesn't affect the sound/functionality at all and doesn't really affect the durability. Good condition otherwise."

Vintage Moog Memorymoog with LAMM

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

"The Memorymoog is in AS-IS condition. Due to the storing conditions, the foam in the case became tacky and fell throughout the keyboard. Upon internal inspecting, a number of the capacitors showed signs of corrosion. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced throughout the synth. However, it still has a fluctuation when powering up. This is not a power supply or voltage issue, but rather, a boot error from the CMOS itself. It has worked intermittently at times, but it continues to keep stopping during the boot process and freezes. When it didn't freeze, everything was working well. It is being sold as-is at this time, however, a search for new CMOS chips with the programming are being sought after. If these are found and it resolves the boot issue, the synth will be reposted in working condition, and I am sure the price will be even higher.

This MemoryMoog has the Linntronics LAMM upgrade installed.

The battery is also new."

"Moog MiniMoog Model D serial #3387 was manufactured in the USA in the 1970's and is being sold in used condition as is along with item's power supply cable only. I purchased this item from Guitar Center in June, 2012. I had the keyboard serviced at that time by the Moog service center in Mesa, Arizona where they went over the entire keyboard and as a result they replaced the power supply cable, adjusted pitch wheel and modulation wheel. Cleaned all pots, connectors, switches and jacks. Cleaned all keyboard contacts. Calibrated all oscillators and tuned the A440. The keyboard has been kept in the studio, where it was lightly played and never used on the road. The keyboard operates and oscillators tune up and then plays in tune."

"Live improvisation design test session on my Tokarev Protosynth V1 and V2 prototype connected through a digital dynamic range compressor prototype that I built based on the TAS3002 integrated circuit. Compressor output goes through an optically controllable frequency low pass filter and finally recorded to computer. MIDI notes are sent from FL Studio on separate MIDI channels for both V1 and V2 synths. Drums sequenced on FL Studio.

The V2 synthesizer features separate DAC bit outputs which are connected to an analog source selector. Selection of the output is synchronized to MIDI clock coming from FL Studio. Some details are yet to be done in the clock synchronization timing selection so that it always synchronizes from first beat."
