Cyclone Analogic TT-606 Drum Machine Unboxing Overview and Demo by djthomaswhite

Cyclone Analogic TT-606 Drum Machine Pt. 1 "Unboxing and Build Quality"

Published on Dec 28, 2016 djthomaswhite

"The Natural Rhythm Music Equipment Show presents an unboxing video and a review of the packaging and build quality of the new Cyclone Analogic TT-606 analog drum machine. The TT-606 is inspired by the classic Roland TR-606 drum machine. Of note are the included hard dust cover, polished clear coating on the top, travel case and the overall solid build quality for this new drum machine. The switches are crisp, the pots feel solidly mounted and smooth, and the buttons are firm and note squishy in their silicone nature. This video is primarily talking so if you'd like a long, almost word-less overview of programming beats without reading the manual first check out Part 2 of this 2-part video series. Thanks to Perfect Circuit Audio for making this available directly in the USA!"

Cyclone Analogic TT-606 Drum Machine Pt. 2 "Making Beats"

Published on Dec 28, 2016

"The Natural Rhythm Music Equipment Show presents DJ Thomas White showing a slow, but direct view of making beats in the Cyclone Analogic TT-606 analog drum machine. No talking about what is going on so submit questions if you have them. Basically, this video shows me turning on the machine for the first time, NOT reading the manual and making some beats. It's based on a TR machine after all so programming will be very familiar to most folks. It's a bit long, but it shows the process of using the machine without all of the bells and whistles it offers. The tone is the point, and as such we did not include any post processing. The audio was recorded directly into a Presonus 16.0.2 mixer and edited into the video without any compression or limiting. This machine is much deeper than I thought it would be and I look forward to spending more time with it, along with the manual this time, to learn and get comfortable with some of the new features this machine brings to the drum programming table. Cyclone Analogic, "Hello!" new friend. I'll be visiting the rest of your family soon. Thanks to Perfect Circuit Audio for making this available in the USA!"

Thanks to Gotharman for designing this little monster!
With the AnamonoX he shrank a huge modular synth to the size of a small box and kept the fat sound. It contains up to 5 digital VCOs or Sample Players, Noise, Ring Mod, 2 analog (!) VCFs, up to 4 digital VCFs, 4 VCAs lots of LFOs, Random, Envelopes, a Sequencer, Midi and CV/Gate, a Touch Keyboard, (granular) FXs and much more! Endless possibilities for designing NOISE!!!!"

New Behringer Drum Machine Prototype 808 & 909 Evaluation Boards

We saw the note back in October. It looks like Behringer has already started prototyping. Two pics and a note from Uli Behringerin via Soviet Space Child:

'Dear all,

first of all I like to wish you a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.

Sometime in July this year I announced we are looking into developing analog as well digital drum machines. I thought I would now share with you aspects of the development process.

At this stage our main focus is on sound creation and for this purpose we resurrected the highly regarded 808 and 909 analog drum machines from the '80's.

Attached are the pics of the first evaluation boards that allow us to study and compare the sound of analog drum instruments. However, our intention is not to clone these products but to evaluate analog sound generation and add a great user interface and sequencer.

I can tell you that the team is having lots of fun listening to these drum sounds that greatly contributed to amazing music in the past. It is actually not surprising that people gravitate to analog sounds as it is the imperfection that evokes emotions. Perhaps it is the fact that we humans are analog, too :-)

While we are far away from releasing a finished product, we thought we would get you involved in this enjoyable design process.

As always we love to hear your opinions.

Uli"

"Unique chance to get an almost time capsuled analog duophonic Maxi-Korg synthesizer from the mid seventies. Aesthetic very clean. mostly unused. Very few flaws on the wood panels. Only aesthetic drawback: has been engraved on the back and inside the back door's power cord (they did that in the eighties for security).

Extra rare related items in very good condition: beige leather dust cover, metal side panel.

Version not always common with on the back the inputs for traveller foot pedal.

Works fine. Some switches are noisy when moved and need a bit of cleaning and the lower synth needs repair for the tuning of the highest octave."

"Arturia’s MatrixBrute synthesizer now shipping

Grenoble, France, 28 December 2016

MatrixBrute, the powerful analog synthesizer from Arturia, is now shipping. Offering three Brute oscillators, a Steiner-Parker filter and a ladder filter, five analog effects, and the incredible modulation matrix, MatrixBrute looks set to raise the bar for sound designers and performers alike.

Announced at the NAMM show in January 2016, the Arturia team have worked with sound designers such as Richard Divine and Katsunori Ujiie to include presets to show the full capabilities of the synthesizer, from classic ripping leads to never head before soundscapes, possible because of the revolutionary matrix section. The 100% analog MatrixBrute also features a 49-note full size keyboard with velocity sensitivity and aftertouch for a fully expressive experience. Add to this the sequencer, arpeggiator, Steiner Parker filter, and a host of connectivity options, MatrixBrute is a monster of a synth.

Arturia have received their first units which will be shipping to select retailers, with additional stock expected very early 2017."

Yamaha CS-60: "Too Many Days"

Published on Dec 27, 2016 raycastile

"Hello again. This is a brooding, layered improv, kind of melancholy, kind of meditative, with a few sparks and hysterics.

Instead of a video of me playing live, I'm giving you a montage of still images. What a gyp! But there's a reason. I rolled out of bed Dec. 27 (had the day off for holiday break), drank some tea and started playing my synths. Then I hear about Carrie Fisher dying and felt more bummed out than usual, so I worked that into my playing. I thought I might as well record this while I'm at it, so I just started recording. I randomly selected that little rhythm ta-ta-ta-ta sound on my MoroderNova and thought it sounded pretty cool, so I just started building on that. Twenty minutes later, I had the foundation of this track. Then I started layering more parts. I hadn't showered, changed clothes, or done anything. I just rolled out of bed and recorded this. So that is why there is no video of me playing it. I did not look presentable.

I'm terrible coming up with titles. I called this 'Too Many Days' because there have been too many days this year (2016) when we had to face bad news. Maybe a beloved artist dying, or something else going spectacularly wrong in the world. Too many days like that. This year has been too long. Enough already. And there is still a week left. Too many days left i this lousy year. Maybe there are good things on the horizon, but there are too many days between now and then. So that is where the title comes from. And the piece just goes on and on forever, much like 2016. But unlike this year, you can cut it short if you wish.

All the lead sounds are performed on my nifty Yamaha CS-60. The ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta rhythmic thing and the wind sound are from the Novation MoroderNova. The arpeggiated electric piano is the Yamaha Reface CP. The string/choir pad is from the XILS V+ plugin. The percussion is the standard orchestra kit in Logic Pro X. Am I forgetting anything? I think that's it.

Boy, I should have cleaned that hair off the pitch ribbon before I took those photos. Oh well.

Thank you for listening! Bye bye."
