Elektron Digitakt : MIDI Track as a CTL-AL Machine

"I will introduce the trick that produces effect like CTL-AL which was installed in Machinedrum SPS-1 by using Digitakt's MIDI track.

1.Overview

After setting all the MIDI channels of the
audio track to the same value,
if you connect the MIDI cable from OUT to
IN and sending CC from the MIDI track,
it is possible to control specific para-
meters of all Digitakt audio tracks in batch .

Furthermore ...
If you use this trick in Quantized Live-
rec mode, plugging in / out of parameter
control with mute operation will be
recorded in the sequence as it is,
producing unexpected effects.


2.How to set up

SETTINGS - MIDI CONFIG - SYNC:
CLOCK RECEIVE :OFF
CLOCK SEND :ON
TRANSPORT RECEIVE:OFF

PROG CH SEND :ON

SETTINGS - MIDI CONFIG - PORT CONFIG:
TURBO SPEED :ANYTHING
OUT PORT FUNC :MIDI
THRU PORT FUNC :MIDI
INPUT FROM :MIDI
OUTPUT TO :MIDI
OUTPUT CH :AUTO CH
PARAM OUTPUT :NRPN
ENCODER DEST :INT+EXT
TRIG KEY DEST :INT+EXT
MUTE DEST :INT+EXT
RECEIVE NOTES :OFF
RECEIVE CC/NRPN:ON

3. SETTINGS - MIDI CONFIG - CHANNELS:
TRACK 1-8 CHANNEL:1(ALL THE SAME VALUE)
AUTO CHANNEL :ANYTHING
PROG CH IN CH :AUTO
PROG CH OUT CH :AUTO


3.Notes

1. If you want to control the parameters with MIDI tracks at the momentary effect, I recommend that you fix the corresponding parameter in the created pattern beforehand with parameter lock.

2. It is recommended that all unused CCs in MIDI tracks be set to # 119. If you leave it at the default value, there is a possibility that other parameters of Digitakt may be changed without permission when inserting / removing the mute.

3. Since trying this trick with the current OS (1.02) frequently causes freezing, I strongly recommend that you back up the data beforehand.

4. Please be aware that Digitakt freezes when the density of the trigger output from the MIDI track exceeds a certain amount.
