Roland 530 Dual VCA 1/2: Overview (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

Published on Aug 16, 2017 Learning Modular

This is the first of two movies on the Roland System-500 530 Dual VCA. It’s a modern Eurorack adaption (via Josh Holley at Malekko) of the old System-100 130 Dual VCA module. In this video, I demonstrate taking advantage of both its audio input and control voltage mixers, explore its internal gain structure, and show a pseudo-stereo application using its two halves. In the second video, I dive into the issue of linear vs. exponential response.

Roland 530 Dual VCA 2/2: Linear vs. Exponential (LMS Eurorack Expansion Project)

"This is the second of two movies on the Roland System-500 530 Dual VCA. As the title says, here I focus on its Exponential vs. Linear response switch, including using it with an envelope generator (an Intellijel Quadra) that also has both linear and exponential shapes. I will be posting an article on LearningModular.com that will also go into this subject."
