Audulus 3 Updated Documentation Preview

Published on Jan 27, 2017 audulus

"We will soon be releasing a long-awaited thorough update to the Audulus documentation. Each node is explained in careful detail in easy-to-understand language with plenty of pictures, animations, videos, sound samples, and patches for you to explore. The documentation will essentially be a beginner's course in synthesis and computer science!

We will of course be updating it as new nodes appear, but we will also update it based on user feedback - so when it does go live, make sure you check it all out and let us know what you think on the Audulus forum!

If you have a request for the documentation, please leave it in the comments below - thanks!

My Drunk Friends - Behringer Deepmind 12, MFB Dominion 1 & Tanzmaus

Hawkeye - Neutron Blender (MFB Dominion I and friends - live)

Published on Jan 27, 2017 Maelstroem3

"Test-driving the MFB Dominion I and some friends, live-sequenced on the MIDIbox sequencer V4! :-)

I recently removed my computer/DAW from the synth setup, as I don't use it any longer (indeed i never used it, since the MBSEQ was finished many years ago :-)). The space that was occupied by the display was now available for another synth. After some long research and considerations, i chose the MFB Dominion, as I think it offers something new for me. In short words: it is fantastic! I still have to explore it more in-depth, as has a really powerful synthesis/modulation engine, but the first weeks with it were awesome! Thanks, MFB! :-)

Gear used:
Mono analog lead #1: Dominion I
Mono analog lead #2: Alesis Andromeda
Mono analog wall of noise: Moog Little Phatty, live controlled by the MBProgramma Patch Editor
Dry FM bassline: Yamaha FS1R, live modulated with the onboard encoders
Warm analog-ish (but fully digital) portamento pad: JD-990 through Polivoks DIY VCF (the left filter knob in the video... Thanks, J! What a deal, both of these are truly awesome!)
Drums: Elektron Machinedrum UW
FX: Strymon Timeline and Bigsky
Mixed through a Mackie 1604, directly recorded on a tascam .wav-recorder.

Thanks for watching and listening!

MAKING A SYNC LEAD PATCH ON THE DEEPMIND 12 ~ Synthesize This! Ep.10

Published on Jan 27, 2017 once upon a synth

"I make a lead patch on the Behringer Deepmind 12 synth. This patch is based around the hard sync sound which sync oscillator 2 to oscillator 1. This allows you to get interesting timbre shifts by modulating oscillator 2's pitch. I then explore adding effects, modulating the filter and making use of the poly chord feature."

I testet also I've it's possible to do a modular sidechaining.

And finaly there's a new track called Linearbeschleunigung coming out on Monday, 30.01.2017

"UNIVOX MINI-KORG K-2 ANALOG SYNTHESIZER VINTAGE Good working condition. I cleaned the switches & lubed the sliders. Note: White keys are painted black, low key is a bit mangled but works fine and the scratches by the volume pot are typical for this early 1970's synth. The power bulb does not light. See Photos."

"The Addac502 module generates Lissajous curves, so you can use complex harmonic motion in your sinthesis. These elaborated oscillations can create wonderful sounds, that go way beyond typical LFO modulation.

Lissajous curves create beautiful motion, that can go from simple circles, to more complex parabolic representations and even pseudo-3D structures or the so-called Lissajous knots."

"We'd never seen a set of Hillwood Basky II bass pedals before. Tony was sold on the funky faux-denim finish and groovy coloured knob caps; the bubbling acidic filter when we switched it on was an unexpected sonic delight.

We like the sound it makes, but we don't know much more about this vintage synth at this stage. It's in full working order and the controls are simple and self-explanatory...

The condition is good overall. We've added replacement knobs as some of the originals were missing. There is some very old plastic tape on the tops of all the pedals - this may well be removable but it will be a time-consuming task and does not affect the operation of the instrument."

How to learn Yamaha DX7 Synthesizer: FM synthesis – Sound Design Tub Bells Improvement Part 2

Published on Jan 27, 2017 Power DX7

All parts here.

"This tutorial series introduce many ways that you can apply to make improvements on the famous DX7 factory patches. Part 2 will revise what we’ve learnt so far in regards to the famous DX7 Tub Bells patch. Then we will focus on the algorithm interchangeability to make an improvement on the famous DX7 Tub Bells patch.

Although my tutorials use the DX7 for FM sound design, what you’ve learnt here can be applied to any FM synthesizers, including Yamaha dx7 vst and plug-ins such as Dexed, FM7 and FM8.

However, the resulting sound can vary due to limitation with software emulation of the DX7 FM synthesis."
