SUPERBOOTH17 Update

An update on SUPERBOOTH17 set for April 20 - 22 in Berlin:

"Berlin, March 2017: SUPERBOOTH17 at FEZ-Berlin

SUPERBOOTH is the first European trade fair for electronical music instruments. The second annual edition will be held from April 20th to April 22nd 2017, at a new location, FEZ-Berlin.

The timetable for SUPERBOOTH17 is getting tight! And with now more than 160 exhibitors from 22 countries there will be even more to discover at this year’s edition. You can already start to plan your trip through FEZ Berlin on our online floor plan and find your favorite exhibitors. Next to the long- known companies like Yamaha, Korg and Roland we set the focus on small and ambitious companies like Mutable Instruments and Oscillosaurus, who will join Superbooth for the first time.

Next to a whole lot of presentations, performances and concerts we were able to get Gudrun Gut to play some live shows with her project Monika Werkstatt. Within this series there will be daily improvised concerts during the evenings, played on lent instruments from our exhibitors. In general, the program will be more diverse at SUPERBOOTH17 with us trying to contribute to the idea of getting more women into the genre of electronic music and the development of electronic instruments. Therefore we are preparing daily workshops held by women for women.
We will have additional workshops in Konzertsaal 2, which are open to everyone and give you the opportunity to build your own synthesizer module or even whole musical instruments. These workshops will be professionally hosted from 11 a.m. and will be held by exhibiting companies like Moog, 4MS and Leaf Audio. You can buy tickets for the workshops on superbooth.com and you don’t need an additional Trade Fair ticket. Although we absolutely recommend attending at another day to enjoy everything else SUPERBOOTH17 has to offer and we also recommend staying for the evening program and enjoy the special concerts and talks we are planning.

To make sure that there will still be people around in twenty or fifty years from now, knowing what analog electrical musical instruments are and how they are engineered, we set up workshops for school classes to learn something about electronics and how to use synthesizers. The results of these workshops will be presented by the children on one of our stages at 12.20 p.m. every day.

As you can see, there will be a lot to learn and discover next to all the new and exciting instruments and electronics that our exhibitors are presenting. For further details and updates about the program or to buy tickets please visit our website: superbooth.com

Due to the dimensions of the building and safety reasons there is only a limited quantity of 1-Day- Tickets. We recommend ordering these tickets as soon as possible.

Endangered Audio Research Thee Gristleizer #6 Signed

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is #6 of the original run of Gristleizers made by Endangered Audio in Asheville, NC. These are the only Gristleizers officially endorsed by Chris Carter and Throbbing Gristle. This was my personal Gristleizer from 2009 until now. TG got serial numbers 1-5, I got #6, and the owner of Endangered Audio Research got #7. Serial numbers 8-15 were sold at the Logan Square show in Chicago during TG's reunion tour of the USA. This effect is a big part of TGs sound as well as their history. I personally presented TG with their Gristleizers in Chicago. There are photos documenting the occasion on Chris Carter's website gristleizer.com.

This until shows some signs of use and the CV in and out mod was done at some point. There is an 18v power adapter included with the sale. Also included is an extra top to the enclosure. This top is blank (no signatures) so you can take it out and use it without worrying about scratches or dings on the original. It is initialled on the inside by Todd Kelley, owner of Endangered Audio Research, and is marked #6 on the inside as well as the bottom. The number on the bottom is worn a bit, but is still there."

ARTURIA ORIGIN RACK Synthesizer

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Arturia's first true hardware synth aims to let you conveniently create your own modular system from modelled components of some of the best-loved analogues of all time. How well does it realise this ambitious goal?

Arturia Origin

Imagine being able to take the oscillator and filter modules from synthesizers such as the Minimoog and ARP 2600 and converting them into self‑contained software modules. Next, throw in a bunch of generic control modules and design a framework into which these can be inserted and cross‑connected, and house the whole thing in a powerful signal processor with all the hardware needed to program and use the thing. Voilà, mes amis — the Origin!"

Rozzbox One Synthesizer SN 00009

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"SUPER RARE L.L. Electronics Rozzbox One monophonic synthesizer. This particular unit is SN#00009!!! Literally the 9th Rozzbox ever made! This one also has the Analog Filter option factory installed making it even more rare! This synthesizer works perfectly... The only flaw is that the "data" rotary encoder has a small dead spot that has always been there since I bought this unit. It really only effects scrolling quickly through patches if you're not using the + and - buttons, but it's only a small dead spot anyway... so it really is barely noticeable.

This thing sounds unbelievable."

Cheap monday: MFB 522 / Fulldrive2 / 808 sounds

Published on Mar 6, 2017 se7ense7

"Dirty 808 sounds are dirt cheap with a little drumcomputer and a guitar pedal.

The way I do it, you lose the stereopanning of the MFB stereo out. It would be better to use the overdrive as a send-effect (with hardware or software) and use it parallel to the dry stereo-signal. Or you could buy two of the exact same overdrive-pedals, but that's just silly."

TWIN WAVES by KLAVIS - dual oscillator review (ENGLISH VERSION)

Published on Mar 6, 2017 Marcin Staniszewski

"This is a review of TWIN WAVES dual oscillator module - made by KLAVIS (www.klavis.com). The review also appears in April 2017 issue of "Estrada i Studio" - biggest Polish monthly magazine devoted to music production and studio equipment."

"The driving idea behind the Twin waves voltage-controlled dual oscillator/LFO is to offer two interesting oscillators in a skiff-friendly and compact size. To achieve that challenge, we built the product’s architecture on the concept of pre-defined algorithms, where the most useful configurations and their matching parameter are ready to use.

Two oscillators independently set as VCO or LFO
Features in VCO mode:

V/Oct tracking over 10 octaves
Through zero oscillator
Sub-octave output
Linear FM at audio rate
Hard & soft synchronization
Quantizer with various scales
Algorithm-based synthesis to choose among:
> Wave shaping
> Phase modulation
> Phase positioning of multiple waves
> 5 stacked oscillators in tunable unison
> Self-sync with phantom oscillator
> Additive synthesis (7 waves)
> Variable bit reduction (bit-crushing)
> Ring modulator with its own 2nd oscillator
> Noise with LPF, BPF, or resonant filter
Features in LFO mode:

Simultaneous signal and trigger outputs
Wave synchronization
Clock controlled rate with multiplier and divider
CV and knob control of output level
Algorithm based wave engine with a selection of:
> Wave shaping
> Phase modulation
> Random levels and vectors (also Brownian)
> Randomly spaced triggers and waves
Display with contextual icons and instant reminder help text
LEDs indicating potentiometer vs. value matching, switch settings and output levels
Automatically saved settings for instant recall at power on
Firmware update via a simple audio file"
