Make Noise Morphagene - First Test (in two parts)

"This is a first quick test of the wonderfully deep, Make Noise Morphagene. I haven't even had a chance to look at the manual yet, as I was just too excited to try this thing out. So here is what you'll find in this video:

Part One: I have the 4MS Spectral Multiband Resonator as the source for the Morphagene, which in turn is going into the Mutable Instruments Clouds. Everything is modulated with the Make Noise Richter Wogglebug and the Xaoc Devices Batumi Quad LFO.

Part Two: The source for the Morphagene is a 'Film Score' I created specifically for the Morphagene using various VST instruments in Ableton Live. Again Morhpagene is going into Clouds.

"I have always like FM Synthesis. Its like smashing atoms together (Sine waves in this case) in a collider and measuring the outcomes. It can be quite unexpected and is quite often more a journey of discovery than a pre-planned destination.

I haven't done a video on sound creation for a while and, not touched on FM Synthesis yet so time to play with the Arturia Synclavier-V.

For many people the Synclavier is a machine of mystery. It was even more expensive than the Fairlight in the 1980's and only the very top Studios and Sound designers of the day could get their hands on them.

Once sampling became the 'thing', the synthesis section of the Synclavier was almost forgotten. This is where Arturia have come in with their take on the Synclavier. While not really an emulation as such of the classic hardware more, a reimagining and look at where it could of gone next with FM sound creation."

"I recently picked up a Nord Drum 3P, and wanted to play a tune to feature it. Then this 7/8 groove/melody came up and I went with that. Cameos in the background from my girlfriend, daughter, and dog throughout.
I threw some Phil Collins-esque drum fills in at the end. The Nord Drum 3P sounds awesome. I personally can't wait to hear this through a huge sound system on stage. Whether you want to make DnB, 80's synth pop, or hand clappiness, it does it all. And of course the 0-Coast shines as a bass synth when not making bleeps or bloops.

Finally, cheers to a nuclear war not starting today! Peace Out"

Extremely rare. It's in excellent cosmetic condition. No dings, dents or serious cosmetic wear at all. The face is in beautiful shape. There's light scuffs on the top edge and a light blemish on the back as seen in photos. Lightly used and very well cared for!

It powers up and passes a signal but the effects aren't working as they should. All LEDs and lights work. "The CS80 has two sustain modes. On the one I have selected here (mode 1) the ribbon only affects notes which are held down. Sustaining notes are unaffected, which means that as long as you master the playing style, you can have a couple of different things going on at the same time. I wonder if those plug-in's and other emulations can do that...!?"

"How many of you have read the book, 'Roadside Picnic', or have seen the classic Russian film 'STALKER' by Andrei Tarkovsky? Not many? Didn't think so.

Anywho, this is me basically losing my fucking mind for 20 minutes, improvising off the melody from the main title song of the film. The ARP Odyssey is providing the drone, and later synthy-goodness. The Wurlitzer (if you can really call it that, cuz' it's so processed) is from the amazing Lounge Lizard EP-4; THE best and MOST authentic Rhodes/Wurlitzer plugin on the market, bar NONE.

I used the on-board effects with the plugin running in stand-alone mode.... we're talking reverb, delay, chorus and later on, some crunchy over-drive! I don't expect anyone to watch this whole video, but props to those who do! It was a lot of fun to play!

3 Modules #1: Maths, STO, Rings

Disregarding the 1U row, there are 10 separate modules. This means that there are a total of 120 different three-module combinations possible with my setup. In this video series I intend to explore each and every one of those combinations.

To start it all off: Here’s a drone piece featuring Maths, STO and Rings. I’m using a feedback loop through Rings, which is in «sympathetic strings» mode, over a low drone from the STO. And, of course, Maths provides some complex modulations of the sounds.

In principle, each patch will consist of only the three modules in the given combination. HOWEVER, the 1U row is «fair game». Some combinations may necessitate mixing, attenuation or an input clock signal, and this is why I won’t count the bottom row of utilities as separate modules. I’ll be happy to take requests as to which combinations to try out next."

"My first recorded jam with my new Matrixbrute. I have a glitchy/percussion loop being played by the Matrixbrute. The main synth sequence is from the Keystep and is playing the JX-03. The JU-03 is used for the short "lead/solo" parts that come in a couple of times. The Microbrute is playing the long bassline notes. More of the Matrixbrute to come... It is a BEAST!! All sequences done internally. DAW was used only for recording the stereo output of my Mackie mixer. Light compression added in Ableton, but otherwise raw! Enjoy."
