"This is the rack version of the amazing Nord Lead 3 virtual analog synth. Excellent condition and works great. Also includes rack ears, original power cable, and manual!

Clavia did something really cool with this synth that it didn't do with any of the other Nord Leads, before or since, and that's the super cool LED graphic rotary encoder knobs on this version. Also, the full LCD screen lets you save patch names instead of just numbers like the previous versions of the synths. And this are just some of the extra features.

Some of what Clavia says about the NL3....

With the Nord Lead 3 Clavia takes Virtual Analog to a higher level and introduces the Advanced Subtractive Performance Synthesizer. ‘Advanced Subtractive’ because of the extremely flexible sound engine, featuring a combination of traditional shapable waveforms and a very intuitive 2 or 4 operator FM engine. All this can be routed through the high quality multi filter for further shaping. ‘Performance Synthesizer’ because of its unsurpassed user interface and play control functions such as: keyboard hold, parallel polyphonic glide in legato mode, single-key triggering of whole chords and even clusters of slightly detuned voices for super-unison effects. The Nord Lead 3 also has four separate Morph groups. The Morph function lets you continuously control defined ranges of up to 26 parameters in a sound, using only a single control source. This lets you produce radical changes to a sound in a very fast and easy way."

Rheyne - Sequenced Jam #52 (Morphagene as a stereo delay)

Published on Sep 17, 2017 Rheyne

"Using the Make Noise Morphagene as a stereo delay for both VCOs of a DPO. The left input is VCO A, with FM from one of the VCOs of a Moog DFAM, faded-in with a channel from Maths to the carrier-in of a modDemix, triggered by a Tempi. The right input is VCO B, with FM from a 0-Coast, faded-in using the slope output to the Dynamics input, triggered by a different channel on the Tempi. Two Mother-32 sequencers control the pitch of both VCOs on the DPO.

The bass swells are from a Noise Engineering LIP, with an Erica Synths Black VC EG controlling filter swells on a Dave Smith Curtis Filter, with all four tone controls of the LIP modulated by an Erica Synths Octasource. The pad is from a third Moog Mother-32. Both of these voices run through an Erica Synths Black Hole DSP for additional reverb. Reverb on the main mix is from a Strymon BigSky.

No outside MIDI or DAW was used, all notes and modulations are from the synths."

Make Noise B&G Shared System - 'Balance'

Published on Sep 17, 2017 Caspar Hesselager

"No editing or post-processing. Audio-only versions of all patches:
https://soundcloud.com/caspar-hesselager

Overall patch notes:

-René sequences DPO Osc A and B with the unquantized (tuned manually) and quantized pitch cv.
Some X gates

-DPO has the gate out on Pressure Points 1 going to Exp FM on Osc B to create momentary, clangy, high-pitched notes. Osc A has a slight Lin FM from the Wogglebug Smooth Audio, and slight Exp FM from a few occasional Gates fired by René. Osc B is modulated by the Woggle audio out from Wogglebug. Both the Final and the Sine outputs on Osc B are used.

-Pressure Points 2-4 control Slide on Moprhagene, creating different presets for the sample.

-Maths OR and Sum outs go to Optomix, inverted output goes to Fold on DPO B.
Ch. 1 Fall is modulated by the cv out from Erbe Verb (going through Wogglebug S&H, making it a stepped voltage).

-ErbeVerb is set in reverse mode, clocked by Clock out from Echophon, and is modulated heavily
by its own CV out (going back into decay and depth) and Smoothed cv out from Wogglebug into Size.

-Tempi clocks René X and Y axes, occasionally sending a reset pulse to the X Mod input.

-Everything goes through a subtle delay on the Echophon before hitting the ErbeVerb."

"This was the start of an exercise to see how many drums voices I could get out of my big box.

I used an Optomix with some noise for #1 Disting MK3 Resonator for #2 Braids in various modes for #3 Rings for #4 Little Drummer Boy for #s 5, 6 and 7 Radio Music playing drum samples for #8

I noticed a couple things right away.

The Disting resonator makes a sound on both the rising and falling edge of any gate, so I had to crank gate width to 0 on the BSP.

The Radio Music was late, so I had to turn gate timing for each beat to -50 so things would happen on time.

I could probably build some more simple drums, but I'd want more ADSRs to do it right."

BURG - norwalkers (blofeld, volca, monologue, MI rings, braids, octone)

Published on Sep 17, 2017 ollilaboratories

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com

Waldorf Blofeld is in the house! :)

As some of you know I purchased the Blofeld while traveling in Europe on vacation and I have been dying to get a jam done since I came back home... on this premiere jam it does a sort of a gritty/brassy lead with some added messed up modulation using the pitch bend and modulation wheel. I am pairing it up with the big guns, eventide space and Strymon timeline for some ICE shimmer delay in the timeline + a smooth hall reverb in the space.

The track has a lot of stuff going on, TR8 in double speed, volca bass does the main bass with a monologue 14 step polyrhythm pattern on top being fed with some high overtone melodies from the volca fm (in a 16 step pattern) for that stabby chord effect.

The modular is doing an 8 step round robin on the octone with rings + braids is being controlled by the beatstep in a 12 step pattern... the braids has dual filters, HPF and LPF modulated by some LFOs and an envelope style curve in the maths which is triggered by random using the 2hp Turing machine.

The polyrhythms help to give a lot of space in between melodies since they create a lot of variation, e.g allows for smooth transitions.

Elektron A4 fills in with some sequences and percussion and it is also controlling the 0-coast via CV (which is not really visible under the monologue). The majority of the sequences and percussion in the analog four has conditional triggers set which adds complexity and variation to the beats.

All in all, a fun track to make with the new setup, even though I no longer have the system-1, tb-3, erebus.. it is a bit different when prepping everything with the waldorf being broken into the workflow :) but, still good fun! I do miss the bubbly TB-303 style sounds though, and I have a plan to replace that in the future, so do not despair! :)

Hope you can enjoy it!

Gear used: blofeld, NLA1, reface CP, ms-20, monologue, volca bass x2, fm, keys, elektron A4, TR8, 0-coast

ER-301 Ultraviolet Granular // Custom Unit Clouds Clone

Published on Sep 17, 2017 r beny

"Orthagonal Devices ER-301 Custom Unit - Ultraviolet (Clouds Clone)

As a challenge, I set out to make a Clouds 'clone' custom unit on the Orthagonal Devices ER-301. It's not strictly or exactly a clone, but rather a Clouds-inspired custom unit that expands on the Manual Grains unit in the 301. It adds a few Clouds-inspired controls, as well as a few other twists. I ended up with 2 different versions for now (more on that later). It's heavy on the CPU (65%-75%) and there were two features I played with swapping out. There are two main Clouds features missing - one is the reverb and the other is the texture control that shapes the envelopes of the grains.

This current version was built with and was only tested on firmware 0.2.18!! It may work with previous versions, as long as it has the highpass filter. I would recommend only using it on 0.2.18 for now. It's only in stereo for now as well. The input is automatically set to IN1, but may be changed.

Shoutout to Lance Drake and Bryan Noll for helping me test this! And shoutout to Joshua Saddler for notes and ideas.

Here is a list of the paramters and what they do (everything can be put under CV-control)

Wet/Dry - Sets the wet/dry mix between the input source and the granular unit
In Gain - Sets the amount of the input signal feeding into the recording buffer/granular unit
Freeze - Gate input, stops the recording buffer from recording
Trigger - Trigger input, triggers the grains
Reverse - Toggle input, reverses the grains
Density - Triggers the grains internally without the need for a trigger input
Position - Sets the start point for the grains
Size - Sets the size of the grains
Cut - Cutoff of the filters
Res - Resonance of the filters
Pass - "Spread" of the filters
V/Oct - Volt per octave pitch control of the grains
Warble - Adds a small amount of pitch warble to the grains. Has a chorus effect when you can still hear the dry signal
Spread - Stereo spread and panning amount of the grains
Mod - Adds internal random modulation to the Position and Size parameters that are synced to both the Trigger Input and the Density Input
Gain - Grain gain

There are two versions of Ultraviolet - one has a feedback control which feeds the grains back into manual grain unit. The other has a control called Refract that is a distortion/bit crushing unit. I'm including a custom unit with both controls, but it's prone to pops after a while.

The recording buffer is set to one second, just like Clouds, but it can be changed pretty easily.

Hope you enjoy!
