Back from the dead.

"The Davolisint is Italy's first analog synth.

First released in 1972 by Davoli Krundaal Musical SRL. This model is a hard to find piece of synth history!

Full working order, just needs a little cleaning.

On the left-hand side of the keyboard are rocker switches to engage the various footages of the oscillators, from 32' all the way up to 1/2'.

The rocker switches on the right side turn on or off VCO1, VCO2, Vibrato 1, Vibrato 2, T1 and T2 (which engage increasing amounts of portamento) and C—a sort of constant drone of the low C note.

In the middle there are sliders to adjust the tuning of VCO1 and VCO2, and the rates and depths of Vibrato 1 and Vibrato 2.

On the far left, the "Extend" lever is a spring loaded pitch bend—pull it down and the pitch bends upward one full octave, and then the lever slowly returns to its default position."

HAINBACH Bought The Worst Synthesizer

video upload by

"On a warm summer evening, after a few glasses of Riesling I went on Reverb and made an offer of 666 EUR on one of the most-disliked synths of all time, the Davoli Davolisint. Not thinking it would come through, as the seller wanted 1050EUR originally, I was surprised in the morning that I had actually bought it. People claim it is not even a synthesizer, but does it deserve its horrible reputation? Let's find out!"

You can find a demo of one posted here.

"Dent on the top and some external wear as shown in photos. Very rare and interesting synth. Sorry to let it go but I got bills yo

The Davolisint is a 2 VCO monophonic analog synthesizer with a 3-octave, 37-note (C-C) keyboard, with the bottom octave, colored dark grey, doubling as controller keys. It features a coarse tune slider effecting both oscillators and a fine tune slider for Oscillator 2. Both Oscillators are also controlled by 7 octave switches (32', 16', 8', 4', 2', 1', 1/2') which are very similar to an organ, both in look and function. Any or all switches can be engaged simultaneously. LFO is fixed at a triangle/sine wave and has sliders for frequency and depth. Pitch bend is controlled by a lever labeled "extend". What's strange about this synth is that there is no control over the VCF or the envelope generator, however, there is portamento. The switches can also be accessed by the grey-colored lower octave of the keyboard. Every function is controlled by a different key.

Curiously, there is a 5-pin socket for a pedal on the back. It is unknown what this is for. Also interesting to note, it seems to have been marketed, at least in part, by MXR, whose label is badged on the top."

This is the promo made by the Caravan's label in 1973 following the release of 'For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night'.

This promotional film paid and made for Decca Records in 1973 was shot as a playback recording (not live). It was featured on the BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test programme in the same year but was never seen again until release on the Caravan 35th Anniversary concert DVD set in 2004. The band and management now own the original negative print of the film which was rediscovered in the old vaults of Metrocolor at Technicolour London.

"For auction a Very Rare 1972 Davoli Davolisint. First Italian synthesizer. Works great with original case. Museum piece

There are numerous demos of this on the web. Italian monosynth, two oscillators, control over pitch 1/2-32', organ style.
Each oscillator can be detuned, each oscillator has independent vibrato, each oscillator has independent glide (T1 and T2 switches on panel). Two decay waveforms quick and no decay (continuous) (C switch on panel). High key priority.
Pitch bend level at left of control panel.

Includes original carrying case. Good condition with some dents and scuffs, one broken latch.
Synth is in excellent condition, tolex on case clean with no cuts, bruises or stains, keys clean, minor scratches to black painted control panel with a large scratch on top (see photo)

Unusual feature is the left most grey and black keys, rather than part of the notes keyboard these keys control the panel switches so one can 'play' the pitch, glide, vibrato and decay of the black/white keys.

See Dave Sinclair of Caravan play one here" [embed above]

See the Davoli label below for previous posts including a recent demo video.

"So here we have a very rare synthesizer, the Davoli Davolisint. From what I've read only 500 were ever made. I bought this from the original owner who had it since 1975. He said he kept it in the studio its entire life. It has some scrapes and scuffs but it does work all the keys work as they should and make sounds and the organ buttons work as well... I'm not sure if it's just too subtle to tell but the first vibrato might not be functioning. I'm hoping to find a good home for this with somebody that can take care of it. You won't see too many of these in the future. It has a rich fat analog sound and It sounds like something Jack white or flogging Molly might throw into one of their songs."
