Published on Sep 20, 2018 DrummingEvil

"I demonstrate and talk a lot about my latest creation. Webpage coming soon!

Symphonique 1 is my very first analog string synth design and build, was quite a challenging project with quite a few hurdles along the way. But I managed to turn it into quite the nice sound maker."

Dradique - DIY Casio CZ inspired synthesizer - Demonstration

Published on Aug 31, 2018 DrummingEvil

"Lovely, lovely Casio CZ phase distortion running on an Arduino Due. I'm loving it. Details, code and schematics coming soon on http://www.evilturtle.nl

I've done quite extensive research into the inner workings of the Casio CZ series synthesizers and found out there are quite a few oddities that make those synths sound like they do. I've incorporated all these little details in Dradique, while also adding my own twist to things. All in all I'm very satisfied with the results, though there are some minor bugs still."

Dradique V2 - Arduino Analog DCO and VCF test

Published on Jun 28, 2018 DrummingEvil

"Test of a prototype voice circuit for the new version of Dradique. I've decided to turn it into a digitally-controlled analog synthesizer, not unlike a Roland Juno, but of course with my own seasoning :)

The arduino generates a pulse in the frequency of the note being played, this is converted to an analog sawtooth, PWM and sub-octave square wave. These 3 waveforms can be mixed together and then to through the analog VCF. All CV's are generated by the Arduino as well."

DIY Analog Drum Machine - Drumique - TEASER

Published on May 12, 2018 DrummingEvil

"Finished it just now, though it is missing some extra details such as MIDI functionality. My camera' microphone doesn't do justice to the low-end of this thing, it has a very deep and full kick :)

Oh and my FM Drone Synth plays along too."

DIY Synth Jam #1 - SQK01 Arduino FM synth and Yamaha PSS-570

Published on Oct 31, 2017 DrummingEvil

"I was hacking together a little setup next to my desk, to see if something like it would be comfortable for synth recordings. Figured I might as well record a little improvisation :D

I used my SQK-01 prototype FM synthesizer and the Yamaha PSS-570, each routed through a Digitech RP80 FX pedal. I wanted to solely use my own creations, however the green synth (Dradique) you see isn't finished yet and both of my synths don't have any sequencing or rhythm sections yet. So I opted for the Yamaha to lay down the basic beat and sequencing."

the SQK-01 - Arduino digital/analog FM synthesizer - Part 2

Published on Sep 30, 2017 DrummingEvil

"Now that the digital and analog sections of the synthesizer are complete I show off some of the things it can do.

CrazyRhythm: http://evilturtle.nl/store/plugins/crazyrhythm.html

I forgot to re-tune the thing before recording (it was still using the old samplerate tuning words) so it is not tuned to A = 440Hz, but otherwise it is of course IN tune so no difference there :P"
