Therevox Ondes VCO + Hakken Continuumini

video upload by John Schussler

"My uCVC module has arrived from Evaton Tech. It's a CV converter that takes the USB output of the Hakken Audio Continuumini (little sibling to the Hakken Continuum keyboard) and breaks it into usable CV outputs.

I got it specifically to use with the Ondes VCO, because the original Ondes Martenot after which the Ondes VCO is modelled used a...well what to me appears to be a ring on a string. So a continuous pitch movement rather than quantized by keys. I already had the Continuumini, so figured it should be a perfect match.

This is me running through the various voices on the Ondes VCO and different pitch ranges on the Continuumini to see what we get.

For a sequencer-based demo, see my earlier video on the Ondes VCO:"

Ondes VCO from Therevox - Ondes Martenot in Eurorack format

video upload by

"This is a first look at the Ondes VCO. It just arrived, and I'm so pleasantly surprised by the sound that I figured I'd put a quick video up so others can hear it as well.

It's not a 'standard' VCO. Based on the Ondes Martenot, each of its voices are, on the one hand, traditional (sine, square, triangle), and on the other specifically treated to give a sound that's unique. And because it allows for onboard mixing of waves, all sorts of variety is possible.

I'll dig in deeper later, but for now, have a listen to some of the very particular voices that come out of this module.

New Evaton Technologies AModulator - Time Lapse Build

video upload by fiN Studios

You can find build pics and a full write-up at https://finstudios.com/evaton-technologies-amodulator-diy-build/.

And the AModulator kit on Evaton's website here: https://www.evatontechnologies.com/amodulator.

Video description:

"The Evaton Technologies AModulator SDIY kit is a companion module to the RF Nomad voltage-controlled shortwave receiver. Available ONLY in DIY form, the AModulator is a crude RF amplitude modulator that produces a micro power radio-frequency signal which the RF Nomad can decode.

Simply put, the AModulator allows you to encode any audio signal into an amplitude modulated RF signal, which the RF Nomad can then decode back to audio, with all the delicious artifacts of vintage shortwave sound. Because the RF Nomad is a single sideband decoder, the decoded audio can also be frequency-shifted, simply by tuning slightly off-frequency.

Check out our latest time lapse build video and if you would like to learn more about the Evaton AModulator module, head on over to https://finstudios.com for more details.

Featured Music by: TÆT
Track: Arachnoid (permission granted)
Album: Selection 1"

via Evaton Technologies

"The AModulator ships as two printed circuit boards: One is the electronics, and the other serves as both the faceplate and touchplate emitter. You can "play" the AModulator by pressing on the touch area to affect the signal."

Haken Continuum / EaganMatrix: Using the ContinuuMini as a W,X,Y,Z Eurorack CV Controller

video by EaganMatrix Programming

"Demonstrating one of an almost infinite ways to use a ContinuuMini with Evaton Technologies uCVC as a four degree of freedom (WXYZ) controller for Eurorack systems (though it could be used this way with any system that uses CV input to manipulate sound parameters). Here the Mini primarily controls a TiNRS Tuesday Sequencer and Rabid Elephant Natural Gate that are really 'running the show' (not ContinuuMini pitch and envelope control). EaganMatrix CVC programming is used to impart a much more complex CV interaction that would be possible with a traditional XY CV (for example joystick) controller. Note with only a ContinuuMini and a uCVC, you will ideally want to set your preset Polyphony 1 to avoid discontinuities when playing polyphonically which is not the intent here but you might do it without realizing it (not using ContinuuMIni audio output at all here)."

RF Nomad Demo [Episode 182]

Published on Sep 17, 2019 CatSynth TV

"We explore the RF Nomad module from Evaton Technologies. The RF Nomad generates sound from shortwave radio input. There is no filtering or locking on the incoming shortwave radio signal, so there is a lot of noise, heterodynes and other elements along with the occasional actual station. The real fun comes when you use the CV in to modulate the tuning, even at audio rate.

For more information, please visit https://www.evatontechnologies.com/rf...

0:15 Basic Operation
1:37 Modulating the CV input for tuning from an E350 Morphing Terrarium oscillator
2:22 Running the output of the modulated EF Nomad through the Strymon Magneto tape delay for noise eerie effects

"The RF Nomad adds the squealy, squelchy, noisy, unpredictable vintage sounds of shortwave radio to your modular. But this is no ordinary shortwave; it's been designed to be extra noisy, extra squealy, extra gritty, and just downright nasty. No built-in output filtering means that a rich spectrum of harmonic content is available on the audio output jack. Audio levels can be driven to distortion. CV control lets you add your own creative spin on sound design."

"The RF Nomad brings sideband shortwave radio into Eurorack! This module is a great noise source and strange audio generator. There are tends to be dead spots but once you find something it is almost always interesting and can reach really far! This module is in great shape with just some rack rash and includes a short antenna. It is advised to find the longest antenna possible for the best results!"

Shortwave eurorack techno drone with RF Nomad

Published on Dec 6, 2018 While We Were Sleeping

"Using the eurorack RF Nomad by Evaton Technologies a Shortwave Eurorack Receiver, to spice up a techno/drone Jam,
This was recorded a while back (facebook live) and was one of my first jams with the Malekko Heavy Industry voltage block. I got stuck on a single channel single step because that was as much fun as I could handle at the time :) The voltage block is controlling the Fonitronik Thomas Henry 555 VCO with no filter or vca, just raw oscillator goodness.
Both the RF Nomad and the TH 555 are DIY builds from Thonk

New Evaton Technologies Link - Eurorack HDMI CV Module & Sneak Peak of Upcoming "Sonar" Module

Evaton Link Module 2-up Jam w/Morgantics Published on Apr 19, 2018 Russ Hoffman

"Morgantics stopped by to jam out on a pair of synths connected together with the new Link module coming soon from Evaton Technologies."

via Evaton Technologies:

"Link is a 4HP Eurorack synth module that enables connecting up to 18 CV/audio signals between two Eurorack cases over a single standard HDMI cable. Link is a 100% passive module, and allows signals to travel in either direction.

10 mono jacks and 14 stereo jacks combine into a single HDMI connection to another Link module in either a second Eurorack case, or simply to another place in the same case, for convenience.

The top 4 jacks are stereo, but those can each be broken out into two mono signals with an optional breakout cable, enabling up to 18 CV/audio signals to be easily connected to another synth, in just 4HP of front panel space.

Above is a quick video showing how the Link module can be used to allow a friend to stop by and you can hook your Eurorack synths together for a fun night of jamming! (There's also a sneak peek at the upcoming Evaton Technologies "Sonar" module in the video, too...)

A 5U version is also planned, which will allow easy connection between 5U and Eurorack systems, as well as within a large 5U system.

Link will be available Summer of 2018, and a pre-production prototype will be on display at Superbooth 2018.

http://www.evatontechnologies.com/link

Sonar, a module which generates CV and clocks based on ultrasonic rangefinding measurements, will be available later this year, and will also be on display as a prototype at Superbooth18. Sonar is still in development; look for an official announcement with full list of features soon."
