video upload by Cherry Audio

"In celebration of the 2023 holiday season and Cherry Audio's fifth year, we've released the FREE Synthesizer Expander Module, a virtual instrument plugin based on a classic 1974 analog synthesizer.

Get it today! https://cherryaudio.com/santa

Synthesizer Expander Module is Cherry Audio's free emulation of the classic self‑contained synthesizer module of the same name. Though it was a simple, barebones monosynth, the Synthesizer Expander Module possessed a unique tone quality, courtesy of its 12 dB/oct state-variable filter. With lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and notch modes, this flexible filter was the star of the show. We've precisely recreated it here with a filter section and Phasor effect programmed by award-winning synth designer Mark Barton (MRB).

The plugin is available immediately from Cherry Audio at cherryaudio.com/santa.

Synthesizer Expander Module is Cherry Audio's free emulation of the classic Oberheim® self‑contained synthesizer module of the same name. We've precisely recreated it with a filter section and Phasor effect programmed by award-winning synth designer Mark Barton (MRB).

Synthesizer Expander Module joins other free virtual instruments from Cherry Audio, such as the popular Surrealistic MG-1 Plus and the highly acclaimed Voltage Modular Nucleus virtual modular platform. As it celebrates its fifth anniversary in the desktop music production space, Cherry Audio is concluding an astoundingly successful year with this holiday gift to all musicians.

Despite being a free plugin, Synthesizer Expander Module is fully featured. It will delight both vintage synth fans and today's music producers. Synthesizer Expander Module features include:
Ultra-accurate dual oscillators

Complete MIDI control and DAW automation for all controls, with easy-to-use MIDI learn and mapping (Preset and Global)
Highly optimized DSP for optimal performance
User-adjustable oversampling control
Did we mention totally free?

BFX24 is released is released on the occasion of the G-Sonique's 15th anniversary

”It seems unbelievable to us, but 15 years have passed since we released our first product. This time passed incredibly quickly. Although this job is very demanding, in an oversaturated market full of piracy and sometimes we have to work 12 hours a day, we still love it. Creating new algorithms, new sounds, new types of synthesis brings us great joy. Since we released our first product, which became very popular in the psytrance community, our small company has been discovered by many stars who use our products, for example: Black Sun Empire from Blackout music NL, Vinai from Spinnin records, Penta, Bizzare contact, Zardonic from Owsla, Vinicius Honorio from Drumcode, Dark Nebula, Drunken Kong, Teddy Killerz from Ram records, Swede of 808 mafia (producer of Lil Wayne, Dj Khaled, Gucci Mane, Farruko), Audio Anthem (Grammy award winning producer) and many others. We are still a small independent company consisting of only 3 core people, for whom it is a priority to bring products that advance the possibilities of sound and production. We thank all customers who support us and the further development of new products. As a special thanks to the community, we have prepared a FREE VST plug-in!”

Meng Qi - Ping Garden

video by Meng Qi

"New Year Gift : Ping Garden Software Instrument

Happy Chinese New Year! We wish you a great fruitful 2021. Here is a gift from us, it's called Ping Garden, a software instrument utilizing Mac multitouch pad as playing interface. It uses filter pinging and FM for sound synthesis.

When I was working on Wing Pinger in last year's CNY, factories were closed during the holiday, so I learned a bit of SuperCollider to kill time. That's how Ping Garden was born.

Ping Garden makes rain falling sounds with gestural control density. Here is a small video of me playing it. Hope you enjoy.

Free RC-808 “Re-Create the 808” Plug-In Now Available for Windows and Mac

The RC-808 “Re-Create the 808” Windows and Mac VST/AU plug-in, from the creators of the original Roland x0x series mentioned in this post, is now available for download at https://rc-808.com/download/.

Some details from the page for the archives:

"The RC-808 “Re-Create the 808” emulates the original TR-808 sound with analog manner synthesis. As the name implies, it is with respect to the original 808 sounds which is a criterion for sound synthesis as a vintage. Starting from this criterion, explore the multiverse of sounds, stretch out your vectors, to find out new criterion of your own. Yes, it can take you to the new sonic worlds that are completely different and yet so close and familiar to you.

Hence it is not a drum machine but is a drum synthesizer. No samples nor effects processing are being used, just genuine synthesis only, all in analog manner.

The sound source employs DCO which is in this case Down Chirp Oscillator, combined with a noise source that outputs various kinds of noises including metallic noises. There is also a infinite point wave shaper, a variable filter bank, infinite point envelope generators etc. With maximum 8 partials per voice, it allows sound designing in subtractive synthesis manner which is familiar to all, and yet still with vast outer space beckoning to be discovered.

Thanks to this flexible architecture, all instruments can have Open and Close variations just like Hi-Hats or cymbal choke performance. Coupled with piano-roll sequencer utility this brings new expressions with gate time programming, that you don’t see on a drum sequencer.

However, please note that this is a conceptual model.
We fully understand that, although we continue developing and updating this conceptual offspring of ours, it is still in its very preliminary phase, and thus is full of bugs. Then why we are releasing it globally? Because it is our hope to spread our original intention on making the TR-808 to everybody in the world, to be shared by everybody in the world, and have our memes to be passed on through ages to come. Even if it is not perfect yet, the essence of our spirit will expand its horizon and will exist ubiquitously throughout this planet.

Therefore, please note that because the RC-808 “Re-Create the 808” is merely a conceptual model to show the originally intended architecture of the TR-808, it is not fully developed as an instrument for actual usage. We do not bear any responsibility for any possible inconvenience or damages caused by this. We cannot answer to any inquiries for this product as well.

Finally, please allow us to mention that we are independent from Roland Corporation, and therefore they also cannot answer to any inquiries.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding on above all. Thank you again, indeed."

Free RMIF Elsita emulation + sample pack

"My emulation of the RMIF Elsita, a vintage drum machine from USSR :)
Also provided with a sample pack from the original machine!"

Amazing USSR Analog Drums: RMIF Elsita

Published on Sep 12, 2019 [ጠσσǥǥሃ]

"Sounds like a Simmons Drums for 10x less money :D
Straight from USSR, the RMIF Elsita is a 4 chanels analog drum rack.
It can be triggered with external sources... Like separated-outputs drums 8)"

"The Elsita is a soviet analog machine produced from 1989 until 1991, when RMIF went bankrupt. Although being released in a pretty late period, the Elsita was built following old standards from the mid 70’s/early 80’s : fully analog (as you can see on the picture), trigger-only, with big knobs.

The Elsita has 4 channels, which are not perfectly identical, at least on my model. It sounds more like a A/B/A/B disposition (As the colors suggest actually), but they all have the same parameters. Check the oscilloscope snapshot at the back of the page!

With the emulation I added a folder containing various sounds I made with the original machine, so that you can play with original sounds, or with more versatile, clean sounds from my VST :)"

Cescato Musiktechnologie Gives Away "T-C-M Quarantine Sound Banks Collection"

via Wally Cescato

"Due to these difficult times of staying at home, Wally Cescato gives away a collection of 640 patches for the 'Trans Computer Maschine' VST Instrument that gathered throughout a long time. They are intended for normal keyboard playing, without using the sequencer section and most of them use just two oscillators. That's because they date back to the time before the 'T-C-M', when the project was still just an emulation of the ARP Odyssey. The sounds are nameless and simply numbered in no specific order, and of course, it is expressly allowed to rename them and build other banks to share with others!

The full "640 patches" pack is freely available at the official site.

200+ Free Roland TR-909 Samples

via https://bvker.com

"Since producing my last sample pack “LoFi House” (which is mainly based on sounds from old drum machines and analog synths) was so much fun I couldn’t help but continue working on analog drum sounds. Now I’m giving away some free 909 samples & loops. Click on the button above to get access or scroll down a bit to learn more about the pack:

The TR-909 Rhythm Composer (invented by Tadao Kikumoto) is without any doubt one of the most iconic drum machines ever made. It was first manufactured in 1983 by Roland and had along with the TB-303 synth a huge impact on the development of genres, such as house, acid house or techno.

Whereas its predecessor, the Roland TR-808 is rather known for a clean sound and a long sub bass, the 909 comes with a punchy and saturated drum sound.

The drum machine is most famous for its dirty kick drum and open hat which is usually placed between the kick hits. Furthermore, the 909 is known for a shuffle mode, which moves notes slightly off-grid, resulting in a certain “groove”. This groove can additionally be adjusted using the “flam” and “accent” features.

Considering that the 909 was a milestone in the history of dance music (although it financially flopped) it’s clear that you can find its sounds in countless records.

From today’s perspective the 909 sound is rather old school, so I decided to adapt my free 909 samples to the requirements of current productions using a variety of modern processing tools.

I made sure, however, to also include some rather lo-fi or old sounding samples, some of which are strongly saturated, so you can use the kit for a variety of different styles.

In addition to the one shots I also made 20 drum loops, that I stemmed out in different groups resulting in a total of 100 TR-909 loops."

via @WeAreNovation

"For those able to stay home during these challenging times, we want to help make it as easy as possible for you to stay creative. For a Sound Collective special, we’ve partnered up with @audiothing to bring you the SR-88 plug-in for free until 27.04.20 >>> bit.ly/SC-AudioThing"

"Stay safe and stay creative: free analogue drum machine plug-in for Novation Sound Collective members
For those who are in the position to be staying at home during these challenging times, we want to help make it as easy as possible for you to stay creative. So, for a one-off Sound Collective special, we’ve partnered up with AudioThing to bring you the SR-88 plug-in for free as a limited-time giveaway for all members.

AudioThing’s SR-88 is a sample-based plug-in emulation of the Sound Master Memory Rhythm SR-88, a rare analogue drum machine from the ’80s. The instrument features five classic analogue sounds: kick, snare, hi hat 1, hi hat 2, and cymbal, which can be pitched, panned or mixed independently. You can shape the sound with the low-pass filter (zero delay feedback), overdrive, compressor and reverb.

The sequencer lets you easily build patterns, then flip each track’s sequence using the ‘random’ function. The result is limitless combinations and unusual patterns, which bring new creative aspects to your songs. Sequences can be dragged and dropped to your DAW/host, making it easy to build ideas quickly. AudioThing SR-88 is compatible with Mac and PC, in AU, VST2, VST3 and 64-bit AAX formats.

To join Sound Collective, simply register any Novation hardware product, then look out for a new offer every couple of months. No one else works with software manufacturers like we do to bring you inspirational tools for your next production. Find out more here.

The AudioThing SR-88 offer expires on April 27th 2020, and is running in addition to the Serato Sample LE plug-in already available as part of Sound Collective."
