Million Machine March Poses the Question: Will Moog Release a Complete Eurorack Modular System?

Million Machine March poses the question of whether Moog Music will come out with a complete eurorack modular system. Click through for the full post. You might recall Million Machine March (previously Ninstrument) has been porting Moog's Moogerfoogers to eurorack for some time now.

Pictured: "Here we show the Eurorack converted Moog MoogerFoogers, MF-101, 102, 103, 105, 107, and 108. A Moog Minitaur Bass Synth, and a Moog Werkstatt synth. A Circuit Abbey Unify mixer with expander. A 2HP mult and two Div 6 16 step sequencers to round out the system’s functionality. All of this housed in a custom 9U Goike case."

Ninstrument Transitions to Million Machine March w/ Eurorack Converted MoogerFoogers

Ninstrument wrote in to let us know they are transitioning beyond chiptune oriented products and will be doing so under a new moniker as Million Machine March. In the same spirit as their Ninstrument conversions of classic gear into the eurorack format, their first products will be converting MoogerFooger's to the format. Via Million Machine March:

"I was really hoping that Moog would have been putting out more eurorack modules in this last year. Maybe this will inspire them! Here I am converting over their MoogerFooger guitar pedals to eurorack. Since Moog has picked a eurorack aesthetic, with the Mother 32 module, it was a ‘no brainer’ to make these follow suit. I am working on the rest of them so stay tuned for more!"

New Eventide Space Eurorack Module by Ninstrument

Published on Feb 5, 2017 Ninstrument.com

via Ninstrument

"Taking my favorite pedal and converting it over to euro has to be one of the more difficult tasks I have accomplished to date. Something that is as well designed as this Space pedal is, I had to bring all my skill sets in order to really add what I believe is the next level. If you are familiar with this pedal then I don't have to tell you that it is already great on its own. But the little CV demon in me would not rest as it was always asking, "what if you could control all of those knobs with CV?" This has been an ongoing effort for a year or more now, and I finally can say I am happy with how it has turned out! Pricing and availability to be announced."

Dual Division 6 Business Card Sequencer & Barton BMC45 Router Eurorack Modules by Ninstrument

Two new custom modules via Ninstrument:

"Business Card sized Sequencer from Div 6. Here I took two of them and stacked them into a eurorack module. Realize when you buy the kit it is just ONE sequencer. I bought two for this custom build. This kit was very easy to build and dare I say the most ‘inexpensive sequencer you will find!’ Realize the custom euro panel I made for this was a very difficult task. There are 122 holes in this panel and was very challenging to make."

How cool is that? You might remember the DIY Division 6 business card sequencer from this post.

"BMC45 router from Barton. This is a fun straight forward build. Most of Barton’s eurorack DIY kits are very affordable and very well thought through and as a plus are very affordable. I added four custom mute buttons to this one as I thought that made a nice addition to live performance. The link to that kit is here."

CV Controlled Avid Eleven by Ninstrument

Not technically a synth, but rather a guitar modeling effects unit, this Avid Eleven has been modified for CV control by Ninstrument. A demo video should be coming soon.

Gorgeous custom front panel!

"Digging deeper into CV control for Guitarists, and I am not finding too much. So I decided on a custom CV controlled Avid Eleven would make a great Christmas gift this year. CV input with added attenuator for each of the six parameter knobs. If you know much about the Eleven, you know the front six knobs allow you to change the onscreen parameters. Now you can control them with voltages from your modular synth. I also added a CV input for the tap tempo control, so you can control the tempo with a voltage clock. This also means you could setup six pedals and control all six knobs with pedals too, if you wanted!"

"He say you Braidrunna!"

Published on Nov 12, 2016 Ninstrument.com

"Why is it every time I watch that movie I can't seem to get it out of my head for days? That background atmosphere just seems to bounce around in my skull as if I was in a constant trance. Seemed the only way to get it out of my head was to give it a go with some eurorack modules.

Modules used:

Mi Elements run through a Grendel Formant filter modulated by bubblesound uLFO. E350 Morphing Terrarium run through Korg MKP2s set on tape Echo. Speak & Read run through a ZDSP with Halls of Valhalla cart. The over all pumping sound is a MI Braids with a AD Sequencer 1 controlling pitch. The Sequencer 1 also controls pitch of e350 and the Elements."

Ninstrument ‘SUPER’ Eurorack Modules - QCDG8, UTILITA, & COMPRESSWITCH

via Ninstrument

"Continuing in the same thread of combining eurorack modules together, here are a couple more examples. First is the QCDG8. I took a 4MS QCD and expander and smashed a Circuit Abbey G8 right in between. I also added much needed bufferred mults to the outputs of the QCD and expander. This has a nice flow with all of the jacks down the middle of the panel.

"Next is the UTILITA. Where do all of those clock outputs from the above QCDG8 go? This modules combines a Doepfer A-150, a Blue Lantern CMOS Party, 3 NE Sinclastic Empulatrix and a MI Branches. By combining them into one panel I can ‘normal’ some of the inputs making it much easier and quicker to patch. I also solidify my workflow. Remember ‘Familiarity’ breeds content. The more you get used to something the more it will seem like second nature."

"And last but not least is the COMPRESSWITCH. Here I take two Compressors from WMD and a Pittsburgh Switch and make them into one bad ass switchable compressor. This gets used in every patch I make.

As you gain experience with your modular synthesizer, you will start to see you will regularly patch your modules the same way most of the time. Once you establish the workflow you use most often, it makes sense to combine modules together into ‘SUPER’ modules if you will. You will obviously have your own ideas what you would make into a SUPER module, but that is the point. You are starting to think of your modular as your custom instrument and less like test equipment. Don’t be afraid of learning about what is behind the panel. It can be just as much fun as what is in front of the panel!"

Ninstrument TRISPECTRUM Prototype Eurorack Module Based on Three WMD/SSF Spectrum OSCs

via Ninstrument where you'll find additional pics and details.

"I mentioned the TRISPECTRUM in the last video I published below. The start of that voyage was getting and using just one Spectrum OSC from WMD & SSF. Once I had a chance to really put that OSC thru its paces, I have to admit I really fell in love with it. Those guys nailed it as far as I was concerned. The more I used it, I thought, “this would be even better if I could stack three of them together”. Having the ability to sync all three and individually pull each one in and out of sync would be cool. Waveform switching like on the Mini Moog and mutes and attenuators made sense from a performance aspect as well.

The Ideas came hard and fast. Before you knew it I had my first prototype. Pictured here."

SYNTHBOY+ Special Edition From Ninstrument

Published on Jun 28, 2016 Ninstrument.com

"SKIP TO 3:15 for audio demo only!"

via Ninstrument

The CLOCK OUT modification is the newest feature of the Synthboy+. This is included with our Special Edition model. The CLOCK OUT is a voltage out that can be used directly with most modular synthesizers. This clock out can be modified on the fly using the bottom two knobs on the front of the base station. This is used directly with LSDJ. Please watch the video for more details of use.

Our BIG BONUS is the included heavily modified Gameboy Color. Over the last few years I have grown to really appreciate the reliability and speed the Gameboy Color provides. I truly believe it is the best tool to use with LSDJ. The original Gameboy Color did need a couple of modifications in order to bring it into the Synthboy+ line. First we added a front light SP mod, which essentially takes the front light out of a Gameboy SP, cut it to size and fit it which allows a overall brighter screen for daily use.

The real challenge was to find a way to add the 9 pin din connector. We ended up custom molding a new bottom using Polyester resin. Between the nylon DB9 connector and polyester resin molding you can expect durable use over the years."

A New Look for Audio Damage's Sequencer 1 by Ninstrument

via Ninstrument

"This is one of the best Sequencers in euro today. I really love the repeats and ratchets, but I sometimes screw up the timing when pressing the buttons manually to activate them. I decided to add the feature to the hardware and also give it a new look in black face. Almost looks a little Elektron like don’t you think? If you are interested in finding out more info on this sequencer, please check out the manufacturer’s product page here."

Custom Black Panel for Tiptop Audio Z-DSP & Card Holders from Ninstrument

via Ninstrument

"Seems more cards are getting released these days so I thought since they seem to be all black and I am seeing more demand for black panels that it would only make sense to make a dedicated black panel with a double card holder. I have the kits available now."

New Ninstruments Star Wars Tractor Beam 12 Eurorack Module, May the Force be With You!

via Ninstrument

"It’s not every year we get a new Star Wars movie and considering how much the first ones influenced me I had to do something to show my appreciation. I borrowed the electronics from the ‘Sounds of Star Wars’ book and added a backlight to the LCD screen and CV controls for the buttons. So, every time I want to feel like a kid I can patch away!

Includes 256 sounds from the first six movies. Plenty for me to get the FORCE on:)"

See it in the video just posted below (here).

Ninstrument Introduces New Korg Kaossilator 2s Eurorack Module

via Ninstrument

"If you know how much I like the Korg MKP2s then you would think it just would be a matter of time before I would get around to euromodding a Kaossilator! I honestly do not know what took me soooo long. I guess I thought I would not need a dedicated phrase synth in my eurorack. But after playing with it for only a few minutes I found the acoustic instruments very pleasing and flexible to use. I thought having CV control over the play function would be great and keeping it fairly small at 20HP would work too."

World's Smallest Drum Module? Ninstrument's Dr.Rhythm DR-55 1U Tile Drum Machine

via Ninstrument

"Might just be one of the smallest drum machines on the planet! Continuing along in our early drum machines theme is the Dr.Rhythm DR-55. This is based on the D-4 chip from Jan Ostman. More info on his chip is located here

If you are a eurorack modular enthusiast and have run out of 3U room, this tile makes it easier than ever to add some old school percussion to your rack. These will be available through our indiegogo campaign. Please help support us here"

Ninstrument Introduces the Rhythm TR-727 Eurorack Module

via Ninstrument

"Do you remember some of the cool unusual drum machines from the 80’s? The TR-727 was one of the unusual ones as it featured primarily Latin percussion sounds like Bongo’s and Maracas. Jan Ostman has made a recreation of those sounds and built them into a chip. More info here.

I designed a 10HP eurorack module that accepts his chips and tried to bring back a little aesthetic flair from the design of those early drum machines. We currently have a Indiegogo campaign that will be ending shortly. If you would like to receive one of these and support us to keep going down the vintage drum path please pledge here: http://igg.me/at/drumulator

I will be making a video demo shortly for this, so expect an update soon."

Ninstrument & DSP Synthesizers Sp-12 Drumulator Euromodule Seeks Funding on Indiegogo

You might remember the Ninstrument & DSP Synthesizers Sp-12 Drumulator eurorack module featured here. It's now on Indiegogo.

Details:

"A Blast from the past

Do you long for those great 80's drumsounds?
Want to include them in your eurorack setup?

Wait no more.
We put the SP-12 Drumulator into a eurorack module.

This is a joint venture between DSP Synthesizers in Sweden and Ninstrument.com in the US to put the great 8-bit u-law companding sounds on the map again.

The SP-12 euromodule gives you 8 trig-able polyphonic drumsounds, 6 of them tune-able with CV input in a 10HP euromodule.

It also got a 6dB Accent input and a mix audio output.

The sounds can be tuned into disintegration for some really gritty sounds.
All in a retro style powder coated 10HP aluminum panel.

Also available as a DIY assembly kit.

Larger scale manufacturing

We have done these in smaller runs with great success and now want to manufacture it on a larger scale.

The funding will go to manufacturing of a first run of 50 units.
Also into R&D for our next unit, The Latin Percussion T727 module.

Manufacturing 50 units means sourcing alot of parts, design and ordering PCB's etc. A large venture.

But can be realized with your help.

So let's get down to making some modules."

Ninstrument SP-12/Drumulator Eurorack Module

Published on Oct 19, 2015 Ninstrument.com

"Do you miss a few of the drum machines from the 80's? Well, even if you don't, how nice is it to get 8 percussion sounds from 10HP?"

via Ninstrument

"Jan over at DSP Synthesizers has created an emulation of the classic SP-12 and Drumulator from E-mu Systems and put it on a single chip. His original project is located here

Seeing this made me long for the older 80’s drum machines and I knew it would also be nice if I could get this into my eurorack using the least amount of space(HP) as possible. Well, getting 8 vintage percussion sounds into 10HP works for me!"
