Modular Workshop at STRØM Copenhagen, Friday August 16

via http://www.stromcph.dk/friday/

"For this workshop we are going old school to explore the analog world, plunging into modular synthesis and general hardware equipment for studio and live usage. Taking a step away from the computer as our main tool – the digital audio workstation (DAW) – towards buttons, knobs patch cables and faders. Modular synths and hardware gear has gained recent attention, with modern musicians showing interest in the hardware realm of music making; when making music was not relying on CPU speed and hard drive space, but on how badass your rig of analog circuit boards and synthesizers was and how many meters of cable you had. Another thing is how you utilize your rig, but that is a different story which you can learn more about throughout the week at the Strøm School. Paul Barker – modular synthesizer and hardware guru as well as founder of DinSync.info which makes modern clones of the good old TB-303, (among other things) – will explain the reason for this while showing some of the pros and cons of utilizing analog hardware to make electronic music. After the workshop, it will be possible to try out the gear that Paul brings along, getting a chance to patch your very first modular synthesizer.

No signup is required, no prior knowledge to modular synthesizers is required and the event is for free."
