SoundMiT 2018 Announces First Exhibitors

The following is a list of the first exhibitors coming to SoundMiT - International Sound Summit. The second edition of SoundMiT will be held on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 November 2018, at the Teatro "Lavanderia a Vapore" - Corso Pastrengo 51 Collegno (Turin).
You can click through the links below for additional details on each.

"For the first time in Italy, Schmidt Synthesizers!

Soundmit exclusive, for the first time in Italy the famous no-compromise analog eight-voice polyphonic Schmidt-Synthesizer!

After selling more than 50 units of this exclusive instrument and just starting the production of the third batch of 25 new ones, german manufacturer e:m:c will show the Schmidt-Synthesizer for the first time at Soundmit - International Sound Summit in Torino, 3-4 November 2018.

"We are very excited to show the Schmidt at Soundmit in Italy" says Product Manager Axel Fischer. "Italy is one of the leading countries in electronic music and has a long history of very successful electronic instruments. We are looking forward in meeting the Italian synthesizer scene on location."

Schmidt, one of the most coveted modern analog synthesizers, comes to Italy with his eight-voice polyphony with unison and true multitimbrality mode.
Full MIDI implementation with a USB port and complete programmability. The signal path is fully analog with precise digital control. Schmidt´s sound generation engine features virtually everything that subtractive synthesis is endowed with – and even more: Schmidt gives you truly unique features that have never been implemented in an analog synthesizer before, not to speak of polyphonic units! Think of Multi-PWM and Multi-Ring Modulation.

Every single parameter – even for the most complex modulation routings you might envisage – can be accessed directly using dedicated front panel controls and switches. No more browsing through mind-boggling and confusing menus.

Thanks to programmable high-quality real-time controls (pitch and modulation wheel, stick controller, and aftertouch, as well as several inputs for footswitches and expression pedals), Schmidt has become a real performance synthesizer that feels as good as it sounds.

Schmidt is made to match the highest production standards – it has entirely been hand-crafted in Germany. The casing, made of metal and carefully selected wood, keeping a close eye on environmental sustainability, is as beautiful as it is sturdy and robust.

And we can admire it in November at the Soundmit 2018!"

Keen Association Keen-o-Tron - Chamberlin and Mellotron Desktop Unit w/ Touch Keys

via SOUNDMIT

"We were extremely inspired by Chamberlin/Mellotron idea, sound and topology and couple of years ago started working on the musical instrument we called Keen-o-Tron.

The instrument handles sixteen meticulously selected Chamberlin and Mellotron sounds accurately sampled from the original units. Each key’s signal path consists of special independent digital sound source and optronic audio gate with specific dynamic curve. This fully polyphonic sonic array gets mixed and goes into the timbre control, optronic master gate and high precision pedal-controlled VCA at the final stage. Other highlights include MIDI input, computer USB interface, highly reliable touch keyboard, self-calibration routine, etc. Built with love and by the best Russian military quality traditions :-)"

And the official press release:

"Torino, February 2017

SYNTH MEETING present SOUNDMIT (International Sound Summit)

We are pleased to finally announce the developments of the S YNTHMEETING o f Torino during the last months.
The SYNTHMEETING , which began in 2011 from an idea of F rancesco Mulassano a nd ran till 2016 together with Luca Torasso, will be part of a newest and bigger event.

After the success of the sixth edition which brought over 2 500 visitors and 60 international brands to Torino, we have decided to take a step forward.

In 2016 we set up the Associazione Culturale NOISECOLLECTIVE with the founding members being Francesco Mulassano, Luca Torasso and Luca Minelli ( www.noisecollective.net ) then we enlarged the network with some acquisitions. Are part of NOISECOLLECTIVE :

- SYNTHMEETING , the only event dedicated to the world of synthesizers and electronic musical instruments capable of involving over 2500 people and 60 international brands (data from 2016)
- The Facebook group SYNTH CAFÈ, with more than 14,000 members is a reference point in the field of synthesis and electronic music in Italy, created by L uca Minelli in 2011.
- The music portal ULTRASONICA h as been an online reference point since 2004 for music news and live event photos with an exclusive photographic archive which hosts over 12,000 photos.

- The Facebook group STRUMENTI MUSICALI USATI with 5400 members is among the largest and most active italian groups for buying and selling musical instruments on Facebook.

These acquisitions have immediately incremented the network guaranteeing a group of nearly 22,000 members.
After the closing of the sixth edition of the meeting we immediately started working on creating a new event which inherits the know-how gained through the experience of the SYNTHMEETING and the other events which followed in these months (MOD01, OpenDay, The Golden Synth Era with Felice Manzo, Arduino and Synth with Pier Calderan, Modular Synth Masterclass con Gino Robair).

Modular Synth Masterclass with Gino Robair - 11 January 2017 - Torino Italy

Published on Dec 14, 2016 NOISECOLLECTIVE

"The workshop will examine a number of techniques to use when improvising with modular synthesizers within a large group and it lays the groundwork for a concert the same evening, with the workshop participants.

The workshop will focus on global awareness and listening during an improvisation, while exploring patching strategies for achieving maximum variety and avoiding stagnation. We will also discuss concepts such as foreground/background, solo/support, gestural control, and intention/non-intention.

This would be particularly interesting for modular synth users because the temptation with the instrument is to simply layer sounds. Actively patching, and utilizing concepts such as disruption vs. support can be very helpful for sparking ideas about new ways to approach electronics in an group-improv situation.

Gino uses strategies, concepts, and hand cues (conduction) based on his own work, as well as the work of John Zorn, Butch Morris, ROVA Sax Quartet, Anthony Braxton and Frank Zappa.

The workshop will be held at Mothership Club in Via Schiaparelli 16 - Torino

Thanks to
Synth meeting, Synth cafè, Ultrasonica"

NOISECOLLECTIVE Modular Synth Masterclass Workshop with Gino Robair

NOISECOLLECTIVE is having a modular synth masterclass workshop with Gino Robair. The event will be held at the Mothership club in Turin Italy. You can pick up tickets at NOISECOLLECTIVE here. The following are the details on the event, first in Italian, then English further below.

Verranno presi in esame concetti come primo piano / sottofondo, solista / supporto, controllo gestuale, e intenzione / non-intenzione.

The History of the Torino Synth Meeting

Francesco Mulassano just posted the history of the Torino Synth Meeting on his LinkedIn page. Click through for the full story.

"Back in 2011, i had this idea in mind: - I want to visit one of the synthesizer's event in Europe... But at that time I had no money, I had no time .. what solution?

If I can't go, i can make one in my town!

I discussed this with my friend Luca, with whom since 2008 I organize courses, workshops and concerts here in Torino and we started!"

FRANCESCO MULASSANO
LUCA TORASSO
LUCA MINELLI

The only valid communications regarding the SYNTHMEETING event will come to you, always and only, from these people, and from email addresses of @synthmeeting.com and @noisecollective.net.

Within the Executive Council of the Cultural Association NOISECOLLECTIVE are no commercial activities, companies or their representatives.
