"Not sure why this video is framed like this. Most of what I am doing is happening out of frame, up at the top left, on the STG MooSonics Vanilla filter, mixer, and vca envelope modules. And probably quite a few clues to remembering this patch lie out of frame to the right of the EML 200s. This was shot before the SSL 1660, so my guess is that the LWSS CGS01 sub oscillator module is producing the little sequence—fed envelopes from the EML or LFO from Synthesizers.com."

"Altering the D slider on The Matrix to get different variations: starting at c8 then B12/B14\B12 …
The Matrix to Vanilla Envelope VCA to Low pass in on CGS35. The soft drone towards the end is when Q123 Standards drops a 440Hz A note into the CGS35 band pass in. Flipping the switch to negative on Standards accentuates the tone and the Matrix CV out wavers it all."

"These are 5u Serge circuits by Ken Stone/Catgirl Synth and Elby designs, assembled and paneled by by Lower West Side studios. The Dual Universal Slope Generators are the sound sources going into the STG Soundlabs mixer before heading into the Resonant EQ and '73 Filter. From there the signal is going to a Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo, a Roland DC-50, and an AKG BX-10. With this program I tried to capture what it is like to try to maintain a smile while feeling awful inside. I began with the desire to create something beautiful with the Serge, but the pull towards the experimental is sometimes far too great to resist."

The front panels are all unique and custom made. The panels are based on the 'Loudest Warning' standard.

Panel height is 175mm and 2mm thick, made from anodised aluminium.

A lot of the panels already have hardware fitted, some have loaded PCBs (please see photos).

Everything in the photos is part of the whole auction lot.

Red Waves by Doug Lynner

"'Red Waves' is comprised of two groups of pieces, WAD: Trio for Richard Driskell, and, 5 Solos for Simple Slopes.

Though they were recorded about two years apart and did not share the same compositional intents, both pieces share something important about them; they both intentionally use a small module compliment, a panel or less worth, and use the same patch for each of their segments.

In the case of WAD: Trio for Richard Driskell these “limitations” were used to highlight my interactions with a particular module, the Wilson Analog Delay (WAD).

In the case of 5 Solos for Simple Slopes the limitations were imposed to make the point that creativity and musicality can flourish on a small system and indeed can be enhanced by the experience, especially if you have a large system that you have established a workflow for.

For me, the 'Small Modular Aesthetic,' the term I use for this part of my work, is a healthy change-up that I find refreshing and immediate. To use only a single simple patch for multiple pieces extends this even further by necessitating a deeper exploration to find multiple unique voices from it.

For me music made in this way is raw and responsive and relates directly to the real situation for many new synthesists. I hope that Red Waves represents that.

One other thing that all of the pieces on Red Waves have in common is a video recording of each of the 8 performance. The videos of WAD: Trio for Richard Driskell have already been published and can be found on my Youtube channel. I have one of the videos for 5 Solos for Simple Slopes ready and will complete the others in the coming week. Keep an eye out for them!

The M142 features 2 Logic Blocks in a single 1MU wide module.

Each block provides of 6 simultaneous logic outputs from only 2 inputs

INVERTER: Apply Low Gate = High (Gate ON) output and vice versa
OR: HIGH when one or both inputs are HIGH
AND: HIGH when both inputs are HIGH
XOR (Exclusive OR): HIGH when only one input is HIGH
XNOR (Exclusive NOR): Logical compliment of Exclusive OR
Visual feedback if provided through a series of LEDs allowing you to visualize the effects of your patches before actually making them.

"The Synton modules were expertly rebuilt and all the pots are a year old. The CGS Serge, Jurgen Haible Frequency shifter modules and Blacet were built and re-paneled by the same engineer who worked on the Synton 3000 only 6 months ago. It really does sounds great. If I were to keep it I would replace the PS with a nice linear supply but works fine as-is.
