The Zorlon Cannon | Dark Atari 2600 Tone Generation | The Harvestman | IME

video upload by Nostalgic Ruckus

"This module is pretty special. To give an idea of what is going on I tried to make it simple. In all of these patches the top mixer is the sound and the bottom mixer is the gates. The bottom mixer is firing gates that are triggering all four envelopes separately as an envelope or in burst mode on Quadrax. The top mixer outs are going into vcas. That is where the sound is coming from. There are four sounds in total coming from the mixer. When I say mixers I am talking about the outputs on the Zorlon Cannon. Quadrax is then modulating the vcas. Something to note. Quadrax when in burst mode (yellow lights) till the cycle ends it will block any of the gates incoming from the Zorlon Cannon till it ends its cycle. Think of it like a ping pong ball bouncing. It will not accept gates from the Zorlon Cannon till the final 'bounce'. This is why at first it may look like some of the gates are not matching up with the envelopes.

Probably the most fun I have had in modular in awhile. Up there with Mito and Dial up from Moffenzeef Modular as far as the fun factor."

Make Noise Retires the Shared System

Tony Talks Shared System | Make Noise video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"As we begin to ship the final production run of the Black & Gold Shared System Plus, Tony sits down to reminisce on its origins and history, and also to answer your Shared System questions from our various social media channels!

Three of the five Shared System Series artists host the records digitally on their Bandcamp pages:

https://richarddevine.bandcamp.com/al...
https://cortini.bandcamp.com/album/ma...
https://surachai.bandcamp.com/album/m...

https://www.makenoisemusic.com/synthe..."

Update:

Press release follows, including a pic of the original Shared System followed by the black and gold.

"After more than a decade of production, the Shared System is being retired, with its final run currently shipping to dealers worldwide.

The Shared System was originally designed in 2012 as a self-contained instrument which was mailed to artists to create music for the Shared System series of 7” records on Make Noise Records. The Shared System was then officially released after the records later in 2012, updated in 2015 as the Black & Gold Shared System and again in 2017 as the Black & Gold Shared System Plus.

The Shared System is the deepest and most complex of our systems, bringing together many of our synthesis techniques into one system. From analog FM to voltage controlled granularization, the Shared System goes to more sound destinations than most folks have time to travel to in a single lifetime. While this marks the end for the Shared System’s production, the instrument will provide an endless source of inspiration for years to come. As always, we cannot wait to hear what you create with yours!

To commemorate the Shared System’s retirement, we have posted a new video to our YouTube channel ('Tony Talks Shared System'), in which Make Noise founder Tony Rolando sits down to reminisce on the origins and history of the Shared System.

While the original Shared System records are long out of print, three of the five Shared System Series artists currently host their Make Noise Records releases digitally on their Bandcamp pages and can be heard via the links below:

Piston Honda MK3 Videos by The Mephitif

br>video uploads by The Mephitif

Playlist:

1.Piston Honda MK3 Video 2
Second time visiting the Industrial Music Electronics Piston Honda MK3, this time with an emphasis on the softer sounding things. This is a raw video with no prior knowledge of the wave banks, just an attempt to look at some of the various wave-sets with an emphasis on the unison voice features. VERY BORING.
2. Industrial Music Electronics Piston Honda MK3
Playing around with the presets, FM amount, and xyz axis of the Industrial Music Electronics Piston Honda MK3 for the first time. Sorry for the crappy cell phone video.
3. Harvestman Piston Honda MK2 Feedback
The Piston Honda MK2 being fed into it's FM input via VCA 1 of the Double Andore MK 2 a mix of it's own output, and the outputs of the Hertz Donut MK2 and both oscillators of the Kermit. Topped with some heavy verb.

'A legendary analog filter design available at last in your modular system, the original circuit from a classic Russian analog synthesizer designed in cooperation with its inventor Vladimir Kuzmin.Tthe 2-pole filter circuit now has simultaneously available low- and band-pass outputs. From the pleasant saturation of bass frequencies when overdriven, to the satisfyingly unstable self-oscillation, this filter design is utterly unique. A 2-input audio mixer and some modulation inputs have been included for patching convenience.'"

Published on Feb 6, 2020 LESINDES

"This is the last and most sophisticated URSA MAJOR reverb the STARGATE 323. Stunning space and ambient relevance. The source was a KORG VOLCA FM processed in my modular with CWEJMAN QMMF-4 (cutoff modulated by WMD PDO whose pitch was rondomly controlled by HARVESTMAN ZORLAN CANNON) and then through VERMONA TAI-4 directly fed in the reverb."

Mini Polivoks Modular (5 Eurorack modules from The Harvestman)

Published on Jan 22, 2020 poorness studios

"It took me a few years to find all these modules on the used market, but I managed to put together a Eurorack Polivoks clone. All 5 modules are from The Harvestman (Industrial Music Electronics) and were designed by Scott Jaeger in conjunction with Vladimir Kuzmin (the designer of the original Polivoks synthesizer). This modules are housed in a 4MS Pod48X. The original Polivoks synthesizers were made from 1982-1990 by the Formanta radio factory in Russia. They are sought after for their unique sound that came from the Soviet-made electronic components."

"This was kinda fun. I decided to plug my CBG into the modular synth. It goes thru a homemade fuzz pedal, into the Pittsburgh InOut, then thru a Harvestman Polivoks VCF, and finally into MI Clouds. It doesn't really sound like a CBG after all that... but the twang still comes thru.

Eutelia

Published on Aug 24, 2019 rustyjaw

"It's been a while. Took some time away from music, although I didn't intend to take this long. I suffered a bit of a creative crises for a while, really not thrilled with my own music. Feeling like I had fallen into ruts, working the same tools in the same manner. I started to worry that I'd drift so far form music making that it would be hard to find my way back, so I decided to just try and learn something new. I focused on learning to use loops with the Deluge. I took the Deluge out of my room (ah, battery powered gear!) in an attempt to steer clear of those ruts.

That was the genesis of this track, using the Deluge to crunch up some drum loops and make variations. The rest flowed organically from that, I built much of the track on the Deluge using internal sounds, and then moved it to the studio to reroute some of those tracks to external gear. I found that just exercising the music muscle in the name of satisfying a curiosity was enough to kickstart inspiration.

Sound sources:
Deluge synth is doing bassline and ethereal pads
Deluge for all beats, processed with internal fx
JP-08 for muted keys/chime-like sounds
Digitone for thin panning pad and occasional bubbly arps
Rings is the arp lead (being fed a modulated BIA), but the Peak also mirrors the same melodic lines for layering
Morphagene is glitching about on a recording of the Rings, this is fed into Magneto for ambiance

Stillson Hammer MkII is running stepped modulation to BIA, Rings, and Morphagene"
