ShiftBud - Turing Machine Based AUv3 Random Looping Sequencer for iOS

This one is in via developer Cem Oclay.

You can find ShiftBud on his site here.

Some details via Cem:

"I’ve released my new app ShiftBud - Random Looping Sequencer based on the popular eurorack module Turing Machine. It’s an AUv3 MIDI sequencer for iOS.

The chaos knob controls the randomisation, when it’s fully rotated to clockwise or counterclockwise, it can lock the sequence and loop it. If you introduce low amounts of chaos, the sequence will slip occasionally and create beautiful melodies.

The app can sequence MIDI Notes and CC values which is great for modulating synth parameters. The note sequencer can generate notes in any key/scale and octave range with optional velocity randomisation."

How to Use DIY Noise Souces on the Volca Modular

video by ChrisLody

"This tutorial is all about easy ways to add a noise source to the Volca Modular. There are lots of way to do this of course, these are just some of my favourites that fit alongside the Volca nicely and aren't going to break the bank too much. Btw I don't really have a decent camera that does a good job of the head shot style intro. This was shot on the same iPhone 5s which is 720p when front facing which is why it looks soft focus, I'm not really into that 'Murder She Wrote' look so I think I'll buy another camera.

0:00 Intro
0:50 Using a smartphone and the 'White Noise Lite' app as a noise source
3:50 Using a detuned radio as a noise source
5:58 Using the Korg Nts1 as a noise source

Here is the ios and android versions of White Noise Lite: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/white-n..., https://play.google.com/store/apps/de..."

Evolution One virtual analog synth in Audio Evolution Mobile 5 for Android

Audio Evolution Mobile

Spotted this one on discchord. That's actually Tim Webb of discchord in the video.

"Audio Evolution Mobile Studio features a virtual analog synthesizer 'Evolution One' based on the very popular Synth One from AudioKit! Featuring morphing oscillators, FM, Sub Osc, Noise, Portamento, 2 LFO's that can be routed to 12 targets, Moog type filtering, effects, ARP, sequencer and more.

Presets are compatible with Synth One and it comes with licensed presets from Electronisounds and Red Sky Lullaby, giving a large number of presets to play with. Because Synth One is very CPU hungry, a lot of optimisations were performed to have it run decently on Android in a DAW environment, but a fast/recent Android device is still recommended. There is also an option to play in a lower quality mode, but when freezing a track or performing mix-down, the high quality setting is always used."

Dragon Drum Machine

Published on Apr 6, 2017 thIIIrd musique

This one is from the maker of Wiisp.

"Jam compilation with the Android app Dragon. Download free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...

Dragon is a drum machine built to quickly and easily make glitch, distorted, lofi drum beats and manipulate them live. The drums are simple and flexible, capable of some classic drum machine sounds and also new weirdness. Each is synthesized in real time and sent to a multi effect rig with variable speed stutter, bit reduction, pitched feedback delay and a resonant bandpass filter. The drums are triggered by a four pattern step sequencer. Patterns can be changed individually for each drum or triggered together for quick pattern switches for all drums.

Features:
Four pattern sequencer with local and global pattern control
BPM control with nudging
Save/load presets
Three drum synths:
-Bass
-Snare
-Hi-hat
Effects rig:
-Asymmetry and tanh(x) for tape like distortion
-Pitched feedback delay
-Retrigger (aka stutter/buffer) with variable speed and reversing
-Bit reduction
-Down-sample
-Reverb
-Resonant bandpass filter

Preset management requires permission for file storage read/write (optional on Android M+)

Unpaid version disables preset saving and audio recording

Audio recording coming soon. Possible future ports to desktop and ios. Made with Pure Data and libGDX"

Syntrax ported to Symbian 3rd edition phones

remember Syntrax? It's been updated to support 3rd generation phones. You can find more info including the list of supported phones here.

BTW, I created a new "mobile" label below for synths that run on mobile devices. If you catch any posts (old or new) that should have this label, post a comment.

Syntrax - Free Mobile Music Studio

"Meet Syntrax, the long awaited sequel to Jaytrax, the first software synthesizer and sequencer on the PocketPC. It has all the modern musician wants when away from the studio! A sequencer, sound synthesis and sample editor all wrapped up in a nice little package! Syntrax runs on Symbian devices as well as the PocketPC. Syntrax is the first and only professional music package for the mobile phone. Syntrax is packed with all the professional features you might expect from a mobile music studio. This includes MIDI support, a sequencer, sample editing, software synthesizer, realtime echoes, morphing etc."

This was sent in by Stefan who had the following to say about it: "It's a free tracker with (unique) softsynth for running on a PDA or Smartphone. i did some demos for it in 2001 already. It's mega cool fun playing around with. (great for killing time in public transport)" Syntrax website. Samples.
