ESK - Sequencer + Seiko DS-250 + DS-310

video upload by Metunar

Follow-up to this post.

"Testing the Seiko DS-250 + DS-310 digital additiv synthesizer with a sequencer.
The Elektron Digitone is only for sequencing and effects.
I didn’t change the spectrum or envelope parameters live, because it makes digital noises.
By the way, the Midi of the Seiko DS-250 is super strange. Midi input is the connector labeled „Midi Thru“. Why did they do that?

Shuffle Trip πŸ”€ (Elektron Digitone + Particle + Deco // Korg Drumlogue // Sequential Take 5)

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"This track starts with a PAD sound sequenced and played by the Elektron Digitone (Polyphonic Digital Synthesizer). I then enable the Doubletracker effect (on the Strymon Deco 2 tape simulation pedal) and unmute 2 other tracks on the Digitone, playing a LEAD and CHIMES sounds.

Enters the Korg Drumlogue (analog and digital drum machine) with some DRUMS (I used only one drum pattern where I made use of STEP probability to add some variations to the pattern).

And finally the BASS line played by the Sequential Take 5, sequenced by one MIDI track of the Digitone. In order to create this beefy dirty BASS sound, I use the onboard OVERDRIVE and DISTORTION effect of the synth! 😎🀘 The BASS line is also playing in triplets to add an odd groove to the track (it wasn't so easy to program on the Digitone MIDI track as I needed to shift each notes off the grid manually πŸ˜…).

Hope you'll enjoy!"

Aureate πŸ“€ (Sequential Take 5 // Elektron Digitone + Red Panda Particle + Strymon Deco 2) Chords Jam

video upload by 2-Minute Warning

"No sequencers were harmed during this recording! πŸ˜„ Just wanted to roam with some chords played live on the Take 5 analog synth. Further on I introduced the Digitone FM synth where I used 3 tracks (with 3 different sounds), where 2 of the tracks have their integrated ARPEGGIO enabled, with different settings in order to add some rhythmic complexity to the jam πŸ₯

The Digitone is being fed into the Particle 2 granular delay then the Deco pedal, in order to add random variations to the FM sounds and some kind of LO-FI vibes!

The MIDI Out of the Take 5 synth is triggering the Digitone. Hence both synths are playing the same notes. However the 2 ARPs on the Digitone help bring the syncopated sounds.

I think that the blending of the analog and digital synths here, makes the global sound and texture of this jam sound quite interesting! Hope you liked it too? 😊

* Hardware used *

// PADS:
- Sequential Take 5 (5-voice analog synth)

// CHIMES:
- Elektron Digitone (8-voice FM groovebox) + Red Panda Particle 2 (granular delay and pitch shifter) + Strymon Deco 2 (tape saturation & doubletracker)"

Elektron Digitone "hypha"

video upload by Benjamin Brodie

"Combining deep FM synthesis with a familiar subtractive synthesis signal flow, the Elektron Digitone is an amazingly powerful 8-voice synth. And with Elektron's acclaimed sequencing onboard, your creative potential is practically unlimited. Digitone is ready to create with four independent synth tracks, each with a 4-operator FM synth engine featuring eight different FM algorithms. Those algorithms — along with pretty much everything else — can be locked to different values for each sequence step. Factor in four MIDI tracks, an arpeggiator for each track, two LFOs per synth voice, multimode filtering, and built-in effects, and the Elektron Digitone may just be the FM synth you've always wanted to perform with.

The complex timbres and sonic animation you can create with FM synthesis make it a unique method of sound creation, and Digitone presents it in a welcoming fashion. Each of the four synth tracks features its own 4-operator FM synth engine with eight algorithms. Elektron gave Digitone a familiar subtractive synthesis-style workflow that makes tweaking these voices fun and intuitive. And with the potential to lock a different synth sound into every sequence step, Digitone offers far more sonic potential than most 8-voice synthesizers — or most FM synths in general for that matter.

The elusive song of the desert, caused by grains of sand rubbing against each other, is nature’s own FM synthesizer. Sometimes roaring, sometimes wailing, always enchanting. Enter the alluring dunes of Digitone: a compact synthesizer that fits snugly at home, in the studio, and on stage.

FM synthesis occurs when you modulate the pitch of one oscillator with another, to achieve rich and unexpected timbres. The ratio and rate of modulation impact the resulting sound. Digitone uses four oscillators, or operators, per voice. A particular configuration of operators is called an algorithm. For classical FM synthesis, it ends here.

With the Digitone, you get to shape, enrich and modulate the sound even further, using the powers of subtractive synthesis. Use the multimode filter with its custom envelope to soften or pronounce the wild overtones. Cut off the low, mid, or high frequencies. Sculpt with style and precision. Define the sound decisively using the full-featured amp envelope. Carve the contour of the sound.

You can add more movement to the sound using an LFO or two. Set any sound-shaping parameter in automated, repeated motion. At a very slow or a very fast speed, using a variety of different waveshapes, including a random one. Make your sound sway gently like the ocean, or flutter like a butterfly."

BAF 2024: Elektron - e25 Remix Editions - Rytm MK II

video upload by sonicstate

"At Buchla And Friends 2024, Sonic State caught up with Enrique Martinez at the Elektron booth to discuss their latest products. We got a look at their limited edition e25 series, which included the Digitakt, Digitone, and Syntakt. These instruments feature a shiny stainless steel finish that are surprisingly resistant to fingerprints. Additionally, Elektron displayed the Analog Heat Plus FX, the analog and digital effects processing unit and The Analog Rytm MKII which has new added machines and a Euclidean mode for creating intricate rhythmic patterns.

Ricky told us that the limited edition products are slightly more expensive but come with additional features and excitingly, in one box of each of the range there is a unique silver function button, which if you find it, Elektron has a secret very special prize for you!

Syntakt e25 Remix Edition Price: 1,149 USD
Digitakt e25 Remix Edition Price: 999 USD
Digitone e25 Remix Edition Price: 999 USD
Analog Heat Plus FX Price: 999 USD
Analog Rytm MK II Price: 1,799 USD"

Industrial 80s - 80s inspired Novation Summit Jam

"Here is another song I came up with last night. It was inspired by 80s sounds - I’ve really liked how good the Hydrasynth is for that sort of thing, and have been loving coming up with bass sounds on the Summit. The Digitone has stayed rock solid, as ever."

Introducing the e25 Remix Edition // Limited run of Digitakt, Digitone, & Syntakt

video upload by Elektron

"Introducing a ripple of both past and present. The e25 Remix Edition is a limited run of silver-faced Digitakt, Digitone, and Syntakt machines; a time hack to disorientate, reorientate, and deliver you to bliss. Inspired by yesteryear, these boxes are hell-bent on pulling your sounds through the veil of possibility and into reality. In recognition of a quarter century of Elektron existence, and to celebrate everyone we’ve met along the way, we have included a number of special additions to accompany this extra-special edition."

via Elektron

Introducing a time hack to disorientate, reorientate, and deliver you to bliss. In recognition of a quarter century of existence, we have dreamt up the e25 Remix Edition: a limited run of silver-faced units, spread across Digitakt, Digitone, and Syntakt. Inspired by yesteryear, and hell-bent on pulling your sounds through the veil of possibility and into reality.

The e25 Remix Editions don't just come with special versions of already unique music-making machines. We have included a number of other special additions to accompany your extra-special edition.

The instruments themselves are hand-built in stainless steel, individually numbered and bearing laser-etched logos. The box too is unique in its design and build, containing e25 poster versions, and a multiple decade-covering/greatest hits sticker sheet. And the e-shaped cherry on top is a special Remix Edition cassette tape featuring an hour of original and eclectic music from the Elektron Team.

Released in 2017, Digitakt splashed down as a compact sampling drum machine capable of summoning monstrous beats or delicately layered sample-scapes, breaking your creative boundaries wide open. Since then, we have added a succession of new and exciting features to its repertoire, making it even more super-powered year after year.

Digitone followed on the heels of its sibling in 2018, continuing the Digi line with its innovative and accessible take on FM synthesis, and as a prime source of new sounds and timbres. With it, you can create rich and enchanting tones with ease, diving from jagged chaos to mellow sonic suppleness, seemingly emanating from a parallel universe. Regular creativity and performance-focused feature additions have continued Digitone's sonic trajectory.

Coming in 2022, Syntakt may be the youngest of the three but it’s jam-packed with possibilities and loaded with powerful sound-exploring tools. Analog and Digital synthesis. Drum and melody. They're here in full fusion. Syntakt’s various percussive and melodic machines make for an adventurous playground, and even though it’s only been out a little over a year, more machines have already arrived. And more will follow.

All instruments have been handcrafted in stainless steel here in Sverige. The faceplates have been brushed to give them their own unique finish, with no two units identical in appearance, while the logo and limited edition number on the front panel are laser-etched. Each box is adorned with silver foil highlights, created with vintage machinery in the very capable hands of local printers.

We also have a specially produced T-shirt to clothe yourselves in e25 Remix Edition goodness. It’s limited numbers for a limited edition. And available exclusively from our webshop."

Novation Summit - A playing attempt at Brian Crain's "Imagining"

video uploads by eM

Playlist:
Novation Summit - A playing attempt at Brian Crain's "Imagining"
One of my favorite piano artists Brian Crain, his song 'Imagining' attempting to play it. IIt definitely takes some muscle memory, but I love this song, love to hear it sound on the Summit.
Novation Summit - "Morning Stroll" SM Plucked Keys
Took a walk outside with the family in our new neighborhood... beautiful sunny day. Much to be thankful for. a short inspirational piece from that played here. I hope wherever you are you will find an enjoyable stroll for yourself.
Novation Summit - SM Plucked Keys (Orano patch) - "Pirate's Beach"
Could pass for a guitar sound, do you think? Credit to Orano's patch again, some reverb from the flashback and hall of fame, subtle reverb and delay on the Summit, I know I know.. why not just use one or the other. Well, it's convenient to alternate, the HoF and FB pedals are primarily not adjusted as it's also sent thru my mixer as an FX channel for other instruments. Enjoy.
Novation Summit - "Aisle" - Multi Mode - 1. SM 5th Sense 2. Sm Who's Afraid (Orano's single patches)
Credit to Orano's Novation Summit single patches, I split them in multi mode, as you'll usually see me do. In this improvisation I'm playing with the delay timing effects on the #2 patch while playing pad on the #1. The onboard delay and reverb effects gives instant breaths for your creative atmospheres.
Novation Summit - "Crystal Falls" Multi Setting (SM Leviathan and SM Popcorn Arp)
Patch creation credit to Orano Music @ https://www.orano.co.uk/shop. Just having fun with blending his patches, very lush and enjoyable, highly recommended!
Novation Summit - SM Leviathan (patch Created by Orano Music)
This patch (along with many others) was created by Orano Music
Novation Summit - "Legendary Keys" - Solo Piano - Multi Mode
I like taking the same single patch and splitting them between both the A and B sections. There are a few minor tweaks between the two sections of course, the A section I'll use for solo piano playing with some slight filter manipulations while the B section is mainly conducting the arp in the play tick on the arp knob, this basically follows the key strokes and does a catch up, so to say, as there is also delay and feedback being added for dynamic effect. I like being able to create an immersivity effect to keep me going in my solo playing. The Summit never fails to conveniently produce this very basic task.

Since OBS has fixed their NDI plugin, it's less work around for me to set up these recordings again. Thanks for listening. appreciate any comments or tips for solo piano playing and any other recommendations to help me along this Summit playing journey.
