Tiptop Audio Buchla 200t Sound Demo

video upload by Station 252

"Buchla and Tiptop Audio 200t series workout.

Exploring Dual Oscillator Model 258t and Quad Function Generator Model 281t sound capabilities while recording my new EP. I was curious how the sound and response of those two modules will fit into my music and at the same time going into territories I wouldn't normally go to out of curiosity.

I've used a bunch of additional modules as my patches grew to hear how 200t modules fit with other eurorack modules and to keep everything in context, those where:

Tiptop Z8000 + Sequential Switch

Published on Apr 10, 2018 ZV_K

"I new about the existence of sequential switches for a long time and recently finally had a chance to try it out. I was so impressed with the results that I bought two Doepfer A-151 Quad Sequential Switches. Those little gems are an amazing addition to Tiptop Z8000 sequencer

This video is the first patch I came up with.

Z8000 - 4 vertical 4 step sequencers are connected to the first A-151, they share the same clock and are simultaneously reset to 3 steps by the Tiptop Trigger Riot. The output of the sequential switch is connected to Tiptop QuantiZer which in turn is driving Z3000 oscillator.

Circadian Rhythms - channels 5-8 are connected to the second A-151, the output of which is driving a pair of Z4000 VC ADSRs for The VCA and Filter FM.

The Sequential switches are reset to 8 step by the Circadian Rhythms.

The voice is quite simple: Z3000 sine wave - Tiptop Fold Processor (fold is modulated by a sine wave doepfer LFO and the offset is modulated by the horizontal 16 step sequence from Z8000 slewed by Make Noise Math) - Z2040

The bass drum is Tiptop BD808

Quick synth trick: How to create complex LFOs with wavefolding (MiniBrute 2S, TipTop Fold)

Published on Feb 5, 2018 loopop

"This is a relatively short clip, but conveys an idea I’ve not seen elsewhere. The idea is to get out of the monotony of “standard” repetitive LFO shape modulation by applying a wavefolding to a regular LFO, creating much more rhythmically interesting patterns. These new complex LFO shapes can then be applied to any number of destinations (AMP, filter, oscilliator shape, etc).

I’m showing it using the MiniBrute 2 and TipTop Audio Fold Processor but you can really use any “metalizer” or wave folder for this, as long as you can send it an input and receive its output. Digitone is in the background here sending chord pads to show this can be applied to any source of audio."

HYDRA: Band Taps Chorus

HYDRA: Band Taps Chorus from Station 252 on Vimeo.

"Testing the new HYDRA card for Tiptop Audio Z-DSP. Playing with the fourth algorithm: Band Taps Chorus

Voice 1: ONE playing DOTS sound > Vermona VcDrive > Toppobrillo Multifilter HiPass > Tiptop Z2040

Sending ONE into Band Taps Chorus on Z-DSP via aux sends on the Mackie mixer.

Voice 2: ONE playing DOTS sound (metallic percussion)

Sending ONE into Halls Of Valhalla Room on Z-DSP and later to Band Taps Chorus via aux sends on the Mackie mixer

Voice 3: appears at the very beginning. Verbos CO > Tiptop FOLD Processor > R°S VQVCF

Sending CO into Halls Of Valhalla Room on Z-DSP via aux sends on the Mackie mixer

HYDRA: Diffuse Band Delays

HYDRA: Diffuse Band Delays from Station 252 on Vimeo.

"Testing the new HYDRA card for Tiptop Audio Z-DSP. Playing with the first algorithm: Diffuse Band Delays.

Voice 1: Z3000 Sine + Tri mixed into the FOLD PROCESSOR > R*S VQVCF (FM by TTA Z4000) > WMD VCA (AM by another TTA Z4000)

Voice 2: ONE playing DOTS sound > Z2040 (AM by Z4000, FM by a second Z4000)

Kick Drum: TTA BD808

Snare (single shot at the beginning): ONE playing DOTS sound

Filtered percussion sound: ONE playing DOTS sound > Vermona VCDrive > Toppobrillo Multifilter (Hi Pass) > Tiptop Z2040

Diffuse Band Delays is the only effect used. Sending signals into Z-DSP via aux sends on the Mackie mixer.

Details on the New Tiptop Audio Fold Processor

Fold Processor from Tiptop Audio on Vimeo.

"The Fold Processor is a voltage controlled analog effect ideal for adding a distortion or rough edges to any sound passing through it. The fold circuit is based on the classic diode wave multiplier that adds odd harmonics by ‘folding’ the incoming signal with increased gain. Its noisy analog character is part of the charm.

Internally there are two sections, a wave folder section followed by a sub divide generator. The wave folder creates the classic fold sweeping effect and has a dedicated output jack. The subdivide generator squares the fold output generating 4 more sounds spaced one octave apart, each with its own gain knob, and all are mixed together at the Subdivide output jack. Adjustable bias from the Inject control and Fold knob are both voltage controlled and alter the bias point for the subdivider creating instability of the divider circuit. Overall results can sound evil at times and sweet at others, a true devil."

You can find the user guide on Tiptop Audio's site here.

TIPTOP FOLD PROCESSOR: 909 / 808 / ONE

TIPTOP FOLD PROCESSOR: 909 / 808 / ONE from Station 252 on Vimeo.

"Testing the new Fold Processor module from Tiptop Audio.

Running drums: Mid TOM 909, RS909, SNR808, CP909 + ONE (bass sound) sub mix through the FOLD PROCESSOR's main out.

BD808 is playing clean.

Fold's main out is filtered through R*S VCFS in HI-PASS going through R*S VCFS in LO-PASS (both fully open at the beginning)

Fold is modulated by Z8000 (processed by the Math - ch4) Low pass cut-off is modulated by Z3000.

First dry, then with Z-DSP Halls Of Valhalla room reverb, then dry again."

Tiptop Techno Box the Quad ONE

Tiptop Techno Box the Quad ONE from Tiptop Audio on Vimeo.

"Starting with the new Fold Processor, then turn on the beat with four ONE modules playing Glitchmachines cards and a card with chords. BD909 for kick Z2040/Z4000 do the bass with a chord from ONE, HATS909 HATS808 and MA808 adds more hats. Switching sounds on ONE playing the BENT card, everything but the bass drum gets processed by the Z-DSP. A stereo from the Z-DSP into Apogee Elements88 and BD909 output to the Elements on another channel. Limiter is set on Abelton master and thats it."
