Moog Releases MF Chorus & MF Flange with New Look

via Moog Music Inc.

Don't miss the Gwar video below!

"We are happy to announce the official release of two new Minifooger Analog Effects Pedals – the MF CHORUS Bucket Brigade Time Modulator & the MF FLANGE Bucket Brigade Harmonic Manipulator.

The MF CHORUS is a 100% analog BBD based time modulation pedal capable of a wide array of sonic shifting and manipulation in both mono and stereo output modes. A three-position Mix switch quickly transitions the effect from subtle shifting and swirling into analog vibrato, while the wide-range Time and Feedback controls allow users to completely customize each sound to their personal taste. In moderate settings the MF Chorus is warm and full of character, but at extreme settings it becomes a multi-octave modulated slap delay with near-infinite feedback trails. Like all Minifooger Analog Effects, the MF Chorus features a dedicated expression pedal input on its rear panel. This input provides hands-free control over one parameter - the Rate knob.

The MF FLANGE is a 100% analog BBD based harmonic manipulator pedal designed to far exceed the voicing and flexibility constraints of traditional flanger designs. It features two dedicated voicing modes, vocal and traditional, which are easily selected via the two-position Type switch. The wide-range Time and Feedback controls allows for fine-tuning of the MF Flange’s sonic vocabulary, which reaches from bright metallic modulation and classic jet flange, to chaotic pitch shifting and even analog chorus. Like all Minifooger Analog Effects, the MF Flange features a dedicated expression pedal input on its rear panel. This input provides hands-free control over one parameter - the Time knob.

NEW LOOK

In addition to the release of the MF CHORUS and MF FLANGE, Moog has also announced a new motif for the Minifooger family of analog effects that marks a departure from the pedal’s original all-black aesthetic. Though the look has changed, Minifoogers are still hand-built in Asheville, NC. Each unit is housed in a compact, cast aluminum enclosure and features a 100% analog signal path, true bypass switching, optional battery power, and a single expression pedal input providing hands-free control over one specified parameter within each unit."

"In this video Gwar guitarist, Pustulus Maximus, explores the sonic expanses of the new Minifooger MF Chorus (Bucket Brigade Time Modulator) and MF Flange (Bucket Brigade Harmonic Manipulator). Each Minifooger is assembled by hand at the Moog factory in downtown Ashville, NC in a rugged, cast aluminum enclosure and features a 100% analog signal path, true bypass design, optional battery power, and a single expression pedal input that provides hands-free control of one specified parameter for under $200 a piece.

Percussa Announces Wireless AudioCubes PRO, Available Now

via Percussa:

"We're very proud to announce that we're releasing a new version of the wireless audiocubes: the Percussa Wireless AudioCubes PRO.

The Percussa Wireless AudioCubes PRO have the same built in electronics as the Wireless AudioCubes, but will come with a high-quality housing that has increased impact and wear resistance.

Software updates will continue to work on the previous version of the Wireless AudioCubes, and will work equally well on the new version, the Wireless AudioCubes PRO.

Design Process

Instead of continuing to produce a housing from two U shaped parts, which are produced by laser cutting, bending and gluing processes, we've decided to opt for a new design, advanced materials such as Delrin and Polycarbonate, and production processes such as CNC milling and molding.

Bert has been working on this updated design for more than a year, going over countless variations and possible ways to produce the new AudioCubes, until arriving at the design you can see above and below in the image gallery.

The Percussa Wireless AudioCubes PRO will consist of 2 parts. The top part will be made of white translucent material, and bottom part of opaque black material. The black material will enhance the contrast of the colours displayed by the top part.

We decided to make these changes to give you, the AudioCubist, an even better experience when using AudioCubes on stage or in the studio: an updated design, increased colour contrast, improved impact and wear resistance and easier maintenance. All of these changes will push AudioCubes to the next level.

We'll be posting more info about the housing on the newsletter in the next weeks. Meanwhile, check out the renderings below!

We have limited inventory of this new version of the AudioCubes, the Wireless AudioCubes PRO. If you want to make sure you get the new version, head over to our pricing page, and order now."

Vintage Doepfer Sound Sampler

Update: Turns out this was not Doepfer's first creation (see the timeline here).  You can find some history on the Sound Sampler previously captured here and here.

This one in via Florian Anwater:

"this is an interesting find at the sequencer.de forum:

Partial translation of the text:

I' dug out a Doepfer Sound Sampler. It has a sound interface and 8 voice cards. I found also the Building instructions. I know that it can be used in connection with a C64 computer, but the ribbon cable which connects the sampler with the computer is broken. So I cannot check the functionality.
[...] My father has built it in the 80ies, as he hoped to get the fairlight sound, but he was disappointed by the results.

Comment from Florian: Appearently this is a really complete system. Consisting of the voice card and the loop card for each voice and the interface card for the C64."

NEW ALM008 - Pip Slope Eurorack Module

ALM008 - Pip Slope from ALM on Vimeo.

"‘Pip Slope’ is a compact eurorack function generator. It supports both Attack/Decay and Attack/Sustain/Decay type envelope functions with both direct and voltage control of Attack and Decay times. Envelopes can be automatically looped and the function curve type changed between exponential and linear."

New Eurorack Maker Omsonic Labs

Omsonic, know for their circuit bent creations, is entering the eurorack market. Pictured below is their first module, the VCF-1, a sallen key type vcf, followed by an LFO prototyping video.

1978 Starkey Laboratories Hearing Science Laboratory HSL II Synthesizer SN 8011003

"Up for auction is a used Starkey Laboratories Hearing Science Laboratory HSL II Synthesizer. This was originally designed to test hearing capabilities. This unit has been kept indoors in a climate controlled environment, and the inside components show no signs of corrosion. I was able to power the unit on and feed music through it. I do not have the proper equipment nor the knowledge to fully test this unit and say that it is in 100% working condition. The unit has some damage on the wood casing and a small dent in the face plate which I have highlighted in the pictures. The face plate could use a slight cleaning, as I do not know what cleaning product to use on it and do not want to ruin anything. Overall this unit is in good condition for being made in 1978."
