Please click here before you read on. It will bring up this post followed by previous posts featuring Mika sorted by date. Mika has been featured a number of times here on MATRIXSYNTH, most notably in live performances with Franck Vigroux who said it best, "Mika Vainio was simply one a the greatest musicians of today."

Below is a tribute video from Mark Williamson just posted today.

via Wikipedia: "Pan Sonic were a Finnish electronic music group founded in Turku in 1993. The group consisted of Mika Vainio, Ilpo Väisänen, and Sami Salo. Salo left in 1996 leaving Pan Sonic a duo. The group was originally named Panasonic until 1998. In December 2009, it was announced that Pan Sonic would disband after their December 2009 concerts.[1] Their final album, Gravitoni, was released by Blast First Petite in May 2010.[2] Oksastus, a live album recorded in 2009, was released in 2014.[3]"

A groove for Mika - FH-1, Seaboard, Eurorack Modular Published on Apr 13, 2017 mark williamson

"Mika Vainio was a massive influence and so shocked and saddened to hear of his death today.

Making music seemed better than making words so made this little track - restricted myself to my modular. Using the seaboard to drive the DPO via expert sleepers FH-1"

Published on Apr 13, 2017 Rheyne

"Recorded using sounds from Make Noise synths and modules, triggered by 3x Moog Mother-32 sequencers. Reverb is from a Strymon BigSky. No outside MIDI or computer was used, all notes and modulations are from the synths. Audio was recorded straight from the mixer and sync'd to the video."

"Vintage Octave CAT Synthesizer model 1853, S/N A1955. Note: this is duo-phonic, pre SRM version... Three ICs were replaced and it was cleaned and calibrated... It is in good working condition and fully functional. Cosmetically it is overall good. All of the knobs are original except for three. In the photo they are the ones for VCO1 Coarse and Fine tuning and VCA volume. There are a few minor scratches. There is a little rust on the outside ring of the input/output jacks but does not affect operation. Also there was a hole drilled on each side panel (see photos) so, it's ready for strap locks in case you want to rock out like Edgar Winter."

4MS Spectral Multiband Resonator - A Quick Test in Three Parts

Published on Apr 13, 2017 Genshi Media Group

"A quick test (in three parts) of the 4MS Spectral Multiband Resonator. Parts One & Two are short tests of the SMR on it's own (with a touch of reverb from Clouds) which was posted the previous day on my Instagram account. Part Three is the SMR with my full Eurorack system using a variation of the patch from my previous video. I'm still trying to figure out how this module will fit in with the rest of the system, and with what I want to do..."

CHORG PS3500 Demo - A VST Emulation of the Korg PS3300 by K Brown.

Published on Apr 13, 2017 Reuben Jones

"This VST, as well as many others, can be found for free @ http://kbrownsynthplugins.weebly.com/

As I doubt I'll ever get to play a Korg PS3300, I guess we're lucky to have this software experience of the mightiest poly synth ever made.

Here are two sketches played by hand.

Don't go looking for a noise sound generator, because there wasn't one; only as a modulation source.

Sorry for clipping."
