Tempi x Rings ∆ Ambient Eurorack Modular Synthesizer

Salvatore Córdova
Published on Aug 14, 2017

"An ambient meditation using the Make Noise Tempi to shift through timing configurations. A trick I like to use is to mix two of the outputs on Tempi to create simple patterns. The shifting pattern is sent to the 4MS DLD's ping input and TR1 on the Ornament and Crime (in turing machine mode, sending cv to Rings). The Bastl CV Trinity is on modulation duty. Some outputs are LFO's, some are recorded automation sweeps. Mutable Instruments Clouds provides extra texture and reverb."

"Quite a long time ...

Assumption's lazy afternoon and this patch. The melody is played by the amazing Frap Tools Sapèl plug in the O&C (CopierMachine App). Sound by the Sputinik's Dual Oscillator and Make Noise's STO and a lot of LPGs

Drone by the Mother 32.

Reverb: Eventide Black Hole / Delays: D16 Repeater

Concept Desktop Roland D-05 Linear Synthesizer - New Boutique?

ZenithMusicNet
Published on Aug 15, 2017

Wouldn't that be cool. If Roland could accurately emulate the D-50 in a desktop, or boutique format, DACs and all, I think I might actually bite.

"Concept artwork of a D-05 desktop synthesizer, a perfect recreation of the legendary Roland D-50 from 1987.

After 30 years it's time for Roland to build a real hardware synthesizer that incorporates the iconic sound from the D-50, as well as the extended programming capabilities from the PG-1000.

Roland TR-77 voiceboard in 19" with midi trigger interface

Stereoping

"More or less entertaining demo- and testsong with slideshow for a project in summer 2017: putting the voiceboard of a broken Roland TR-77 drumbox into a new 19" housing and supplying a midi trigger interface to overcome the boring preset rhythms. The board offers 13 pure analogue sounds, mainly generated with big coils in stunningly simple schematics: Bassdrum, Snaredrum, Hihat, Cymbal, Maracas, Tambourine, Low Conga, Low & High Bongo, Rimshot, Cowbell, Clave and Guiro. Guiro is more kind of sound effect producing a permanent chirping sound in 2 different frequencies. It's fully supported by the interface: 2 different midinotes switch Guiro on/off and high/low.

I also found a very simple way to misuse the onboard VCA for an accent feature. The VCA normally mutes the TR-77 output when stopped to prevent getting all the noises from the clockgenerators to the output. (The Accent feature is just explained, not demoed in the video.)

All drumsounds in the song come from the miditriggered TR-77 voiceboard running through a TAPCO 4400 stereo spring reverb. Further equipment: Juno 6 + Line6 Echopark, Korg Polysix + Roland DEP5, Kawai K4 and - at the end of the vid - a lovely diletantic live synth solo on the minikorg-700 through the realtime tweaked Sparta Delay.

The beginning of the song is quite cheesy but stay tuned, around 3:20 it turnes into a nice 80ies style. Hope you like it :-) Wanne see more midified drumboxes? Then please drop a comment. I still got many of them flying around, waiting to be brought back to studiolife by getting some midi-trigger support.

I also wrote an article about this project on my site: https://www.stereoping.com/tr-77-info..."

Scrambled Live Mix

"Testing out the live setup"

Cool command center style case. See if you can ID all the gear. There are some obscure pieces in there. When you are done guessing you can check some of them out in previous posts from prinztronix here.

New GRP Eurorack Demos

The following have been added to the playlist in this post.

9. Grp Synthesizer Low Frequency Oscillator
"Four Grp Low Frequency Oscillators; each one drives VCA Gain amplifying a filtered oscillators. LFO rates are uncorrelated and each LFO can vary its waveform from ramp to triangle and from triangle to saw."

10. Grp Envelope Generator Euro Rack
"From left to right: first eg on PWM, second eg on cutoff frequency, third eg on cutoff frequency (with double ratcheting gate), fourth eg on amplifier."

11. Grp Mixer Euro Rack
"The inverted Oscillator ("-" out of the left mixer) is subtracted (e.g., added with minus sign) to lowpass filter output... instant high pass filter. :-)"
