"for more info visit: http://www.casperelectronics.com/.
All sounds are generated by the modular synth (right) and two heavily modified barbie karaoke machines which have been mounted into a single housing (top left).

The synth is feeding through and being processed by one of the barbies. The second barbie is generating it's own sounds. Both barbies are being controlled by the step sequencer (bottom left). Watch the lights on the step sequencer to see how it corresponds with the sound.
The synth is being controlled by the Pulse divider (bottom center) and melody sequencer (top right).

All three sequencers are sync'd together using a common clock signal.

Atomo Mochika

images via this auction

"This synth features one square and saw waveform VCO (voltage controled oscillator) with a huge pitch range, from subsonic to ultrasonic sound

One square and triangle waveform LFO (low frequency oscillator), that modulates the VCO for the vibrato effect creating old school arcade Atari-like sounds.

White noise generator that triggers the VCO and can create percussion like sounds.

8 step Sequencer with note on/off switch and pitch knob for each step

It features a 1/4 inch audio output, 1/4 inch CV Output (to control other analog gear), 1/4 inch Clock input (gate in, to sync whit an external analog clock, like another analog sequencer), 1/4 inch Gate/clock output.(to sync whit other analog gear using the Mochika's internal clock)

Also the instrument is ligthed with 2 super bright green leds that indicates the LFO and Sequencer Rate, and 8 blue ultra bright leds to indicate the step that is being played. Very useful when you play it on a dark stage.

The Analog Sequencer is packed in a cool cristal acrilic case that shows all the hand made analog circuitry.

The instrument is powered directly from 110V or 220V AC, rubber feet, and comes with operation manual.

Dimensions: 9 inch(W), 7 inch(D), 3 1/4 inch(H. incuded rubber feet and knobs)"

MOOG Memorymoog Plus

images via this auction
"Produced: 1982-1985
The Memorymoog is a polyphonic synthesizer manufactured by Moog Music from 1982 to 1985, the last synthesizer to be released by the company. The Memorymoog was capable of storing 100 preset sounds whereas most memory-enabled synthesizers before it could store only a much smaller number of presets. While not as polyphonic as the Polymoog which featured unlimited polyphony, the Memorymoog is sonically superior, & often described as like having six Minimoogs in one unit. Each of the six polyphonic voices of the Memorymoog is made up of three VCOs that can be set to pulse, saw, or triangle waveforms and switched between octaves. Each voice also has its own VCF. All 18 oscillators can be set for monophonic playing for powerful leads and basslines. An independent LFO allows modulation, while vco-3 can also be used for modulation. It is possible, with concentrated programming, to emulate some acoustic & electric instruments quite accurately, quite surprising for a "traditional" synthesizer. The Memorymoog uses Curtis CEM 3340 chips as opposed to the standard Moog oscillators and the sound quality of the instrument is often unfairly criticized for this reason. It is still capable of dominating any mix it is used in. Stock Memorymoogs are prone to problems, notably missing or stuck voices, or auto-tuning failures. A later version, the Memorymoog+, is capable of taking a MIDI retrofit and also features a basic polyphonic sequencer."

ASM-2 (Part 4) on Synth.nl

"Yesterday I received another bunch of parts for my ASM-2. With this parts I finished the PCB. I only miss two 120 nF capacitors. The strange thing is that no manufacturer has those values anymore in their assortment. I will ask Elby Designs if they can supply them or maybe I can replace them with 100 nF or 150 nF. I don't know how critical the value is. Two other components are not fitted yet."

MonoMiK DIY synth mechanics

"Building a DIY synthesizer not just involves all this interesting electronics, there is also a lot of mechanics to do. As i want to create a lot of documentation for the current project, the MonoMiK, i had the camera running during my 6 hours of mechanics work today and created a video from it.

This is most of the inner frame holding the modules later and giving the synthesizer stability and some sort of electric shield."

Formant 2000 Modular Synthesizer

images via this auction
Description in Googlish:
"Formant modular synthesizer 2000 as ARP / Moog, like new Hello, dear button Dreher, here is the unique opportunity to build a truly professional structure formant system generations. It is in 5 months of work by the developer built Helmstedt for me. The housing birch multiplex together Beizung and painting comes from Studio 38 from Kiel. The pots are made of American manufacturing (alpha), only the Sequenzerpotis had reasons of space German. The buttons are of Cosmo made especially for me. The sequencer buttons are of Tyco. The screenplay feeling "is astrein - really better than the mini-Moog and not with the normal button boxes to compare. The 3.5 mm jacks are of Miranda, they are the only ones who really tired and not flutschen crochet. The front panels are, of course, from etched aluminum. The fittings are Artware status of Thomann. The power supply has a toroidal transformer. During the manufacturing work we are from analogue keyboard on a midi keyboard with digital / analog - umgeschwenkt converter, so had the keyboard housing subsequently modified, which is consistent with cosmetic Macken was to acknowledge - there are some scars left behind is still decent work and painted. The Synth housing at the top and bottom are flawless, the pictures are from this afternoon. The device is also compatible with normal midi keyboards play!
All modules are made from Helmstedt. Only the analog instrumentation to control the tensions tax, I have built and deployed. Everything works fine. The sound possibilities with this system are virtually unlimited, I have three quarters after a year's work so much not even try, because I lacked the time. The sequencer itself is incredibly refined constructed and extremely powerful. Off the schnöden VCO> VCF> VCA paths is a synthesizer a smooth divorce reason. I have him to dubbing of animation films used some artists have their own animations so entertained and lots of fun with that. Now I agree with a studio community, where the device is misplaced.
This device is very vintage, very sexy and very professionally. It is an excellent studio unit, because of the selection of its components still experience the next century, if it is treated decently. The performance with the modulation wheel is first class, the keyboard of Fatar plays very pleasant and fast. The sound is ..... all-encompassing. The device can be easily butterweich on everything from schmatzend to hammerhart krachend, it may take a backward beaten Gong crackling in slivers "morph" it is really incomprehensible universal. It has everything a very own character, I would rather the overall sound direction ARP lane as the direction Moog ....
The system consists of: 5 VCO, VCF 24db to 12db VCF, 2 x 12db DoppelVCF, 5 ADSR, 1 Divider, 1 x 3 blender, 1 x 6 mixer, 4 LFO, ring modulator, Noise, Waveform Processor, modulation sequencers, the Envelope Follower Triggers external devices (guitar etc), multinationals, CV-source, BUS for CV / Gate, Midi Interface (twice), dual-CV-inverter, 4 VCA lin, 2 VCA exp, sequencer with 3 x 16 steps, all three rows with its own Trig-out. And a Hall Module (VERY analog) with Hall spiral. Probably I nochwas forgotten. I still do about this: A VCA exp, an ADSR and a double-LFO the same series (same front, the same buttons), an acquaintance of mine built. They also work properly. There is only enough space for 2 modules - then it's brim. ;-) 60 (!) Patch cables (mainly from Doepfer) are also included in the offer (various lengths).
Of course, is that this book Synthy, as well as the current documentation with the main changes from Helmstedt.
I think the pictures speak for themselves.
This system is expected to be unique in the world, I am aware of no other formant, with these high-quality components is built.
Since the device is quite large, I will not send - this collection is called for. It fits in any standard combinations. Anyway is a small introduction to the technique is useful - only the output is, for example, mixers so tricky, "the people are hardly set.

The device must be within a week after the auction ends to be paid. The collection does not necessarily during this period.
The device can be tested any time with me and look to be taken."

the squarewave parade the MoleS20r

"the MoleS20r ( Pronounced MOLESTER ) is a multimode voltage controlled resonant analog filter, the core of which is a clone of the OTA filter section of the KORG MS-20. i have made a couple slight changes to the original design to get more range of use out of it which i'll explain below, but the calibration that it ships with is nearly an exact reproduction. there have been some additions around the filter. first is a nice clean preamp with more then enough gain to allow you to plug a guitar level signal directly into it and to overdrive the input of the filter. the filter itself was modified to allow you to switch between highpass, bandpass and lowpass with the turn of a knob. the overall cutoff scale and max resonance peak ( far into self oscillation if you want ) are both adjustable via small screwdriver accessible holes in each side. after the filter section is a heavy overdrive distortion that at lower setting will act as a fairly clean makeup gain. there are both a control voltage input and an expressional pedal input and they work in parallel with the cutoff knob so they can all be used at once. the true bypass switch is setup with a toggle for use as a desktop device but i can replace it with a stomp switch if you want, no charge just give me a day or so to get to it. the power supply was intentionally overbuilt and the very small footprint AC wall supply is included"

Attilio Mineo conducts Man In Space With Sounds (1962)

another via 36 15 MOOG. Audio here. Anyone know what was used to create the sounds in this one?

"Composed and conducted by Art Mineo, 'Man in Space with Sounds' served as the soundtrack to the futuristic "Bubbleator" exhibit at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair.
.
The Bubbleator was a large, bubble-shaped hydraulic elevator with transparent acrylic glass walls. These transparent walls gave the illusion of looking through an actual 'soap bubble' by refracting light to obtain a rainbow-like effect for the riders inside.
It moved 2.5 million people (150 passengers at a time) through displays promising an easier life ahead (The World of Tomorrow). The 'House of Tomorrow' might include disposable dishes, automatic windows, and changeable color schemes. Gyrocopters might zip and whiz you to the 'Office of Tomorrow', which might have miniature micro-mail, machines to transmit correspondence, and machines that communicated with each other.
.
'Man In Space With Sounds' was the soundtrack heard on this 21 minute tour of the future.
.
Welcome to tomorrow....."
