BPMC Circuit Bent Panasonic WJ Ave5 2 channel glitch video mixe

"Modified WJ-Ave5 2 channel glitch video mixer. w/ Control box, a hand crafted manual & all the patch cables you'll ever need.

Note: Although I am associated with Folktek this work is unaffiliated with Folktek.

This is a heavily modified two channel NTSC composite (RCA) video mixer. It still functions completely in it's original form but has an added twelve glitch effect ports PER channel, it also has two ports for wipe glitch effects. The control box gives you maximum control over your glitch effects allowing you to implement two separate audio feeds to drive the glitch visuals (all the controls on top and back) or just patch in to one of four pots to hone in on certain glitch looks. I've built a slew of these now and this is my favorite build thus far. The control box is super light weight, great for gigging, and the effect port selection features a really nice array of stable exploits. The two separate independent feeds for incoming audio is nice too because then you can do things like output a drum machine kick drum to channel A and a snare to channel B and mix between the two channels with different glitch visuals applied to each channel. It's a good look. Or you can flip a switch on the back and just use one audio feed to be shared by both channels. The audio impulse set-up features 1 RCA input for each channel, a wet/dry for each channel, 5 switches per channel, and two push buttons for each channel. I've also two outputs per each channel on the lower portion of the front panel so you can patch sound in to the pots or to other equipment.

The creative possibilities with this thing are endless.

The Ave5 is one of my favorite composite video mixers giving you a slew of handy built in effects, a superimpose layer, a variety of useful/ironic wipes and a TBC all under one roof.

This WJ has TWO modes of operation:

SOUND VISUALIZATION MODE:

By plugging a well-amplified audio signal in to the modified AVE-5 control box you can profoundly glitch the visuals in a variety of unique ways.. all in real-time. Just take a look at the videos below. This mode is good for veejays, performance artists or art installations.

VIDEO SYNTH MODE:

Without sound you can use the control box to hone in on a variety of glitch effects and looks not possible in sound visualization mode. The majority of effects are unique to the ave5's fx circuit and difficult to emulate or simulate with other video synths (LZX etc). This mode is good for post production, experimental film & masking/overlays.

Of course both modes can be combined. In fact it is encouraged.

The original physical condition of this unit is a 7.5/10. It has some light surface scratches, very faint.

This device is perfect for:
Adding a unique look to your indie tv/film/event production.
Providing you with a variety of effects you can't get with After Effects.
Live professional VJ work .
Making dubstep or chillwave music videos (ha!).
Lo-fi enthusiasts.
Inducing epilepsy.

This device was made to last. Although a device of this nature is fragile by design I have gone through great lengths to ensure that this device stands the test of time. It has been tightly assembled, designed with thought and built with solid parts.

Note: You really have to crank incoming audio to see visualizations. Just the nature of the beast. You will need a mixer with a good heaphones out or aux out to drive this beast. I use a Behringer XENYX for live use and a Mack 1402 with it at home.

Note: Unlike most circuit bent video devices this device does NOT need a TBC because it has one built in."

Music: DMX - Unstoppable Force (from the unreleased demo)

I managed to cram all of the glitch controls for the Ave5 in it's very spatially limited housing for a couple of these "switchable editions." While dope and very handy
I don't think I'll be doing that again, it's a real pain in the ass.

The demo in this video is a little rough, I was a bit hung over, so I apologize for not showing off more variety."

"with a total of 9 knobs, the drone commander offers two manually-tuned oscillators and two lfos, plus an unusually colorful and nasty filter. lfo1 is an analog variable-shape oscillator, and lfo2 is a pulse waveform that auto-synchronizes to lfo1 at a ratio of 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x. both lfos can be routed to the filter for rhythmic patterns. a line-level output jack is provided for connection to amplifiers or effects.

six of the drone commander’s nine knobs double as push-pull switches to control signal routing and waveform selection. scroll to the bottom of this page to view the control layout."

"Doepfer A-100lc6 Eurorack Suitcase (painted orange) with carrying handle.

Excellent condition. $390 new price.

The a-100 low cost suitcase is an inexpensive, open front variant of the a-100p. the case frame is simple and does not contain the front lid, amongst other differences. the housing is manufactured from raw wood. the housing can later be painted, for example with the help of a lacquer spray box by the customer in each desired color.

The housing is produced with a net entrance at the back. dimensions: outside approx. 445 x 275 x 160 mm , inside: 2 x 84 width unit x 3 he, usable depth for a-100 module: approx. 90 mm within the range of the power pack (right down), otherwise approx. 110 mm (counted starting from the inside of the front plate). no sensitive audio modules should be mounted near the power pack. we recommend to place control voltage modules (e.g. lfo, adsr, trigger delay, clock teiler/sequencer, sequencer, slew limiter, midi interface, etc.) within this range only, and no audio modules (e.g. vco, vcf, vca, vcp, frequency shifter, ring modulator, etc.). in this range the depth is also somewhat smaller, so deeper modules (e.g. a-113 or a-126) will not fit near the power pack."

I usually associate orange eurorack cases with Monorocket.

Erthenvar Patch Chord Details and Specs

"Erthenvar Patch Chord - a bank of 25 "Oscillator Controlled Oscillators", which can be used to generate chords in a Eurorack system.

The Patch Chord continously samples the cycle duration and duty cycle of the input waveform. It outputs 12 semitone steps above the input note, 12 semitone steps below the input note, and the root note itself (available from two output jacks). All outputs are pulse waveforms with continuously variable pulse width.

An oversized tri-color LED spans the color spectrum in each octave, so each note has a unique color! The input jack is passively multipled to an output jack so the visual effects of the LED can be had even if the module is not part of the current patch.

There four modulation types available, each with an input jack and a three-position switch. The switch can turn off the modulation, allow the CV value to control the parameter, or turn on the modulation. The modulation jacks are all DC coupled and respond to audio rate signals, though the tracked waveform has a lower limit of around 20 seconds per cycle.

The SQR modulation forces the tracked duty cycle to 50%, making all of the 25 outputs into square waves
The INT modulation changes the relationship between each output from a semitone step to an integer or harmonic step
The ZERO modulation resets all of the output counters to 0, similar to a sync function
The HOLD modulation stops tracking the input and keeps the last counted cycle duration and duty cycle values

This module requires +5V from the bus board! We offer the freelunch as a +5V solution.

Features

Eurorack power cable and M3 screws are included
A total of 25 oscillator outputs tracked from 1 input
RGB LED with color-per-note functionality
Four "ACV" audio rate CV inputs
C&K switches

Specifications
Eurorack horizontal pitch 22 HP

lighthouse_sound (RSS)

"Moog Little Phatty Keyboard Synthesizer in very good condition. Includes manual on CD and power cable.

The Little Phatty is the next great thing to emerge from the revitalized Moog Music synthesizer company. It is sort of a notch below the Voyager, but should not really be categorized as such because the Little Phatty is a powerful synth with a layout and design that looks less into the past and more towards the future.

The Little Phatty boasts a 100 percent analog signal path, 100 user editable presets and a 37-note keyboard. It is a monophonic synth with two oscillators (the Voyager has three osc). Waveform selector is continuously variable between waveforms (tri, saw, square, pulse) and there is oscillator-sync. The filter is the classic Moog ladder design. Two ADSR envelope generators are available for the volume and the filter. And finally a nice LFO with six waveshapes, four destinations and rate/depth controls helps to get things moving. The 'Master' section of the keyboard has controls for Tuning, +/-2 Octave Transpose, Glide, Pitch/Mod wheels and some data entry controls. There are no on-board sequencers or effects."

One thing I noticed is that the sound may sometimes be unstable, or should I say, the sound shakes a bit when you keep pressing a note for few seconds. All six voice chips seems to be working fine, but I'm not a technician and I'm not sure what is causing this. Probably could do with some adjusting/servicing done, as there are also some sliders and knobs that has a bit of scratch noise."

Vermona DRM mk3 / analog drum / DUB DEMO

YouTube Published on Aug 30, 2012 by caleb condit

"I'll have a full write up on this synth up at beepbloop.com. I just noticed that there's not very much on this drum synth so I messed around with it for a half hour and am bringing you the tastiest bits. It's typically pretty overlooked in general, but is incredibly capable of all types of tones. I pushed it pretty far into tonal territory for this demo, but I'll follow up with some demos on creating typical analog drum tones.

It's a bit softer edged than some of the vintage roland classics, but that makes it really good for dub and more experimental pieces. Also the tonal parts make it really great for trap, moombahton and other harder genres or things like IDM. There are separate outs for each sound and I really could have run each one to my mixer to for maximum quality to get specific compression for each tone, etc, but for this demo I wanted something more loose and fuzzy.

I do push the mixer pretty hard at moments but I like what it does to the sound. I sequenced the beat on an electribe ER-1, to utilize the classic XOX style sequencing and ran it through an Electro Harmonix Memory Man with Hazarai to get a bit of ambience and the last clip also has a bit of beat repeat in Ableton that I forgot to take off.

Surprisingly the rhythm is the same throughout, but I just tweaked tones to show that even with something fairly unchanging, by just tweaking tones you can really do so much with this module and just faded volume knobs to bring parts in and out. The output works in an interesting way, where the different tones seem to fight each other a bit for what sits on top at times, and it's really nice. Very different from many things I've tried."

"The '''Synclavier Digital Audio System''' manufactured by New England Digital was a powerful, fully integrated computerised audio system used for music and post production. Using it's combination of synthesis, sampling, disk recording, and it's comprehensive proprietory software and hardware it was not only a powerful music performance and compositional tool but also a very accomplished sound design and editing system. It was first developed in the late '70s at Dartmouth College by Jon Appleton, Sydney Alonso and Cameron Jones.

Probably once as famous for it's cost as much as for it's musical abilities - full blown late systems would retail for between $200,000 - $300,00 US. The largest system built and sold by NED selling for $500,000. Instantantly recognisable with it's unique keyboard. The image on the left is the ORK (ORiginal Keyboard) and on the right is the later V/PK (Velocity/Pressure Keyboard)..."

The Crumar Toccata

YouTube Uploaded by astronautapinguim on Apr 19, 2011

Via Astronauta Pinguim where you'll find a great overview of the Crumar Toccata including history and pics.

"Founded in the late '60s/early '70s by Mario Crucianelli, Crumar was an Italian company that became very famous in its time mainly by their synths, keyboards and organs (both in compact or not so compact models). Mario was brother from Pierro Crucianelli, president of Elka - another very well known Italian company. Crumar existed until 1987 and the company's golden age was in the second half of the '70s, when they put on the market their "Pianoman" and "Stringman" models (1974) and later the model that combined the two machines in one, the "Multiman" model (1977). Even with this machine achieving a great reputation on the market, for me Crumar's coolest instruments are the "Hammond organ clones" made from 1974 on which had a great sound, very close to Hammond organs, but much more compact and easier to carry than the originals.

The Crumar Toccata organ was released in 1981 as a more compact version of all previous models of these "Hammond clones", more specifically the model T1/C (whose main difference was having one extra octave - higher than the Toccata's four octaves - and drawbars, like that ones from Hammond organs). The Crumar Toccata organ was manufactured until 1986..." Click here for the full post.

"Original Rhodes Chroma

Not the Polaris

Arp-designed vintage 16 voice / 16 VCO analog poly synth Awesome sound and quite rare

This is not the 6-voice Chroma Polaris. It is the older, rarer 16-voice big brother of that synth. The original Chroma was the last machine designed by Arp when they were still independent (Rhoades bought them, released the Chroma, then they went to work on the Polaris variants).

Serial number 21030860

Powers up but beyond that I'm not sure how to even load a patch (I'm selling it because I never had time to learn the system and I play my other synths but not this one...) so I'm not sure of the operational condition

Note: this thing is large and heavy as heck, shipping costs are very high. Local pick-up okay, no charge"

TWEAKERS Episode Two / The Sticky Rice from TWEAKERS on Vimeo.

"Welcome to TWEAKERS! In this episode, we visit private studio of Thailand based psychedelic dub reggae band The Sticky Rice to introduce their great analog gear collection and how they used them for live and recordings.

The Sticky Rice is a Thailand based 4-piece dub band led by analog synthesizer wizard Puttitorn Taypabood. He started his career as a turntablist for Thai pioneer reggae group T-Bone then joined another legendary reggae group called Kai-Jo Brother as a support guitarist. After spent more than 10 years in a local reggae scene, he finally formed his own group The Sticky Rice with his brother and friends, actively playing show at several events and parties.
They are currently making their debut album and live DVD planned to be released within this year from Thai DIY independent label Panda Records.
