Update: Rosetta's Farewell via APOD

Explanation: After closely following comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko for 786 days as it rounded the Sun, the Rosetta spacecraft's controlled impact with the comet's surface was confirmed by the loss of signal from the spacecraft on September 30, 2016. One the images taken during its final descent, this high resolution view looks across the comet's stark landscape. The scene spans just over 600 meters (2,000 feet), captured when Rosetta was about 16 kilometers from the comet's surface. Rosetta's descent to the comet brought to an end the operational phase of an inspirational mission of space exploration. Rosetta deployed a lander to the surface of one of the Solar System's most primordial worlds and witnessed first hand how a comet changes when subject to the increasing intensity of the Sun's radiation. The decision to end the mission on the surface is a result of the comet's orbit now taking it to the dim reaches beyond Jupiter where there would be a lack of power to operate the spacecraft. Mission operators also faced an approaching period where the Sun would be close to line-of-sight between Earth and Rosetta, making radio communications increasingly difficult."

A post from the group's management confirms that the electronic musician, also known as DJ Spank-Spank, passed away today (September 21). The eulogy calls Smith a 'legend,' and explains that Phuture will continue on and complete an album they had been working on prior to Smith's death"

Another great is gone. You can see how much influence he has had here on MATRIXSYNTH over the years.

He will be missed.

"Excellent, fully functional, Buchla designed Dual Function Generator in Eurorack format w Grayscale Panel. Includes excellent Manual Trigger Modification allowing self triggering. These Dual Function Generator PCBs were created by Toppobrillo using the original Buchla 281 schematic. It's exactly 1/2 of a Buchla 281. This is basically the same circuit used in the Make Noise Maths, and the implementation is pretty close, although the Grayscale Panel footprint is considerably smaller, at 16HP (versus 20HP for Maths). Photo is of actual module, and comes with original blue Buchla 200 knobs."

"For sale is a rare Roland TB303. It's in near mint shape and fully functional. Includes carry case bag (also in excellent shape) and original boss power supply. All the knobs turn smoothly, scratch free and buttons are all triggering properly. Super hard to find a 303 that performs are perfectly as this one. You won't have any issues with buttons double triggering or requiring firm presses, programming on this is a breeze. This one has been very lightly used over the years and it shows. No cracks, chips, dings or worn our corners like you find on most 303s. No wear around the knobs which shows it hasn't been used for intense filter or knob twisting action. "Bought new direct from Carsten Schippmann in 2011. This is a rare, boutique analog filter with a wide array of modular possibilities. Now out of production, Analogue Haven were selling these for around $2,600. Visit for detailed specs.
