"Following is information about the XBase 999 from the Jomox website:

The XBase09 was already legendary, but limited. Although three instruments were not too few, they left some scope undiscovered. That's why we have come up with an appropriate successor.

XBASE 999 is stepping into a new analog era.

· 9 Instruments
Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Lo Tom, Hi Tom, Hi Hat, Clap, Rim, Crash and Ride. All instruments are polyphonic and have single outputs. From the hi-hat section, it's short 8-bit samples that are played back with an analogue envelope. The sample flash memory is now bigger than ever: there are 31 samples per instrument.

· Real analog tone generation
for BD, SD, LT and HT with digital, dH storable / midi controllable control of all parameters. In order to influence the analog sound generation as little as possible, all D / A converters have been adapted to the parameters discrete and built into the circuits - in proven XBase / AirBase technology.

· 16 Knobs
To edit the sounds, there is an infinite rotary encoder for each analog parameter that adjusts the sounds without skipping or cumbersome turning around. Each knob has a 3-color LED that indicates which parameters to edit for the selected instrument.

· Improved kick drum
The most famous sound of the XBase09 was and is its kick. We added another parameter and gave the "hottest bass drum in the world" (original quote of some users) a compression value that allows you to continuously adjust between 909-moderate ultra-compressed envelope or 808-typical exponential curve.

· Analog Tom Toms
There are now also extremely good sounding and widely editable analog tom toms as in the AirBase99.

· Internal step sequencer
The XBASE 999 has already installed the ingenious step sequencer.

There are also some improvements: All patterns have A / B patterns, so you can choose between two alternate 16th notes or one 32th pattern. The sequencer has 3-color LEDs, which makes the custom Step Edit modes known from XBase09 even better and more intuitive.

· The micro-shuffle can now be edited individually for each instrument. Each step of each instrument can be pulled or towed per 6 microsteps.

· Bank selection is done via a separate button. 4 banks each with 16 A / B patterns are available, in fact 128 16tel patterns.

· Analog Stepsequencer with X-Filter
As a bonus, the XBASE 999 also has an internal 16-step analog sequencer for the built-in external filter. Each of the 16 rotary encoders has a click that activates the analog step and controls the built-in X-filter cutoff.
The filter is a 2-pole multimode filter with separate resonance and quality (Q control), which sounds great for external signals and can also serve as a signal source in certain resonance modes. If the resonance is low, Q can be used to make the bandwidth narrower without the filter ever self-resonating. If there is a bit of resonance then it starts whistling, but still the bandwidth can be adjusted within certain limits.

· Filter Modes
Each of the two filters can be set individually as lowpass, highpass, bandpass or notch. In addition, the two filters can be switched as stereo, parallel or in series or cross-coupled.
Each instrument can be individually fed into the filter or let out. The stereo filter signal is added to the stereo mix via a VCA or can be fed out as a pure filter signal via the ring of the stereo-out jacks separately.
The LFOs can also control the filters, so there is a full FX section here.
The whole thing runs parallel to the beat sequencer ...

· Analog input
A stereo input signal can be ground in and chopped using a VCA in the step sequencer with its own envelope. Or be fed as an external effect already in the sum. Or be filtered with the built-in X-Filter with the analog sequencer.

· Stereo mix with pan control
All instruments except the bass drum can be distributed in the stereo image and also stored. When a plug is plugged into a single output, this signal is removed from the sum.

· External midi tracks
There are 4 additional midi tracks to control external devices. The Edit Encoders program the 12 semitones and the octaves.

· 2 LFOs
Of course, the XBASE 999 again has two fat LFOs, which can be both beatsyncron and freewheeling and can be routed to anything.

· Hi Hat Filter
The Hi Hat section has a good-sounding analogue bandpass filter whose high and low pass and resonance can be adjusted independently of each other. In addition to 8-bit HH samples, analog noise can also be used as a sound source.

· 24 Character LCD Display
The XBASE 999 now has a large alphanumeric display for a more convenient and clear operation. Kits can be given names, and the analog step sequencer has a bar graph.

· Flash Sound ROM
The Sound Flash in the percussion section (HH, Clap, Rim, Crash, Ride), in which 31 samples per instrument are present, can be described by the user via Midi Sample Dump, so that own samples can be created.

· Sample Editor
There is a small tool from Jomox that allows you to convert * .WAV files into the XBASE 999 native format and dump them into the device to easily transfer your own samples to the XBASE 999.
